루이스 칸의 회화에 나타난 건축적 공간표현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Presentation of Architectural Space in Painting of Louis I. Kahn)

  • The purpose of this study is to show the development process of space concept by studying on the Louis I. Kahn's painting as pre-architectural thinking. Generally the idea of an architect is represented with lots of mediums, and the architectural thinking is developed through the process. In his early days, he, as an architect, made many travel sketches of Europe. In these clays, painting was the most significant medium to him. Since 1950's, he also left lots of sketches affected by abstract painting in addition to travel sketches. The results of this study were as follows: He found the image of antiquity from his painting and he made this image into abstraction in the facade. And the image of ruins was translated the layered space which was the transitional space. And he presented 'marche' through the series of painting of various view point. The Concept of 'marche' was translated into the connections of repetitive mass in the architectural space.

건축 사유체계 변화에 의한 색채사용 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristics of color by change in architectural thinking system)

  • Architectural color has been preserved the multiple characteristics reflected the change of social value criteria and technical development. Especially, the change of technical paradigm has led to variation from simple and fixed color system, as through the considerable change of architect's subject thinking, favored and symbolic system. Now, architectural color has also been revealed as the timely, moving, behavioral and existent color by anthropolatric thinking system. Therefore, it could be transformed expressive system reflected from abstract-pictorial characteristics, from the fixed to non-determining system, constructive to non-constructive system, context to expressive system, reasonal to emotional system, respectively. So, the range of architectural color has been extended as a element in reinforced the planned concept of the architect beyond the past decorated and symbolic color scope. As thereinafter, future's architectural color could be expected to concrete to the public-friendly relation system, developed widely to the system for reinforcing the concept not introduction of meaningless, fragmental and instinct color through the relational adaptation with design concept.

'레드 빈' 시대 쉬테-리호츠키의 주거 계획 개념에 대한 연구 (A Study on Schütte-Lihotzky's Concepts of Residential Planning in the Red Wien Era)

  • In addition to the well-known 'Frankfurt Kitchen', Austrian female architect Margarette $Sch{\ddot{u}}tte-Lihotzky^{\prime}s$ architectural achievements include a study on the housing for working class, contribution to the resident participation movement, the planning of multi-family housing complexes, rational floor plan design, and the design and study of interior spaces. The purpose of this study is to investigate how she, who played intermediate roles between an architect and a social reformer, reflected social issues and the demands of living on the housing plans in the Red Wien era and to discuss diverse issues of modern residential planning furthermore. In this study, first, the housing situation in Vienna immediately after World War I was grasped and the architectural and housing discourses at that time were examined. Thereafter, cases of $Sch{\ddot{u}}tte-Lihotzky^{\prime}s$ works were investigated and analyzed. In the period of transition to modern times, the concepts of residential planning of $Sch{\ddot{u}}tte-Lihotzky$, who began as a social democratic architect, often showed transitional tendencies in private and public functions of housing, spatial distribution for the daily life, and functions of modern family and home. However, thereafter, the paradigm of the rationalism-functionalism was already sprouting from her architectural and residential plans. In conclusion, it can be said that the works of $Sch{\ddot{u}}tte-Lihotzky$ has realized the social responsibility of residential planning and become a cornerstone of the later modern housing.

  • The purpose of this study is to find good references for the administration & operating system of Korea Architects License Examination. It is because we may predict to discuss with its system to develop the international level. To achieve this goal, the 'Architect Registration $Examination^{(R)}$($ARE^{(R)}$)' in the USA was selected and analysed as one of the role models. As a result, the analysed key contents and study scopes are as below; 1) Consideration the evolutionary process to the administration & operating system of the Architect Registration $Examination^{(R)}$ in the USA 2) Working role the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards(NCARB) for the $ARE^{(R)}$ 3) Analysis the carrying out system of the cooperation network & infrastructure for the $ARE^{(R)}$ 4) Analysis the operating regulation & system of the newest version in the $ARE^{(R)}4.0$ 5) Consideration the administration & operating system's know-how of the Computer Based Examination in the $ARE^{(R)}$ 6) Research the taking exam.'s full process of the $ARE^{(R)}4.0$ from the beginning to the end 7) Comparative analysis between the Korea Architects License Examination and the $ARE^{(R)}4.0$.

