Purpose: This study aims to analyze the trends of the gerontological nursing researches in Korea and suggest the direction for research in this nation. Method: A total of 241 dissertations and other published articles in Korea from 1997 to 2003 were analyzed in this study focusing on the design of the research, key words, measurement tools for basic concepts, and the intervention outcomes in the case of the experimental research. Result: Of those analyzed researches. it was found that 80.9% accounted for the published articles and 19.1% dissertations. There were no clear criteria for the classification of the old men. The most popular research design was an exploratory/descriptive study (54.4%). The major concepts were about 'physical and mental health'. Most of the measurement tools used were developed by foreigners. which were translated into Korean. Among 56 experimental studies, nursing intervention programs in 22 studies were based on physical exercise programs. Conclusion: It is necessary to analyze the trend of gerontological health research in comparison with multidisciplinary researches for elderly people. In addition, the experimental researches for both development and verification of nursing intervention programs are needed. Also, accumulation of research outcomes and development of a standardized instrument for the measurement of Korean elderly people are required.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Evidence-based customized nutritional interventions are required for effective treatment of moderate to severe obese children and adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Sixty six (64.1% of 103) of the eligible participants who joined the usual care or physical activity group in the clinic were involved in 16-week intervention. Customized nutritional intervention was implemented for each participant based on a nutrition care process (NCP) model. Sociodemographic assessment, anthropometrics data, health- and dietary-related behaviors, and dietary intake of the study subjects were assessed at baseline and follow-up. All participants engaged in 30-minute nutritional sessions on a monthly basis. RESULTS: After 16 weeks, there were significant improvements in body composition [BMI (-0.8 ± 0.9, P < 0.05), BMI z-score (-0.3 ± 0.2, P < 0.001), body fat (kg) (-1.3 ± 2.1, P < 0.05), and body fat (%)(-1.5 ± 1.9, P < 0.05)] as well as macronutrient intake [total energy intake (kcal) (-563.7 ± 656.8, P < 0.05), energy (%) (-26.5 ± 30.0, P < 0.05) and fat (g) (-28.3 ± 40.6, P < 0.05)] in the adherent group than the non-adherent group. The SOC was higher in both groups after the intervention (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Our results highlight the positive effects of an evidence-based approach as a multidisciplinary intervention for people-centered nutritional care and weight management.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Many adolescents in developing countries skip breakfast. Innovative nutrition education (NE) strategies are needed to enhance knowledge and skills related to the breakfasts of adolescents in a low socioeconomic setting. The objective was to evaluate short- and long-term effects of a multi-strategy, school-based NE intervention on adolescents' breakfast-related personal influences and behaviors. SUBJECTS/METHODS: An intervention study with a cluster randomized controlled trial design was conducted in 4 senior high schools in Makassar, Indonesia. The multi-strategy NE intervention was delivered for 3 months. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and a 3-day breakfast recall (face-to-face interview). Wilcoxon, McNemar, and Mann-Whitney tests were used to determine intra- and intergroup differences. RESULTS: Unlike knowledge, improvement was observed in attitude and self-efficacy scores in the intervention groups (IGs) (P < 0.01); however, no significant changes were observed in the control group (CG). More students showed improved motivation in the IG than in the CG (P > 0.05). Changes in breakfast frequency and macronutrient intake from breakfast were greater in the IG than in the CG (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: A multi-strategy NE intervention is effective in producing positive changes in breakfast-related attitude, self-efficacy, and motivation of adolescents from a low-middle socioeconomic setting. The intervention improved breakfast frequency and nutrient intake. This intervention has promise for sustaining the observed changes over the long-term.

