Relationships between Experiencing Verbal Violence and the Emotional Responses and Coping Behaviors of Dental Hygienists

  • This study investigated the relationships between experiencing verbal violence and the emotional responses and coping behaviors of dental hygienists who worked in Jeonju between February 24 and March 18, 2017 to prepare strategies for managing verbal violence and establish a healthy working environment for dental hygienists. The following findings were obtained in this study. The dental hygienists primarily experienced verbal violence from patients and guardians (1.67 points). The most common verbal violence type was, "Someone treated me impolitely." The most common emotional response to verbal violence was "anger" (3.52 points). The coping style of most dental hygienists was problem-focused coping (3.28 points), followed by emotion-focused coping (2.75 points). Most hygienists with the problem-focused coping style stated that they resolve the problem through dialogue (3.51 points), while most hygienists with the emotion-focused coping style responded that they just ignore the situation (3.78 points). The relationship between experiencing verbal violence and the emotional responses and coping behaviors of dental hygienists showed a statistically significant positive correlation (p<0.05) with emotional responses and problem- and emotion-focused coping associated with experiencing verbal violence from dentists, patients, and guardians. These findings confirm the need to reduce verbal violence, control emotional responses after exposure to verbal violence, and use more problem-focused coping measures. Dental hygienists must develop interpersonal skills and communication techniques and promote professionalism in their workplace to protect themselves from verbal violence at work.

유방절제술을 받은 여성의 건강증진행위에 관한 연구 (A Study on Health Promoting Behavior In Post-Mastectomy Patients)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among perceived health status, self-esteem, self-efficacy and health promoting behavior, and to determine the predictors of health promoting behavior in post-mastectomy patients. The study, a descriptive correlational study, was done with structural questionnaires. A total of 51 post-mastectomy subjects from C university hospital in Kwang-ju, South Korea completed mail-in self-reporting questionnaires during a three month period from March to June, 1999. The data were collected using Lawstone's(1982) perceived health status scale, Rosenberg's(1965) self-esteem scale, the modified self-efficacy scale(Shere et al, 1982), and the modified health promoting lifestyle profile (Walker et al, 1987). The data obtained were analyzed according to percentage, mean and standard deviation, principal component analysis, varimax rotation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows: 1. The health promoting behavior measurement resulted in six factors. Each factor was labelled as follows: self-actualization, nutrition, stress management, exercise, health responsibility and interpersonal support. The total percent of variance explained by the six factors was 58.4%. 2. The mean score of health promoting behavior was 85.92(range 58~117). The scores of six factor were nutrition 3.20, self-actualization 2.59, stress management 2.58, interpersonal support 2.58, health responsibility 2.49, and exercise 2.34 on a four point scale. 3. When the score of health promoting behavior factors were compared by general characteristics. Factor I: self-actualization, differed significantly by the frequency of pregnancy (F=3.06, p=.037). Factor II: nutrition differed significantly by drinking experience(t=-2.26, p=.028) and the pre- or post stage of menopause(F=2.69, p=078). FactorIII: stress management differed significantly depending on regularity of mensturation(t=-2.12, p= .042). FactorIV: exercise differed significantly by type of religion (F=2.49, p=.072), marital status(F=5.03, p=.010), and feeding type (F=2.64, p=.036). Factor V: health responsibility differed significantly by regularity of mensturation(t=2.18, p=.037). 4. The total health promoting behavior score was significantly related to self-esteem and perceived health status(r=.610, p.006; r= .378, p=.006). The score of selfactualization also corresponded with selfesteem and perceived health status(r=.556, p=.001; r=.343, p=.013). 5. The predictor to explain the score of health promoting behavior was self-esteem, which accounted for 37.1% of the total variance. The predictor to explain the score of self-actualization was self-esteem, which accounted for 30.9% of the total variance. The score of nutrition was primarily affected by both premenopause and drinking experience, which accounted for 13.1% and 9.5% respectively. Finally, the score of exercise was dictated by marriage, Buddhism, no experience of breast feeding, which accounted for 17%, 9.8%, & 5.2% respectively. In conclusion, self-esteem is the main predictor for health promoting behavior in post-mastectomy women. These findings suggest a need for nursing strategies which promote self-esteem in such patients.

