  • This study aims to obtain a stock investment strategy model based on the industrial sector in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This study uses IDX data for the period of January 1996 to December 2016. This study uses the Markov Regime Switching Model to identify trends in market conditions that occur in industrial sectors on IDX. Furthermore, by using the Logit Regression Model, we can see the influence of economic factors in determining trends in market conditions sectorally and the probability of trends in market conditions. This probability can be the basis for determining stock investment decisions in certain sectors. The results showed descriptively that the stocks of the consumer goods industry sector had the highest average return and the lowest standard deviation. The trend in sectoral stock market conditions that occur in IDX can be divided into two conditions, namely bullish condition (high returns and low volatility) and bearish condition (low returns and high volatility). Differences in the conditions are mainly due to differences in volatility. The use of a Logit Regression Model to produce probability of market conditions and to estimate the influence of economic factors in determining stock market conditions produces models that have varying predictive abilities.

  • Purpose: This study used ESG grade, but defined AESG, adjusted to the size of a company and examines whether it can be used as an investment strategy. Research design, data and methodology: The analysis sample in this study is a company that has given an ESG rating among companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange. We examine the results through portfolio analysis and Fama-macbeth regression analysis. Results: As result of examining the long-only performance and the long-short performance by constructing quintile portfolios, it was observed that a significant positive return was shown. It was observed that there was an alpha that could not be explained in asset pricing models. Also, AESG had a return prediction effect in the result of a Fama-Macbeth regression that controlled corporate characteristic variables in individual stocks. Next, we confirmed AESG's usage through various portfolio composition. In the portfolio optimization, the Risk Efficient method was the most superior in terms of sharpe ratio and the construct multi-factor model with Value, Momentum and Low Vol showed statistically significant performance improvement. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that it can be helpful in ESG investment to reflect the ESG rating of relatively small companies more through the scale adjustment of the ESG rating (i.e.AESG).

  • This study examines the stability and excellence of portfolio investment strategies based on the accounting information of the Korean stock market. In the process of constructing the portfolio, various combinations of financial ratios are used to select the stocks with high expected return and to measure their performance. We also tried to improve our investment performance by using genetic algorithm optimization. The results of this study show that portfolio strategies using accounting information are effective for investment decision making and can achieve high investment performance. We also verify that portfolio strategy using genetic algorithms can be effective for investment decision making.

  • Research and Development (R&D) investment of hydrogen and fuel cell, funded by government from 2007 to 2008 in Korea, has been analyzed. R&D investment of hydrogen and fuel cell in 2008 would see 9% and 29% of total budget in the field of renewable energy, respectively. It was found that R&D investment is mainly dependent on mission of Ministry in Korea. Basic and apply research would be mainly invested by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST), while development research would be conducted by Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE). In R&D investment by performer, hydrogen technology would be conducted by government-funded institute and university. It was also shown that funds for hydrogen production have been much supported than hydrogen storage. Meanwhile, fuel cell would be mainly conducted by major companies. It was also shown that funds for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) have been much invested than other technology in fuel cell.

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of conservative financial reporting on investment during uncertainty. It was assumed that during uncertainty conservative financial reporting can play an important role to improve investment decision-making. For our analysis, data sets from 2005-2020 of nonfinancial companies are used. To measure the impact of conservative financial reporting in the non-financial sector of Pakistan, Khan and Watts' (2009) model is applied. "Prospector" and "Defender" Business strategy is applied for measuring firm-level uncertainty. Investment is measured by adding the change in fixed assets (property, plant, and equipment). To check the robustness of conservative financial reporting, Givoly and Hayn's (2000) Negative Accruals measure is applied. To measure the robustness of uncertainty, environmental scanning and alertness technique is applied. According to environmental scanning and alertness technique, companies are divided into two groups named 'inert' and 'alert'. 'Inert' are those firms that are not scanning their environment, and 'alert' are those firms who continuously analyze their environment. The empirical estimations support our hypothesis. The empirical findings provide the proof that in the wake of uncertainty conservative financial reporting may facilitate to take optimal investment decisions in the developing economy of Pakistan. Our results provide critical and practical implications for investors, researchers, and standard setters.

  • Purpose: China's economy has changed considerably in recent decades. By delivering a comprehensive knowledge of the elements that support successful foreign direct investment (FDI) in China and practical insights for multinational firms operating in this dynamic environment, this research offers a new perspective and sets itself apart from previous studies. Research design, data and methodology: It is necessary to give a thorough overview of the body of information on successful FDI in China, which justifies the adoption of a systematic literature review. The study may use a wide range of studies because of this methodology, which guarantees that inferences have a solid and supported basis in data. Results: The findings in the present study have clarified how China's government policies and regulatory framework affect foreign direct investment (FDI). Previous studies have indicated that regulatory changes can significantly impact FDI. For instance, more foreign direct investment (FDI) has been drawn to liberalized industries such as technology and finance. Conclusions: In conclusion, for foreign direct investment (FDI) to be successful in China, it is essential to consider these four factors: local partnerships and cultural adaptation, market research and entry strategy, regulatory environment and policy support, and risk management and contingency planning.

  • This study endeavors to enrich investment prospects in cryptocurrency by establishing a rationale for investment decisions. The primary objective involves evaluating the predictability of four prominent cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and EOS - and scrutinizing the efficacy of trading strategies developed based on the prediction model. To identify the most effective prediction model for each cryptocurrency annually, we employed three methodologies - AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Prophet - representing traditional statistics and artificial intelligence. These methods were applied across diverse periods and time intervals. The result suggested that Prophet trained on the previous 28 days' price history at 15-minute intervals generally yielded the highest performance. The results were validated through a random selection of 100 days (20 target dates per year) spanning from January 1st, 2018, to December 31st, 2022. The trading strategies were formulated based on the optimal-performing prediction model, grounded in the simple principle of assigning greater weight to more predictable assets. When the forecasting model indicates an upward trend, it is recommended to acquire the cryptocurrency with the investment amount determined by its performance. Experimental results consistently demonstrated that the proposed trading strategy yields higher returns compared to an equal portfolio employing a buy-and-hold strategy. The cryptocurrency trading model introduced in this paper carries two significant implications. Firstly, it facilitates the evolution of cryptocurrencies from speculative assets to investment instruments. Secondly, it plays a crucial role in advancing deep learning-based investment strategies by providing sound evidence for portfolio allocation. This addresses the black box issue, a notable weakness in deep learning, offering increased transparency to the model.