Purpose : This systematic review examined evidence published 2000-2021 for occupational therapy interventions for adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (adult ADHD). Methods : In order to find out the studies on the effect occupational therapy intervention on individuals with adult ADHD, studies published from 2000 to February 2022 were searched on Google Academic Search. The keywords used were "adult ADHD" AND "Occupational therapy". A total of 785 studies were searched, and from these, 3 studies were selected based on the application of the selection and exclusion criteria. The included studies comprised of 1 Quasi-experimental design study(one group pre-post test) and 2 randomized controlled trials design studies. The included studies were analyzed in PICO(patients, intervention, comparison, outcomes). Results : As a result of analysing the subjects of the included studies, subjects diagnosed with adult ADHD or classified as high-risk group in Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale test, the number of subjects was 97, and the average age was about 33 years old. Occupational therapy intervention methods for adult ADHD include Tailored Intervention, Computerized Cognitive Training, and Cognitive-Functional Intervention. The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale was the most used to check the symptoms of ADHD, and the COPM was used the most to measure the effects of occupational therapy interventions. The dependent variables of occupational therapy intervention were occupational performance, quality of life, executive function (behavioral regulation, metacognition), self-regulation function, stress management, and sustained attention. The effect of the intervention was statistically significant in 78.5% of the total. Conclusion : It is expected that the results of this study can be used as basic data for evidence-based practice for occupational therapists to apply adult ADHD interventions. In the field of occupational therapy in Korea, research on various interventions that can improve the occupational performance of adults ADHD should be conducted.

Objectives: This study is based on a visiting oral health care intervention program in the community care. This qualitative study was conducted through in-depth interviews to identify awareness and attitudes regarding intervention program among older adults. Methods: The research team visited the homes of the target older adults and conducted in-depth interviews for approximately an hour using a semi-structured questionnaire. The collected voice recordings were transcribed using Clova Note, and AI program by Naver. Using the 'Word Cloud Generator 3.7' program, words of high importance and interest from interview answers were extracted, visualized, and analyzed. Results: Participating older adults acknowledged that their quality of life related to oral health could be improved by increasing the level of oral health awareness and oral health knowledge through the intervention program. In addition, the older adults indicated that their oral hygiene management ability improved compared to before the intervention through expert oral hygiene management and oral health education. Further, as the level of oral health knowledge increased, so too did satisfaction with the intervention program increase. Conclusions: The intervention program for visiting oral health care showed a positive effect on the awareness and attitude of older adults. Thus, it is suggested that education for continuous competency enhancement of dental hygienists and multidisciplinary education for the improvement of general health and quality of life of older adults should be promoted.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate program methods for effective smoking cessation and prevention through systematic review of studies published during recent 3 years in Korea. Methods: Electronic searches were conducted in DBPIA, RISS, KISS and other databases looking for studies published from 2010 to 2012 that dealt with the effects of intervention on smoking prevention and cessation. A total of 25 studies were included in the final analysis. Three independent reviewers critically evaluated the study quality and evidence of effectiveness based on The Community Guide methodology. Results: Multi-component intervention showed strong evidence of effectiveness for adolescents and sufficient evidence for patient smokers. Cognitive-behavioral intervention for adolescents and child-parent interaction program for adults demonstrated sufficient evidence of effectiveness on the smoking cessation and its determinants. There was insufficient evidence showing effectiveness of smoking prevention programs. Conclusion: Improving the quality and quantity of the intervention studies on smoking could help to expand evidence base for effective intervention methods and strategies on smoking.
This study aimed at compare analyzing the trend of research in Korea and Other Country on Pain in Children, suggesting direction future pain research, and contributing to the use of pain intervention in nursing practice. The findings of the analysis can be summerized as follows : 1) The number of the studies insufficient in Korea(16 studies) compare to other country (36 studies). 2) Research subjetcs were mostly patients and preschool, schoolage children(12 studies, 26 studies). 3) Types of condition(situation) in pain were First, related to injection(IM, IV, Blood Sampling)(6 studies, 14 studies) second, related to operation (4 studies, 11 studies) third, related to heelstick in neonates (3 studies, 6 studies). 4) As measurement tools for pain were mostly FPRS(facial pain rating scale) used to studies (9 studies, 11 studies), and more than two tools used. Mostly used to heart rate at studies. 5) Types of nursing intervention, Teaching and information were most popular intervention for pain in Korea(4 studies), and distraction was most popular intervention for pain in the other country(14 studies). 6) Research design, The experimental research were most popular studies in Korea and the other country. The following suggestions made based on the above findings : Need to researches about pain of children's chronic disease.