간호대학생의 임상실습 중 폭력경험과 임상학습환경이 직업정체성에 미치는 영향 (The influence of experienced violence and the clinical learning environment on vocational identity in nursing students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the learning environment on nursing students' clinical practice education and the violence experienced during clinical practice on vocational identity. Methods: The design of the study was a descriptive survey, and data were collected from November 15 to November 27, 2019. The data of the study were obtained from 515 nursing students attending three universities using self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: For the experience of violence, verbal violence (98.3%) was the type most commonly experienced, and patients (97.7%) were the most frequent perpetrators. The clinical learning environment was perceived differently according to gender, personality, interpersonal relationship, satisfaction with nursing, clinical practice satisfaction, violence prevention education, the need for violence prevention education, sexual violence experiences, and violent perpetrators. The most influential factor on vocational identity was satisfaction with the nursing major (β=0.24, p<.001), followed by extroverted personality (β=0.18, p<.001), clinical learning environment (β=0.15, p=.001), satisfaction with clinical practice (β=0.15, p=.002), and the experience of violence by patients (β=-0.10, p=.016), which together explained 24.1% of the variance in the model. Conclusion: It is necessary to make efforts to ensure that students do not experience violence during clinical practice, to maintain a close cooperative relationship between university and clinical institutions to improve the learning environment for clinical practice, and to make the clinical field an educational learning environment.

하이브리드 교수 모델을 이용한 수업 효과 분석 (Analyzing the Effectiveness of Education Utilizing Hybrid Model)

  • 본 연구는 하이브리드 수업 구성에 따른 효과를 분석하기 위하여 인성교양과목 중의 하나인 '21세기 리더십' 과목을 선정하고, 이를 동일한 과목으로 2개 반을 개설하여 격주형 모형과 혼합형 모형으로 수행하고 이를 비교 분석하였다. 이를 위해 해당 과목을 수강했던 64명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였고, SPSS 21.0프로그램을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 리더십 지식은 격주형과 혼합형 모두 유의하게 향상되었으며, 총괄평가인 기말고사 성적은 혼합형에서 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 무조건적인 자기수용의 경우, 혼합형에서만 유의한 증가가 있었다. 셋째, 리더십 생활기술의 증진은 혼합형에서만 유의한 증가가 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 리더십 과목의 경우, 학생들의 만족도를 높이고 동시에 학습효과도 함께 극대화할 수 있도록 혼합형 하이브리드 모형을 채택하되, 학생들이 참여와 실습을 통해 인간관계를 경험하고 리더십을 개발할 수 있도록 온라인 강의보다는 오프라인 강의에 비중을 더 두는 것이 효과적일 것임을 결론짓고 본 연구에 대한 제한점과 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

의과대학생의 정서지능이 공감에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Emotional Intelligence on Empathy in Medical Students)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of subscales of emotional intelligence on empathy in first-year medical students. Methods : A total of 215 first-year medical students were eligible for this study. Demographic factors (age, sex, and medical school entrance type) and measures for emotional intelligence and empathy, such as the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, were included in the survey. The relationship between emotional intelligence and empathy was analyzed by multiple linear regression, adjusting for age, sex, and entrance type. Results : The female students' level of emotional intelligence was higher than the male students for the self-emotional appraisal (p=0.029) and others' emotional appraisal (p=0.006) subscales. Meanwhile, the graduate-entry students scored higher for the use of emotion (p<0.001) and regulation of emotion (p=0.010) subscales than the direct-entry students. For empathy, the female students revealed a higher score in empathic concern (p=0.009) than the male students, and graduate-entry students scored higher than the direct-entry students in perspective taking (p=0.004) and empathic concern (p<0.001). The multiple linear regression analysis has identified significant influences of subscales of emotional intelligence on empathy: others' emotional appraisal on perspective taking (p<0.001), self-emotional appraisal (p=0.035) and regulation of emotion (p=0.023) on fantasy, others' emotional appraisal (p<0.001) and use of emotion (p=0.020) on empathic concern, and self-emotional appraisal (p=0.033) and regulation of emotion (p<0.001) on personal distress. Conclusion : This study's findings suggest that emotional intelligence may affect empathy in medical students, which can have implications for developing educational strategies to enhance empathetic attitudes in medical students.

