  • In today's world, the design industry is becoming more complex, with the development of networks such as the internet and revolutionary changes in information and telecommunications. As the demand for designers to cope with various situations occurring in these industrial sites or solve problems in practice promptly is required, a capstone design program was developed in collaboration with the industry. Capstone design classes have positive effects on creative problem solving ability, academic achievement and learning satisfaction by allowing students to think and experience the practical problems of the industrial field. It is also effective in improving communication, creative thinking and critical thinking. The purpose of this study is to search for talent training methods needed in the fashion industry and to develop effective programs through capstone design class studies conducted in the fourth grade of fashion design majors from 2017 to 2019 (6 semesters). Through these studies, the aim is to search for talent training methods needed in the fashion industry and to develop effective programs. If the capstone design learning method is used as a method of solving problems through close communication between the company and the educational field as an industry-academia cooperation system, it is expected to be positioned as a field-type human resource education method that is required in the industrial field.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest strategies for Korean companies to overcome the limitation of the international trade structure between Korea and Vietnam. This study examined foreign multinational distribution companies, Korean distribution companies and domestic distribution companies in Vietnam. A SWOT analysis conducted to propose effective strategies revealed that Saigon Mart, Vietnam's largest regional mart company, needs an O/W strategy and to capture market opportunities quickly through strategic alliances with foreign distribution companies, in order to gradually complement their core competencies internally. Lotte mart in Vietnam, one of Korea's three largest marts, needs to establish a T/S strategy in order to overcome the crisis situation in Vietnam market and succeed in business. BIG C Mart has over 40,000 diverse products needs to use a T/S strategy in order to effectively overcome the crisis situation in the Vietnamese market and to increase the possibility of business success. From the study findings and conclusions, various implications are derived. • Intelligent transportation systems are one of the most important new forms of infrastructure on domestic roads, and is a system that makes possible the most efficient movement of vehicles on a road. The High Pass system, which is a domestic intelligent transportation system, started a little later than in other countries but developed at a rapid pace. With the recent introduction of smart tolling technology, it provided an opportunity to stop and review the tolling system. This study aims to investigate the driving method and results of LDCC for domestic smart towing through case study. Unlike other companies, Lotte Data Communication Company has long invested in payment systems. It has little experience investing in infrastructure, but participated in the Smart Toll System at the Gwangan Bridge in cooperation with the Busan City government, to lead the development of intelligent transportation systems. LDCC, which has made new investments, not only exceeded its existing core competencies, but also upgraded Korea's tolling system's ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improved its financial performance.

  • This study aims to identify the process by which local farmers are integrated into the transnational agri-food system. To that end, this study investigated the purpose and reality of the contract farming for Gold Kiwifruit between Zespri International, a transnational fruit producer based in New Zealand, and farmers in Seogwipo-si, Jeju Island. Through this contract farming, Jeju farmers were contributing to Zespri's global distribution strategy and helping the corporation meet local demand. In the process, local farmers were being integrated into the transnational agri-food system led by Zespri. In the cooperation between these two parties, the company took a limited role in providing production resources, and it consulted local producers in applying production technologies to local sites. Thanks to such practices, the company's influence on local farming was limited, and local farmers were able to function proactively in production. Therefore, the company and the farmers maintained a horizontal relationship.

  • In recent, the ships of the Republic of Korea have been suffered from acts of piracy at the seas. With the increase of the threats from the acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships, some of the countries have dispatched their navy warships to the international waters and to carry out military operation against the pirates. However, the total eradication of the piracy has not been achieved due to the lack of international cooperation and the limitation of the international maritime convention itself. In addition, the absence of counter-measures to be taken by the ships itself including the employment of the professional maritime security forces should not be overlooked. In this connection, this paper examined the reality of the piracy together with armed robberies at the seas and the problems in the response were also analyzed. Based on the research, it suggested some possible measures with special reference to the private security. The limitation of this paper is that it only focus on the aspect of the private security. In this paper, the cooperation among the countries according to the maritime convention and internationally accepted norms and practices. To achieve the goals of this paper, through the comparative review of the related literatures, the practical measures applicable to the prevention of the piracy were suggested.

  • This study developed a model to evaluate the quality management system of a medical device manufacturing company, and applied it to medical device manufacturers to understand the impact on business performance in response to international regulations and industry's change. This study prepared preliminary items, defined four (4) major factors (Plan-Do-Check-Act) that consist of the evaluation layers and items per category according to prior research review and expert interview, and calculated the weight and importance using AHP. The study results showed that responsibility & authority and quality objective in Planning Category, product-related requirement and R&D in Doing Category, Measuring and monitoring in Check Category, and review of meeting Regulatory and regulation in Action Category are relatively more important factors. The evaluation model developed based on the calculated weight and importance to business performance was applied to medical device manufacturers to investigate and analyze the implementation level of QMS and its impact on business performance according to each category. Most medical device manufacturers to be studied showed a reasonable level of QMS and effective business performance. Almost all the evaluation layers and items in the four (4) factors had a significant influence on business performance. Although the medical device quality management system is aimed mainly at license acquisition, it is important that management environment factors not related directly to licensing and authorization are important to business performance, and it is effective when these factors are integrated and operated within and outside the manufacturer.

In depth research was achieved by participating and observing in an implementation project at an actual PCB manufacturer. It is hoped that this study will contribute a valuable reference resource for future PCB manufacturers that wish to select or implement ERP systems. The first step in implementing ERP software is to set a clear target. At the same time, the tasks of each department and the system of cooperation between departments must be clearly defined. In this way, the cycle time of each flow and the accuracy of data will both be improved. In order to ensure smooth implementation of an ERP project, the followings are key factors: (1) an ERP system that suits the PCB industry; (2) effective project management; (3) effective project cost/budget control; (4) project problem management system; (5) comprehensive implementation method and information technology (IT), etc. By keeping to these principals, Company A achieved rapid transactions, and lower total cycle times and inventory levels, and other such benefits that had been predicted.

  • Recently Korean textile industry has been in the phase that requires its strategy change from the less-develped country style of the labor-intensive products to the developed country style of the technology-intensive products. It needs to make more efforts to develop the value-added products to meet the customer's various needs. In addition, development of technology, equipment, and design is required to implement its corporate strategy successfully. Although Korean textile companies have currently kept skillful labor and advanced equipments, they are losing their share in the international textile markets. This is mainly because corporate management has not been involved with efficient strategy. Strategy is an adoption of a company to environment by its corporate members, thus leading to the requirement of coordination of the main functions such as manufacturing and marketing. In fact, the coordination of the two departments toward reaching the corporate goal is not easy since the two are interested in different areas, respectively. Manufacturing people show their interests in production capacity, equipment layout, process technology, quality, purchasing, and labor while marketing people, target customer, product mix, advertisement, product specification, and customer service. For this reason, conflicts sometimes happen between the two departments. There are, however, many area that need a horizontal cooperation, for instance, in layout, process technology, product mix, and potential demand. Therefore, reciprocal coordination is necessary for achieving the firm's common objectives. This study was concerned with determining the factors that enhance the competitiveness of textile firms so that they could reach the common goal of the two departments with a horizontal collaboration.