Purpose - During the last two years, convenient stores (CS) are emerging as one of the most fast-growing retail trades in Korea. The goal of this work is to forecast and to analyze sales at CS using ARIMA-Intervention model (IM) and exponential smoothing method (ESM), together with sales at supermarkets in South Korea. Considering that two retail trades above are homogeneous and comparable in size and purchasing items on off-line distribution channel, individual behavior and characteristic can be detected and also relative superiority of future growth can be forecasted. In particular, the rapid growth of sales at CS is regarded as an everlasting external event, or step intervention, so that IM with season variation can be examined. At the same time, Winters ESM can be investigated as an alternative to seasonal ARIMA-IM, on the assumption that the underlying series shows exponentially decreasing weights over time. In case of sales at supermarkets, the marked intervention could not be found over the underlying periods, so that only Winters ESM is considered. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The dataset of this research is obtained from Korean Statistical Information Service (1/2010~7/2016) and Survey of Service Trend of Korea Statistics Administration. This work is exploited time series analyses such as IM, ESM and model-fitting statistics by using TSPLOT, TSMODEL, EXSMOOTH, ARIMA and MODELFIT procedures in SPSS 23.0. Results - By applying seasonal ARIMA-Intervention model to sales at CS, the steep and persisting increase can be expected over the next one year. On the other hand, we expect the rate of sales growth of supermarkets to be lagging and tied up constantly in the next 2016 year. Conclusions - Based on 2017 one-year sales forecasts for CS and supermarkets, we can yield the useful information for the development of CS and also for all retail trades. Future study is needed to analyze sales of popular items individually such as tobacco, banana milk, soju and so on and to get segmented results. Furthermore, we can expand sales forecasts to other retail trades such as department stores, hypermarkets, non-store retailing, so that comprehensive diagnostics can be delivered in the future.
The purpose of this research was to develop a nursing intervention list for family caregivers. The specific steps were as follows : 1. Analyze the concept, Soobal, based on literature review and case observation. 2. Generate an initial list of defining activities for ‘Caregiver Support : Soobal’. 3. Validate the defining activities. 4. Complete the final list of defining activities. A two-round Delphi questionnaire with an adaptation of Fehring's methodology was used to establish the content validity of intervention, Caregiver Support : Soobal. The definition of ‘Caregiver Support : Soobal’ was provision of the necessary information, advocacy, and support to facilitate primary patient care by someone other than a health care professional in Korean traditional manners. Ten nurse experts participated in Round I and II of this study. They were asked to rate activities that examplified the interventions on a scale of 1 (activity is not at all characteristic) to 5 (activity is very characteristic). Round I contained 15 ‘critical’ activities and 10 ‘supporting’ activities, while round II contained 16 ‘critical’ activities and 6 ‘supporting’ activities. No activities were considered to be ‘nonsupporting’ in both round I and II. Finally, the definition and 25 defining activities were developed. Intervention, Caregiver Support : Soobal, attained an ICV score of .82. This study provides a protocol model to develop Korean nursing interventions.

Purpose: Rehabilitation nursing requires an interdisciplinary comprehensive team approach that allows for enough time to promote patients' functional recovery. We identified the effects of a nurse-led rehabilitation intervention program on subacute stroke patients' activities of daily living, anger, and muscle strength, as well as their chief caregivers' satisfaction. Methods: Intervention group participants (n = 20) completed a rehabilitation intervention program, which integrated physical activities with psychological and social approaches. Results: The program did not significantly improve patients' activities of daily living or anger management; however, it significantly affected both anger-in (t = 3.384, p = .002) and anger-out (t = 2.167, p = .037) attitudes. Caregivers' satisfaction among the intervention group (t = 6.935, p < .001) decreased more significantly than that of the comparison group (t = 0.224, p = .825). Conclusion: Rehabilitation intervention program should enlist nurses' participation and promote a team-based approach during the rehabilitation program. Further, patients and their caregivers should be encouraged to express their emotions during counseling.
