Recently, according to the increase of income and development of quality of life, the leisure industry has been developed. In particular, the interest of design and manufacture technology of leisure yacht has significantly increased. However, domestic market of leisure ships is currently in its initiating stage. So research and development for structural strength of leisure yacht need to be investigated. In this study, lug of yacht's mast which is known for a critical damage region is explicitly considered. This paper deals with the estimation of stress concentration factors (SCFs) for lug of yacht's mast depending on dimensions of lug using hot spot stress. Also, SCF formulae is suggested using parametric study.

Of interest to second language researchers and classroom teachers today is whether and in what wats formal instruction can promote the development of appropriate use of the target language. Most formal instruction is closely related with the use of textbooks in ESL classrooms, so this study focuses on ESL textbooks. In order to learn to communicate successfully, students should use textbooks which specify the rules of language use for the community in which they are operating. This study examines the speech acts of compliment across 8 middle school English textbooks published in Korea. This study analyses the speech acts of compliment according to the following criteria : 1) vocabulary - adjective, verb, intensifier 2) sentence pattern 3) social strategy - invitation to talk, greetings, farewells, expression of gratitude, etc. 4) types of response. As a result of this study some suggestions is giver to promote the development of appropriate use of English through English textbooks.

The present study proposes a set of activities of teaching English reading through English newspapers to narrow the gap between the English required in authentic situation and the one taught in schools. Newspapers can provide students with opportunities to review what they have studied in the classes. The purpose of this study is, therefore, to investigate how extra-curricular activities using English newspapers have an influence on the development of the three low-achieving high school students' English reading ability. The five-month study yielded that the activities using English newspapers exerted positive effects on the students' interest in English and their English scores. It suggests that using English newspapers as teaching materials may be a desirable way both to motivate students to study English harder and to develop their English reading ability.

Automation of a container terminal is a world-wide tendency nowadays. The interest of ACT (Automated Container Terminal) is increasing more and more because of necessity of container terminal with higher competitive power and ultramodern equipment to down the cost and up the efficiency. ECT (Europe Combined Terminals) and CTA (Container Terminal Altenwerder) have studied a detailed technique for the operation of ACT. In Korea, many projects related to the development of ACT are working at present. However, indiscreet introduction of ACT may cause tremendous loss. Thus it is much important thing that we search relevant automation level or type for an environment In this study, we propose the necessary strategy in developing ACT through analyzing the present condition, automated equipments and property of operation at advanced An. If the strategy is applied in development of domestic ACT, we'll be able to build ACT with higher competitive power.

IFC based open BIM has internationally developed as a solution for interoperability problem among different software applications. Despite much interest and effort, the open BIM technologies are rarely introduced to the construction industry and need more technical development for a practical application as well. This research aims to develop automated code checking modules for quality assurance process of BIM data. The research have analyzed domestic regulations focusing on super-tall buildings and developed open BIM-based code checking modules for the evacuation regulations. The modules are able to validate evacuation regulations such as installation of emergency elevator and fire safety zone. The authors expect to improve the process of BIM quality assurance and enhance the quality of BIM data by this research on automated checking system.

As the Internet service is expanding rapidly, portal sites, a gateway tn the net, are attracting increasing attention these days. As the Internet service has expanded rapidly, so has the interest for portal sites,, which serve as a gateway to the net. Despite the tendency, however, research on a measure by which to evaluate the quality of portal sites or development of such measures has not been fully pursued. As online services, faced with profitability, are considering 'charge per view', the development of a set of quality evaluation measures for portal services will prove to become a valuable instrument in constructing competitive strategies that are vital for survival and growth of a firm. In that regard, this study aims to develop a set of evaluation measures for Internet portal sites by empirically investigating the most common offline measures for quality of services, SERVQUAL, retail SERVQUAL and other evaluation measures for IT-related online services. Moreover, the study offers the strategic implications of the defined measures.

Macrophages are the main effector cells of innate immunity and are involved in inflammatory and anti-infective processes. They also have an essential role in maintaining tissue homeostasis, supporting tissue development, and repairing tissue damage. Until few years ago, it was believed that tissue macrophages derived from circulating blood monocytes, which terminally differentiated in the tissue and unable to proliferate. Recent evidence in the biology of tissue macrophages has uncovered a series of immune and ontogenic features that had been neglected for long, despite old observations. These include origin, heterogeneity, proliferative potential (or self-renewal), polarization, and memory. In recent years, the number of publications on tissue resident macrophages has grown rapidly, highlighting the renewed interest of the immunologists for these key players of innate immunity. This minireview aims to summarizing the new current knowledge in macrophage immunobiology, in order to offer a clear and immediate overview of the field.

As expectations about success of smart phones that install Android, an open mobile platform which was developed by Google, are increasing, the development of applications based on the Android has attracted a lot of interest. Especially, game applications have been well received by users. In this paper, we develop an application based on the Android for curling which was adopted as a competitive sport in the Winter Olympic Games. Curling is a sport game played by two teams. The rules of the game are simple, but it is an intelligent one that requires various strategies for victory. In this paper, the curling game based on the Android provides functions, such as pitching, sweeping, collision, and foul handling, that are required in real curling game by using technologies, such as touch screen or accelerometer sensor.

There is growing interest in Vision-based video image matching owing to the constantly developing technology of unmanned-based systems. The purpose of this paper is the development of a fast and effective matching technique for the UAV oblique video image. We first extracted initial matching points using NCC (Normalized Cross-Correlation) algorithm and improved the computational efficiency of NCC algorithm using integral image. Furthermore, we developed a triangulation-based outlier removal algorithm to extract more robust matching points among the initial matching points. In order to evaluate the performance of the propose method, our method was quantitatively compared with existing image matching approaches. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method can process 2.57 frames per second for video image matching and is up to 4 times faster than existing methods. The proposed method therefore has a good potential for the various video-based applications that requires image matching as a pre-processing.

This paper addresses the issues and difficulties encountered in developing a 12-axis measurement system for the assessment of whole-body vibration exposed from the body contact area. The contents of related survey work and the ideas from Professor Griffin in ISVR, that have led to its successful development, are introduced here. The developed 12-axis measurement system is shown to satisfy the international standards of ISO 2631 and BS 6841 in EC. This system is expected to play a key role in assessing the ride quality of passenger cars that is rapidly becomes much interest in Korean car-makers and tyre-makers.
