A Status Investigation and Analysis of the Chinese Web-Based Biographical Information Sources (웹 기반 중국인물정보원의 현황 조사와 분석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the status and characteristics of Web-based biographical information sources. Hence, this study examined the current status of Web-based biographical sources in China, Taiwan, Japan, and the U.S. It also conducted a comparative analysis of family names from the subject dictionary and Biography of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), reference books of China and the Chinese Historical Biographical Database and the China Biographical Database Project (CBDP) of the U.S. Furthermore, the problems related to status investigation and analyses of the Chinese biographical sources were studied. In this study, some suggestions were made to improve the management and usability of those biographical information sources in China and Korea.

Thermomechanical interactions in a non local thermoelastic model with two temperature and memory dependent derivatives

  • The present investigation is concerned with two-dimensional deformation in a homogeneous isotropic non local thermoelastic solid with two temperatures due to thermomechanical sources. The theory of memory dependent derivatives has been used for the study. The bounding surface is subjected to concentrated and distributed sources (mechanical and thermal sources). The Laplace and Fourier transforms have been used for obtaining the solution to the problem in the transformed domain. The analytical expressions for displacement components, stress components and conductive temperature are obtained in the transformed domain. For obtaining the results in the physical domain, numerical inversion technique has been applied. Numerical simulated results have been depicted graphically for explaining the effects of nonlocal parameter on the components of displacements, stresses and conductive temperature. Some special cases have also been deduced from the present study. The results obtained in the investigation should be useful for new material designers, researchers and physicists working in the field of nonlocal material sciences.

  • The present investigation is concerned with two dimensional deformation in a non local thermoelastic solid with two temperatures due to time harmonic sources. The nonlocal thermoelastic solid is homogeneous with the effect of two temperature parameters. Fourier transforms are used to solve the problem. The bounding surface is subjected to concentrated and distributed sources.   • In recent years inverter power sources are more and more used for resistance welding processes. In this paper some results of investigation into the static and dynamic behavior of high-current rectifier diodes used in these inverter power sources will be discussed. By means of digital simulation, losses and efficiency have been determined depending on the power semiconductor parameters.

  • An Orphan Sources Control program controlled by a web based information system in Korea has been developed to satisfy the national demand on a total management of and integrated radiation safety. There are, currently, three approaches going on to control and manage the orphan sources in Korea. First, Korean regulatory authority has been conducting scrutinizing investigation on and thoroughly monitoring the possession of unlicensed radioactive sources from the late 1990s. Second, the regulatory authority will fully operate an information system on radiation safety to effectively trace and monitor all radioactive sources in the country by the mid 2001. Finally, the regulatory authority strongly advises steel mill companies to closely scrutinize and inspect the scrap metals when they attempt to reutilize metals to prevent from being contaminated by uncontrolled sources through the scrap monitoring systems.

  • There has been continuous efforts to manage water resources for the required water quality criterion at river channel in Korea. However, we could obtain the partial improvement only for the point sources such as, waste waters from urban and factory site through the water quality management. Therefore, it is strongly needed that the best management practice throughout the river basin fur water quality management including non-point sources pollutant loads. This problem should be resolved by recognizing the non-point sources pollutant loads from the upstream river basin to the outlet of the basin depends on the landuse and soil type characteristics of the river basin using the computer simulation by a distributed model based on the detailed investigation and application of Geographic Information System (GIS). The purpose of this study is consisted of the three major distributions, which are the investigation of spread non-point sources pollutants throughout the river basin, development of the base maps to represent and interpret the input and outputs of the distributed simulation model, and prediction of non-point sources pollutant loads at the outlet of a up-stream river basin using Agricultural Non-Point Sources Model (AGNPS). For the validation purpose, the Seom-Jin River basin was selected with two flood events in 1998. The results of this application showed that the use of combined a distributed model and an application of GIS was very effective fur the best water resources and quality management practice throughout the river basin

  • Investigation into the sources of firms' ideas for new product development is very important because the capabilities of developing new products determine the competitiveness of a firm. This study aims at drawing the managerial implications for new product development in terms of the autonomy and the size of firms. To do this, this study analyzes how the capabilities of developing new products and the sources of ideas are different by the types of firms. More concretely, it compares differences in the capabilities of developing new products between types of firms, and in the sources of ideas for new product development between internal sources and external sources.

  • Constructing the national inventory that can be used as a tool to identify and assess existing or potential contamination is necessary for efficiently managing the soil and groundwater contamination. In order to start this construction, the first step is how we define and classify potential contamination sources of soil and groundwater. After selecting the basic classification model of contamination sources from developed countries, we suggested the classification and list of the potential contamination sources of soil and groundwater which are appropriate for specific conditions of South Korea. In addition, we investigated several databases to confirm the existence of available data sources and then examined established attribute data through chemical accident response information system (CARIS) and water information system (WIS) in National Institute of Environmental Research and mine geographic information system (MGIS) in Mine Reclamation Corporation. All sorts of attribute data in the existing databases can be utilized as significant assessment factors for determining the management priority of potential contamination sources in the future. Therefore, it is required the expanded investigation of additional database sources and the continual modification so that the classification system of potential contamination sources can be improved.

Characteristics of Discharged Loads from Saemangeum Watershed (새만금유역의 배출부하 특성)

  • For efficient water quality management of Saemangeum lake, it is very important to accurately analyze discharged load characteristics using investigated pollution sources data from Saemangeum watershed. Investigation of pollution sources was conducted from 2003 to 2007. In this study, pollution sources are largely classified into human population, livestock, industry, and land use. Discharged loads of BOD, T-N and T-P from classified pollution sources were calculated by Korea TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) technical guideline. The calculated results showed that the major sources of BOD and T-N were land use, human population, livestock, and industry in order. However, the major sources of T-P were livestock, land use, human population, and industry in order. Our results clearly show that pollution sources of the priority management for water quality enhancement in the Saemangeum lake has represented land use and livestock.

  • This work was completed in partial fulfillment of an on-going research ot descover the effective management of urban nonpoint sources. The current data was obtained from the area of Shingal, Kyunni-do. The investigation was are predominant soures of storm-runoff load and drainage. As a result of the investigation, the road was found to be most seriously contaminated and a significant potential source deteriorating the quality of streams and lakes in the vicinity of the town. Thus, in could be concluded that an effective and systematic cleaning technique must be developed as soon as possible and be frequently applied to the road.
