Aluminium and aluminium alloys have the high electrical and heat conductivity. It gives rise to difficulties for a choice of electrodes material for their contact electric welding. This paper describes the investigations performed to solve the above problem. The purpose of this investigation was to obtain dispersion-hardening alloys by the internal oxidation method, to optimize their contents and treatment modes, to produce electrodes of these alloys and to test them. The strengthing effect of alloys with oxide particles depends on their size stability at high temperatures. Despite of the fact, that oxides are the most stable of all the non-metallic phases their coagulation takes place. Based on the early results, we chose two types of alloys, first No. 1 Cu - 0,4%Al and second No. 2 Cu - 0,2%Be for production of electrodes. These alloys had not additional alloying elements. These alloys were prepared as 1 mm plates and flake-formed 200 m thick, and also No. 1 as a powder of size 100 mkm (received from Korea). The large samples for electrodes were produced by three methods : explosive welding method, dynamic one including the explosion compression of electrode blank and the quasi-dynamic method including the high-speed compression of dense briquest and the further hot extrusion of a rod.
A composite of TiB2-Al2O3 system was successfully prepared from a mixture of TiO2, B2O3, and Al by self-propagating high temperature synthesis (SHS) with a novel characteristic, utilizing the internal oxidation heat of aluminium metal of the mixture, instead of by a conventional technique, externally heating a mixture of Ti, B and Al2O3. From a mixture with B/Ti molar ratio of =2.0, pure two phases of TiB2 and $\alpha$-Al2O3 with good crystallinity and small, uniform sizes were formed. However, when the B/Ti molar ratio of the mixture goes to a value less than 2.0, in addition to the above main minerals, a small smounts of metastable phases such as TiB and Ti3B4 were formed. It was found that about 60%, the optimum green density of compacts gave their highest reaction rate and temperature during SHS process. TiB2-Al2O3 system composite with B/Ti molar ratio of =2.0 could be pressurelessly sintered even at 190$0^{\circ}C$ under Ar gas flows without any addition of sintering aids, showing their good properties such as 91.2% in relative density, 2750 kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ in Vickers hardness and 2620 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in flexural strength.
Nickel powders were obtained by various preparation methods, and their sintering characteristics were investigated. Nickel powders made by wet chemical process (WCP) had a higher surface area and more narrow size distribution than that of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Nickel-oxide powders by the WCP method were prepared at $200^{\circ}C$ for 3 hr. The oxidation behaviour of nickel-oxide powder is similar with that of the CVD method. Nickel powders made by the WCP method showed a higher shrinkage in the range of $600^{\circ}C$∼$900^{\circ}C$ than that of commercial powder made by the CVD method. The similar results were observed on the surface microstructure of sintered bodies by SEM measurements.
Ag-Cd alloy has been widely used as an electrical contact material, since Ag-Cd alloy has a good wear resistance and stable contact resistance. But nowadays Ag-Cd alloy is not considered as electrical contact material any more due to detrimental effect on environments. Currently, active researches are being performed on ($Ag-SnO_2$ and $Ag-SnO_{2}-In_{2}O_{3}$) as an alternative solution which can fix the remaining environmental problems. However, $In_{2}O_{3}$ is relatively expensive and Ag-Sn alloy has low wear resistance. Our recent research results show that Ag-X%Zn-Y%Sn has similar physical and chemical properties. In the present study, so we tried to change and to optimize the Zn oxide content to over 6 wt% and Sn oxide content with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 wt%. Results obtained from the experiments on the Ag-X%ZnO-Y%$SnO_2$ are discussed.
A solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry utilizing $^{13}C$-formate as an internal standard for the determination of formate was proved to be applicable as a reliable quantitative method in several plants. We were the first to discover that trees contain larger pool sizes of formate than herbs. Our data also showed that the formate level of the leaves increased after the methanol-spraying, suggesting that methanol oxidation could convert formaldehyde into formate. In addition, drought and chilling led to the increase of endogenous formate in Arabidospsis thaliana. These results confirmed that formate is a universal stress signal in plants.
Objectives : To discuss the biocompatibility of stainless steel for using acupuncture needles. Results and Conclusions : It is widely assumed that stainless steel is one of the good corrosion-resistant materials and is safe for human body, Most of metal acupuncture needles are made of STS304 and STS316 in light of human body safety: STS304 in more differences between STS304 and STS316 in light of human body safety: STS304 is more vulnerable to oxidation than STS316. A variety of literature survey showed that although STS316 is more corrosion-resistant than STS304 there is no evidence supporting the hypothesis that STS304 has the potential danger to human body, Further study would be necessary to draw more decisive conclusion.

