  • The ASEAN and ROK have played a crucial role in fostering regional peace and economic development. Nevertheless, the recent strategic competition between the US and China has turned the region into a contested arena. The relationship faces challenges due to the ROK's growing alignment with the US, prompting a rising interest in minilateralism as an alternative collaboration model. This paper scrutinizes the impact of ROK's foreign policy behavior, with a focus on minilateralism as a preferred cooperation model with ASEAN. The study centers on BIMP-EAGA, investigating its effectiveness in sustaining collaboration amid geopolitical rivalry. The paper concludes that BIMP-EAGA, as a manifestation of minilateralism, serves as an alternative platform for ROK and ASEAN cooperation. However, the study reveals that the implementation of BIMP-EAGA falls short of expectations. This paper emphasizes the need for greater subregional focus and comprehensive coverage of BIMP-EAGA to truly reflect the shared interests of ASEAN member states.

  • Recently, despite the active interest and research on biochar, there is a lack of research on the acceptance intention of farmers, who are technology adopters. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to conduct a survey of 168 farmers and structurally analyze the factors affecting farmers' intention to accept biochar. The analysis results are as follows. First, promotion conditions and network effects have a positive influence on farmers' intention to accept biochar. Second, the mediating variable, network effect, has a complete mediating effect between performance expectations, social influence, and acceptance intention. This suggests that organizations need to be utilized to spread biochar because network effects increase the explanatory power of acceptance intention.

  • With the start of COVID-19 in 2020, the MBTI test became popular among Korean young generation and then developed into a nationwide hot topic. This paper aims to investigate the characteristics of the MBTI popularity in Korea and the public opinions toward this phenomenon. With the analysis of the reports contents, 231 news reports related to MBTI were selected from KINDS (Korea Integrated News Database System) as research samples. The general attitude of the media towards MBTI tests and the reasons for the formation of positive and negative evaluations will be discussed from three perspectives: media attention, media attitudes and cognitive sources. The research finds that the increasing interest in MBTI among the younger generation in Korea is driven by a post-epidemic desire for self-exploration, emotional planning, and online group affiliation. MBTI has gained quasi-scientific status, similar to horoscopes, influenced by celebrities and a substantial fan base in online communication. While widely used for entertainment and social currency, there are concerns that extensive labeling may unconsciously impact individuals' self-perception and hinder the development of a holistic and objective cognitive framework.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have made it possible to solve numerous challenges but require faster hardware development. However, the size of the classical computer has reached its physical limit, and researchers' interest in quantum computers is growing, and it is being used in various engineering fields. However, research using quantum computing in structural engineering is very insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, the characteristics of qubits, the minimum unit of quantum information processing, were grafted with the crow search algorithm to propose QCSA (quantum crow search algorithm) and compare the convergence performance according to parameter changes. In addition, by performing the optimal design of the example truss structure, it was confirmed that quantum computing can be used in the architectural field.

  • In response to the global interest and efforts towards reducing plastic use and promoting resource recycling, there is a growing need to establish methods for recycling discarded fishing gear. In Korea, various technologies are being developed to recycle discarded fishing gear, but significant technical and policy challenges still remain. In particular, biodegradable gill nets require a pre-treatment process to separate biodegradable materials from other substances and to remove salt before recycling. Therefore, this study aims to develop a pre-treatment device for recycling biodegradable gill nets and to evaluate the feasibility of recycling them.

  • The Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB e+e- collider in Japan is designed for precise measurements of weak interaction parameters and new physics beyond the Standard Model; therefore, it requires very high instantaneous luminosity. To handle such high luminosity, the level-1 trigger system in the Belle II experiment is designed to efficiently trigger events of interest with the highest efficiency. Among many sub-detectors, track reconstruction of charged particles is performed using information collected from the central drift chamber. Therefore, the central drift chamber-based trigger plays a central role in distinguishing specific types of physics based on fast track reconstruction. To improve the longitudinal position resolution of a track vertex and for the fine-tuning of trigger signal timing, the time of the collision, which we call event time, is necessary. We developed an event time finding algorithm using the wire hit time information obtained from the central drift chamber and validated our algorithm through Monte Carlo simulation.

  • Public-private partnership (PPP) projects are characterized by the bundling of construction and operation phases and risk sharing, which motivate private sponsors to enhance project efficiency throughout its life-cycle. However, internal conflicts of interest among sponsors can potentially distort these incentives. Building on agency theory, this study presents a game model to examine the effect of internal conflicts among private sponsors on bundling and risk sharing. The results show that the degree of the bundling and risk transfer from the government to private sponsors depend on the sponsors' shareholding and capabilities. This study contributes to the PPP knowledge body by introducing the internal conflicts among sponsors into the incentive mechanism of risk-sharing between the government and private sponsors. The findings also provide support for the government to formulate risk-sharing strategies and shed light on the sponsor selection of PPP projects.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate various types of 'flow' that can be observed in the daily lives of science-gifted students, and the correlation between 'flow' and creativity. For two months, we have gathered data on 'flow' in the main activities of science-gifted students through a qualitative application of the Experience Sampling Method (ESM). We then use correlation analysis to determine whether there have been correlations between 'flow' and creativity. Among the four channels, activities involving 'flow' have been the most common (40.4%) in the daily lives of the students. The types of tasks done by the students are, in descending order of frequency, productive activities, social activities, leisure activities, and basic activities. The students have shown the least interest in tasks that do not require specific skills or pose significant challenges; thus the least interest show in basic activities and the most interest has been shown in productive activities. 'Flow' and creativity are significantly correlated at the level of 0.01, which means that the more the students experience 'flow,' the more they express creativity. Based on the results above, we have found that there is a need for the development of science programs or environments, including productivity while at the same time, to reduce uneasiness and patience raising activities, where students can experience more 'flow' in daily life.