실내장식 발생의 건축사적 의미에 대한 연구 - 프랑스를 중심으로 (A Study on the Meaning in Architectural History of the Occurrence of Interior Decoration, Mainly Focusing on the French Case)

  • The goal of this paper is to explore the relationship between modern architecture and interior decoration through the study of decoration and ornament. It is noteworthy that modern architecture and interior decoration occurred at about the same time. Our analysis shows that the two are closely related to each other. That is to say, modern architecture tried to eliminate ornaments (and decorations), symbols and meanings from the built environments and to embody efficiency and rationality instead. However, in the interior of the building designed and completed by the architect, the user began to decorate his world through decoration or to refer such work to the new expert 'interior decorator'. In a word, the latter took charge of the role deserted by modern architecture.

  • This study is to present the design methods in the Schrider House executed by the Dutch architect G. Th, Rieveld. The plastic principles which underlies the architecture design are examined through the analysis of the 'new structural joint system (Cartesian Coordinate System) ' and ' Color-Plasticity ' which characterized a series of his furniture design from 1918 to 1924. It indicates that Reitveld attempted to realize the simplicity, clarity and flexibility of spatial expression in his first independent architecture by the application of technical skills which have been developed in his early days.

Modern living people quest for peace and tranquility has led designers and decorators to look to East to the natural harmony and blance of Asian home and to the simpicity of their art and design. Zen style interiors are simplicity and serenity. These imply the paring down of a cluttered environment and concentration on creating harmony. balance, touch, and texture. By achieving these things you can create a place where the spiritual or inner needs can be addressed and where you can indulge in calming or stimulating the senses with light, space, and free flow of energy In Zen interior we approach 'Homoㆍaesthetcus' by feeling and' Homoㆍreligious' by mind. "Less is more", this phrase has made the pared down environment an interior form.

  • This study aims from being meaning of centrality to possibility of space composition in the Contemporary Interior Space os forming of center and way of being. There it is studied analysed architect's work on character of certrality. 손 박물관(죤 손경주택) 실내공간 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Interior Space of The Soane's Museum)

  • Sir John Sonae(1753-1837) was the most original English architect of 19c. his extremely personal style is superficially neo-classical but, romantic or ' picturesque' in its complicated and unexpected spatial interplay. The Soane's style was one of the curiosities of European architecture. Sir John Soane, like mackintosh, was best known for his interior spaces. He used his own house as a laboratory of spatial experimentation to develop his spatial ideas. The objective of this study was to examine his architectural style through his various architectural works and analyze . The Soane's Museum (his house, No.12.13.14 Lincoln's Inn Fields. London, UK) in order to find inter design elements which represent the best of Soane's interior design effects. As a result , this study found that Soane held no theories as to proportion . It gives the conditon of the building's freedom. He shows the ' primitivism facade and the simple neoclassical symmetry exterior arrangement. As interior design elements he used the layered structure, the natural skylight, the pendentive dome, the space in space, the pictures que style. These elements create magical interior space of the Sonane's Museum. THe spatial intrigue is further enhanced by various degrees of lighting that additionally emphasize the three-dimensional quality of the object loaded walls and piers. One can always look through to space beyond many individual object, both horizontally and vertically. These interior elements can be used for the modern interior design development in order to create the expansion of space and the territoriality of space.

  • In the turn of the twentieth century, Vienna emerged as a great cultural centre that stood at the forefront of developments in music, psychology, and the natural sciences. Equally influential, and still tremendously popular today, are the designs of the Wiener $Werkst{\ddot{a}}tte$ a group that was at the heart of the city's cultural scene and whose collaborators included such luminaries as the architect Josef Hoffman and the designer Koloman Moser under the slogan of Gesamtkunstwerk. The term "Gesamtkunstwerk" was introduced in the romantic period. It describes the desire for and practice of combining various art forms into a whole, such as performances that combine text, visual arts, various design and architecture. Richard Wagner was one of the early theorists of the concept, inspiring many modernist artists. As a co-founder of the Wiener $Werkst{\ddot{a}}tte$, Josef Hoffmann had a decisive influence on modern Viennese architecture and Interior design on the basis of the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk. In this view point, this study is to analyze about the generative background and design characteristics of gesamtkunstwerk advocated Wiener $Werkst{\ddot{a}}tte$. Josef Hoffmann was by all accounts a very successful architect and Interior designer in Vienna. His influence would undoubtedly have been felt simply because of his talent and energy. His special ability to range across multiple domains, coupled with a willingness to collaborate with other artists has created a synthesis and synergy that is compelling to this day.