Osteoarthritis is thought to be induced by the ageing-related loss of homeostatic balance between degeneration and repair mechanism around cartilage tissue in which inflammatory mediators such as reactive oxygen species, cytokines and prostaglandins are prone to overproduction under undesirable physiological conditions. Phlorotannins are unique polyphenolic compounds bearing dibenzo-1,4-dioxin skeleton which are not found in terrestrial plants but found only in some brown algal species such as Ecklonia and Eisenia families. Phlorotanninrich extracts of Ecklonia cava including LAD103 showed significant antioxidant activities such as DPPH radical scavenging, ferric ion reduction, peroxynitrite scavenging, and inhibition of LDL oxidation, indicating their possible antioxidative interference both in onset and downstream consequences of osteoarthritis. LAD103 also showed significant down regulation of $PGE_2$ generation in LPS-treated RAW 246.7 cells, and significant inhibition of human recombinant interleukin-$1{\alpha}$-induced proteoglycan degradation, indicating its beneficial involvement in pathophysiological consequences of osteoarthritis, the mechanism of which needs further investigation. Since LAD103 showed strong therapeutic potentials in arthritic treatment through several in vitro experiments, it is highly encouraged to perform further mechanistic and efficacy studies.
In this work, an optimum condition of electrolytes preparation for photovoltaic cells application was investigated experimentally in terms of impedance and conversion efficiency of the cells. 3-methoxyppropionitrie and redox pairs with LiI and $I_2$ were used as stable solvents for fabrication of electrolyte. Efficiency comparison of the prepared cells carried out for various additives and ionic liquids. From the results, there was an optimum concentration (about 0.3 M) of ionic liquids for efficient cell fabrication. For case of electrolyte using single DMAp additive, the maximum conversion efficiency of the cell was 6.4%($V_{oc}$: 0.78V, $J_{sc}$: 14.4 mA/$cm^2$, ff: 0.57). For case of electrolyte using both DMAp and CEMim additives, the maximum conversion efficiency of the cell was 7.2%($V_{oc}$: 0.79V, $J_{sc}$: 16 mA/$cm^2$, ff: 0.57). From the result of electrochemical impedance measurement, both Z1 and Z3 values of binary additives-based cell decreased compared to those of single additive-based. This is due to the decreased in internal and charge transfer resistivities of the cells.
In order to look into the internal structure and electrical properties of insulating Silicone rubbers added reinforcing fillers ; Silica(0-140 phr ), and to examine the behavior of charged particles, and the properties of thermally stimulated current (TSC) are investigated, respectively. From the TSC which are formed by applying the electric field of 2~5 ㎸/mm to specimen at temperature range from -150 to $270^{\circ}C$, the results arp as following. In the case of non-filled specimen, four peaks of $\delta$, $\gamma$ , $\beta$ and u are obtained at the temperature of $-120^{\circ}C$, $-60^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$ and $130^{\circ}C$, respectively and the case of filled specimen, three peaks of $\delta$, ${\alpha}_2$ and ${\alpha}_1$ are observed at the temperature of of $-120^{\circ}C$, $80^{\circ}C$ and $130^{\circ}C$, respectively. The origins of these peaks are that, the $\delta$ peak seems to the result from the contribution of side chain methyl radical, and the $\beta$ peak from the depolarization of space charge polarization owing to added imputity during during manufacturing specimens, and the $\beta$ peak from the orientation of $Si-CH_3$dipole, and the ${\alpha}_2$ near the temperature of $130^{\circ}C$ from carboxyl acid that is formed by the thermal oxidation of high temperature.
The effects of an organic additive, naphthalene trisulfonic acid (NTSA), contained in the nickel sulfamate bath on the surface properties of the electrodeposited nickel layer were investigated through electrochemical technique, x-ray diffraction analysis, and microscopic observation. The addition of NTSA facilitated the oxidation process of electrodeposited nickel layer during anodic scan and also increased the hardness and internal stress of the nickel film as the applied current density became higher. It seems that NTSA modulated the deposit structure during electrodeposition and so induced higher distribution of (110) orientation with respect to (200). With the increase of the NTSA in the bath, nickel layer was formed in small grain size, which resulted in enhanced surface evenness and brightness.