중년여성의 강인성, 폐경지식과 폐경관리에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hardiness, Knowledge of Menopause, Menopausal Management among Middle Aged Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to figure out related factors to the self-reported climacteric symptoms and the relationship among the health promoting behaviors, climacteric symptoms and degree of Sanhujori, the Korean traditional postpartal care. A cross-sectional survey design was employed in this study. The subjects were 108 middle-aged women who were non-hystrectomized and ranged in age from 40 to 60 years. They were selected in seoul and Kyoung-ki province, Korea, Data were collected from Oct.25 Nov. 10, 1997 by a structured questionnaire. The instruments used for this study were the revised health Promotion Lifestyle(HPLP) developed by Walker, Sechrist & Pender, and revised Climacteric Symptoms Scale developed by Chi, Sung Ai. the data were analyzed by the SPSS/$PC^+$ program using t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test as a post hoc and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The results of the study were as follows ; 1. The mean score of health promoting behaviors was low($2.42{\pm}0.35$). There were statistically significant differences in the score of health promoting behaviors according to the educational background, family income, marital satisfaction, whether or not taking a restorative food and degree of Sanhujori, especially the period (t=-2.07, F=2.60~7.57, p<0.05). 2. The mean score of score self-reported climacteric symptoms was 1.69%;99% of middle-aged women had symptoms. There were statically significant differences in the score of middle -aged women's self-reported climacteric symptoms according to the age, number of children, educational background, occupation, family income, marital satisfaction, whether or not receiving hormon replacement therapy (HRT) or consultation by a professional, perceived health status and self evaluation of Sanhujori(t=-2.04~3.69, F=2.87~11.63, p<0.05). 3. women's degree of Sanhujori was a positive correlation with health promoting behaviors(r=0.34, p=0.00) and negative correlation with the degree of self-reported climacteric symptoms(r=-0.19,p=0.03). 4. The influencing factors to the climacteric symptoms were self actualization, interpersonal support, and perceived health status among the health promoting behaviors with 57% of variance($R^2$=0.57). 5. The middle-aged women's type of coping pattern for the climacteric symptoms was classified as active behavioral coping, spiritual & psychological coping, and negative coping. In conclusion, to intervene the middle aged women's climacteric symptoms and develop nursing strategies for their health, health promoting behavior, especially ; self actualization, interpersonal support, and perceived health status should be considered. And, as the primary prevention strategy for women's health during the period of childbearing and also middle age, especially for the climacteric symptoms, Sanhujori should be reconsidered.

사회 연결망 유형과 치매노인의 삶의 질 (Social Network Type and Quality of Life of Elderly People with Dementia)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 치매노인들의 사회 연결망 유형을 분류한 후, 유형과 삶의 질과의 관계를 파악하는 것이다. 이는 사회 연결망이 치매노인의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위함이다. 조사대상은 대구광역시 동구보건소에 등록된 경증 치매노인 중 본 연구에 동의한 222명으로 하였으며, 조사는 7월 17일부터 8월 31일까지 구조화된 설문지를 활용하여 면접조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여, 기술통계와 일원배치분산분석, 회귀분석, 계층적 군집분석을 하였다. 치매노인의 사회 연결망 유형은 세 가지, 비활동고립형, 활동자립형, 비활동의존형으로 분류되었으며, 유형별 응답자들의 삶의 질 차이는 통계적으로 유의하게 달랐다. 분석 결과, 활동자립형 연결망이 삶의 질이 가장 높았고, 비활동고립형이 가장 낮았다. 결론적으로, 사회 연결망 유형의 분류는 치매노인의 대인관계 환경을 숙고하게 된다. 현재의 분석상 나타난 것처럼 치매노인의 삶의 질에 미친 효과는 타당한 하나의 실례로 여겨진다. 치매노인을 위한 서비스 프로그램은 사회 연결망 유형을 토대로 다르게 제공되어야 함을 시사한다.

간호대학생의 자기효능감, 진로태도성숙도, 대학생활만족도간의 관계 (Correlation among Self-Efficacy, Career Attitude Maturity, and Campus Life Satisfaction in Nursing College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among self-efficacy, career attitude maturity, and campus life satisfaction in nursing college students. Method: A total of 277 students agreed to participate in this study from 1 May 2016 to 31 May 2016. Data analysis included t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The results of the analysis revealed a positive correlation between campus life satisfaction and career attitude maturity (r=.316, p=.001); between campus life satisfaction and self-efficacy (r=.256, p=.001); and between self-efficacy and career attitude maturity (r=.469, p=.001). Career attitude maturity had the highest R-squared value of 10% (${\beta}=.22$) for campus life satisfaction, while peer relationships had an R-squared value of 2% (${\beta}=-.18$), residence type of 2% (${\beta}=.14$), and self-efficacy of 1% (${\beta}=.14$), for a total R-squared value of 15%. Discussion: Given these results, individual counseling is recommended to improve campus life satisfaction by helping college students to acquire the skills to foster good interpersonal relationships, self-efficacy, and a positive view of their future vocation. Furthermore, it is essential for an educational environment to support students to ensure that after graduation they become fully-fledged members of society with a sense of pride in their profession.

