  • Embedded System is one of important factor of ubiquitous computing, and it has various application areas. In this paper, we develop an educational contents for the education of young children using portable embedded machine; it shows embedded system can be applied to education area as well as to industry area. The system is similar to portable game machine, and it is easy to use everywhere. It also can download new contents from host computer or internet. The developed contents forms game and multimedia to derive children's interest.

Managerial Centrality and Shared Growth: Evidence from Korean Service Corporations' Financial Records

  • This paper focused on the level of managerial centralization on chief executive officer (CEO) as a factor to affect the shared growth activities of corporate. As service corporations are becoming active in shared growth activities recently, this paper thus used CEO. Pay Slice (CPS) information to measure the level of managerial centralization on CEO of service corporation and tested the influence of the level of managerial centralization on whether shared growth activities are executed and the level of such activities respectively. The result of test shows that companies with high managerial centralization on CEO are more passive toward shared growth activities than those without such centralization. This can be interpreted that a CEO with more powerful influence may consider shared growth activities as to be negative and take a passive attitude to them. On the other hand, such result was supported by additional analysis with companies committing shared growth activities as well. This paper is expected to contribute to bring about interest on shared growth activities as the gap between major companies and small and medium sized companies is currently expanding in terms of operating profit ratio and even salary of employees.

  • Stock price multiple is one of the most well-known equity valuation technique used to forecast equity price. It measures by multiplying "the ratio of stock price to a value driver" by a value driver. The value driver can be earning per share (EPS), sales or other financial measurements. The objective of price multiple technique is to evaluate the value of assets and compare how similar assets are priced in the market. Although stock price multiple technique is common in financial filed, studies on the application of the technique in Thailand is still limited. The present study is conducted to serve three major objectives. The first objective is to apply the technique to measure value of firms in banking sector in the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The second objective is to develop composite price multiple index to forecast equity prices. The third objective is to compare valuation accuracy of different value drivers of price multiple (i.e. EPS, Earnings Growth, Earnings Before Interest Taxes Depreciation and Amortization, Sales, Book Value and Composite Index) in forecasting equity prices. Results indicated that EPS is the most accurate value drivers of price multiple used to forecast equity price of firms in baking sector.

  • As the world's industrial development quickens, the highways and regional expressways have been expanding to serve the logistics and transportation needs of people. The burgeoning road construction has led to a growing interest in roadside installations. These must have reliable performance over long periods, reduced maintenance and high durability. Steel roadside barriers are prone to corrosion and other compromises to their functionality. Therefore, using high anti-corrosion steel material is now seen as a viable solution to this problem. Thus, the objective of this paper is to expand the scope of applications for high anti-corrosion steel material for roadside barriers. This paper assesses the impact safety such as structural performance, occupant protection performance and post-impact vehicular response performance by a simulation review on roadside barriers built with high strength anti-corrosion steel materials named as hot-dip zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy-coated steel. The simulation test results for the roadside barriers built with high strength anti-corrosion steels with reduced sectional thickness meet the safety evaluation criteria, hence the proposed roadside barrier made by high strength and high anti-corrosion hot-dip zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy-coated steel will be a good solution to serve safe impact performance as well as save maintenance cost.

  • As the public interest in environmental issues increased, the "Act On The Integrated Control Of Pollutant-Discharging Facility" was enacted. Through the integrated environmental pollution prevention act in which 19 industries with large environmental impacts are sequentially applied, pollutants can be managed in a medium-integrated manner and integrated permission of the business unit is possible and BAT can be applied to enable a scientific and proactive environmental management system. This study analyzed the overview of BAT reference documents(BREF), BAT setting procedure and method, and then suggested the development direction BAT and BAT-AEL monitoring method of a Electricity and Steam production facility.

  • As digital preservation becomes increasingly important, interest in web archiving has correspondingly increased. The processes of web archiving depend on the types of acquisition methods employed, the organization and storage of data, their completeness, and their scope. This study develops metadata for intensive web archiving. Several web archiving projects are reviewed and analyzed. As a result, administrative metadata has been suggested in addition to the basic elements from the Dublin Core.

  • One of the most significant feature of diagnostic ultrasonic instrument is to display information on the soft tissues in the body in real time. In this paper we carried out basic study on the digital moving image processing for tracing the movement of heart valves in echocardiograms. Digital moving image file was made from analog echocardiograms and it was remade as 256 gray-level images on each frame. The ROI(Region of interest) was placed on a heart valve region to process images efficiently. Images were processed by the use of image enhancement filters and morphology filters. The result shows that the processed images were more enhanced than original images. When a moving image is reconstructed by using these enhanced images, we can trace the movement of heart valves more easily. In this study we proposed the availability of the moving image reconstruction using enhancement images.

  • Small electric motors in an automobile perform various tasks such as engine cooling, pumping, and in heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. At present, most of dc motors are supplied by 12V or 24V batteries. However, DC motors surfer from lack of efficiency, low life cycles and unreliability. Therefore, there is a growing interest in substituting DC motors for advanced AC motors including switched reluctance motors. Although there are several other forms SRM converters, they are either unsatisfactory to the control performance or unsuitable for the 12V-battery powered 3-phase SRM drives. Taking into account the requirement for effective operation and simplicity structure of converter in the limited internal environment of automobiles, the author inclines toward selecting the modified C-dump converter as well as the energy efficient C-dump converter. This is so that more economical and efficient converter topology in automobile industries can be utilized. This paper describes the foundation for the design and development of a 12V-250W-3000rpm SRM drives for automobiles. Furthermore, complete circuit, computer simulation and experiment results are presented to verify the performance of the C-dump converters.

  • This paper implements a visualization tool and a zoom browser for visualizing the search results on the WWW. The visualization tool allows the user to find interested information through a display window as scattering the icons. The zoom browser uses a Focus+context technique to visualize large documents with many pages. It offers an overview of a document, and gives users instant access to any part of interest.   • In this work, we review the routing models that use game theoretical methodologies. A very common assumption in the analysis and development of networking algorithms is the full cooperation of the participating nodes. Most of the analytical tools are based on this assumption. However, the reality may differ considerably. The existence of multiple domains belonging to different authorities or even the selfishness of the nodes themselves could result in a performance that significantly deviates from the expected one. Even though it is known to be extensively used in the fields of economics and biology, game theory has attracted the interest of researchers in the field of communication networking as well. Nowadays, game theory is used for the analysis and modeling of protocols in several layers, routing included. This review aims at providing an elucidation of the terminology and principles behind game theory and the most popular and recent routing models. The examined networks are both the traditional networks where latency is of paramount importance and the emerging ad hoc and sensor networks, where energy is the main concern.