모바일 게임 중이용자 영향요인에 관한 연구 - 게임 이용자 속성을 중심으로 (A study of influence factor on Mobile Game Heavy User - focused on Game User Properties)

  • 본 연구는 상호작용성이 가장 두드러진 디지털콘텐츠 중 하나인 모바일 게임 이용자 속성과 모바일 게임 이용 행태의 상관관계에 대하여 탐색한다. 게임 이용 행태에 영향을 끼치는 다양한 요인 중 이용자 자체의 속성에 주목하고, 이용자의 개인적, 심리적 속성이 실제 게임 이용에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이용자 속성은 크게 '대인관계, '게임 숙련도, '혁신 성향, '자아존중감, '경쟁심'의 다섯 가지 요인으로 구분하였으며 게임 이용 행태는 크게 두 가지로 나누어 정량적인 행태인 '이용량(이용시간, 소비비용)'과 정성적인 행태인 '지각된 만족도(지각된 즐거움, 지각된 서비스 품질, 지각된 가격)'로 구분하였다. 연구 결과 대체적으로 본 논문에서 상정한 이용자 속성이 강할수록, 이용량과 지각된 만족도가 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 어떠한 속성을 가진 이용자가 더 많이 게임 콘텐츠를 이용하고, 소비하고, 만족하는가를 살펴봄으로써 기존 디지털 콘텐츠의 이용 행태 및 중(重)이용에 관한 연구에 기여하고자 한다.

조직관련상황에서 구성원이 느끼는 불안 정서의 유형과 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on type and characteristics of organization-related negative affect.)

  • 본 연구에서는 조직상황에서 구성원이 느끼는 부정적 정서인 조직불안의 유형과 특성을 알아보기 위해 측정도구를 제작하고, 조직관련 부정적 정서가 직무만족이나 조직몰입과 같은 변인에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 탐색적 연구를 수행하였다. 예비연구를 통해 관련 문항을 수집한 것을 전문가 평정을 통해 97개의 문항을 선정하였다. 선정된 97개의 문항을 직장인 435명을 대상으로 조사한 결과를 바탕으로 28개 문항으로 이루어진 예비 조직불안 척도를 제작하였다. 예비 조직불안척도를 566명의 직장인을 대상으로 조사한 결과, 최종적으로 20문항으로 이루어진 조직관련 불안척도를 구성하였다. 조직불안척도는 4가지 하위요인으로 구분되었는데, 그 요인들은 미래에 대한 불확실성 지각요인, 통제감 지각요인, 대인관계 불안요인, 대안에 대한 지각요인이다. 이 연구에서는 응답자 특성변인으로 남녀, 연령, 직종, 업종, 직위, 개인별 수입, 학력을 사용하였다. 연구결과 응답자 특성변인에 따라 조직불안이 차이를 보였다. 연령대별로는 40대, 직종별로는 생산직, 업종별로는 제조업, 직위가 낮을수록, 월수입이 400-500일 경우, 학력이 낮을수록 조직불안을 더 많이 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 조직관련 불안정서와 직무만족, 조직몰입, 조직문화 생활만족도, 자기효능감, 사회적 지지간의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 조직관련 불안정서와 직무만족, 조직몰입은 부적인 관계를 보여주었고, 조직의 문화가 집단문화, 개발문화, 합리문화를 지향하고, 조직구성원의 생활만족도와 자기효능감이 높을수록, 사회적 지원을 많이 받을수록, 조직불안을 경험한다 하더라도 직무만족을 더 하는 것으로 나타났다. 조직불안이 조직몰입에 미치는 효과가 집단문화, 개발문화, 합리문화, 생활만족도 사회적 지지에 의해 부분 매개되었고, 자기효능감의 매개효과가 나타나지 않았다. 연구결과는 조직구성원들이 조직불안을 느끼고 있다 하더라도, 조직이 조직문화를 변화시키거나, 자기효능감을 높여주거나, 사회적 지지를 더 많이 해 줄 수 상황을 만들 수 있다면 직무만족과 조직몰입을 증가시키는 긍정적 효과를 가져올 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였다.
