  • The spin-orbit interaction has received great attention in the field of spintronics, because of its property and applicability. For instance, the spin-orbit interaction induces spin precession which is the key element of spin transistor proposed by Datta and Das, since frequency of precession can be controlled by electric field. The spin-orbit interaction is classified according to its origin, Dresselhaus and Rashba spin-orbit interaction. In particular, the Rashba spin-orbit interaction is induced by inversion asymmetry of quantum well structure and the slope of conduction band represents the strength of Rashba spin-orbit interaction. The strength of spin-orbit interaction is experimentally obtained from the Shubnikov de Hass (SdH) oscillation. The SdH oscillation is resistance change of channel for perpendicular magnetic field as a result of Zeeman spin splitting of Landau level, quantization of cyclotron motion by applied magnetic field. The frequency of oscillation is different for spin up and down due to the Rashba spin-orbit interaction. Consequently, the SdH oscillation shows the beat patterns. In many research studies, the spin-orbit interaction was treated as a tool for electrical manipulation of spin. On the other hands, it can be considered that the Rashba field, effective magnetic field induced by Rashba effect, may interact with external magnetic field. In order to investigate this issue, we utilized InAs quantum well layer, sandwiched by InGaAs/InAlAs as cladding layer. Then, the SdH oscillation was observed with tilted magnetic field in y-z plane. The y-component (longitudinal term) of applied magnetic field will interact with the Rashba field and the z-component (perpendicular term) will induce the Zeeman effect. As a result, the strength of spin-orbit interaction was increased (decreased), when applied magnetic field is parallel (anti-parallel) to the Rashba field. We found a possibility to control the spin precession with magnetic field.

  • This study is attempts to clarify the effect of infant massage for the promotion of primipara's mother-infant interaction Method: The term for collecting data for experimental group ranged from April 25, 2001 to June 5, 2001. The infants for this group were sampled among normal mother-infant from one postpartum care center located in J city. The term for collecting data for control group ranged from June 10, 2001 to August 3, 2001. The infants for this group were sampled among normal mothers infant from 1 general hospital, 1 university hospital and 1 postpartum care center located in J city. The experiment was implemented giving primipara education about massage based on protocol for infant massage provided by Johnson & Johnson Korea and they received 10 days of education, 10 minutes a day (from 10 to 11 a.m) In the post test, we videotaped both the control group and the experimental group visiting their homes 4 weeks after delivery to observe mother-infant play interaction. Data analysis was done using SAS and the homogeneity between general properties owned by both control group and experimental group and mother's perception scale for children was verified through -test. Mother-infant play interaction with both control group and experimental group was analyzed through t-test in the experiment. And analysis of mother-infant interaction points based on general properties was made using ANOVA and t-test. Result: Hypothesis that mother-infant play interaction with primipara who gave her infant a massage will be more active than that of the primipara who didn't was verified (t= -4.27, p=.0001). And the points in each item, points in each item were estimated as follows. Mother behavioral items (t=-4.96, p=.0001), infant behavioral item (t=-0.36, p=.71), mother-infant interaction reciprocity (t=-2.64, p=.01). Conclusion: An infant massage program can contribute to promoting the Mother-Infant Play Interaction positively.

  • Nucleophilic substitution reactions of (Z)-phenylethyl (X)-benzenesulfonates with (Y)-pyridines were investigated in acetonitrile at 60 ℃ under respective pressures. The magnitudes of the Hammett reaction constants, ρX, ρY and ρZ indicate that a stronger nucleophile leads to a greater degree of bond formation of C-N and a better leaving group is accompanied by a less degree of bond breaking. The magnitude of correlation interaction term, ρij can be used to determine the structure of the transition state (TS) for the SN reaction. As the pressure is increased, the Hammett reaction constants, ρX and |ρY|, are decreased, but correlation interaction coefficient, ρXZ and |ρYZ|, are increased. The results indicate that the reaction of (Z)-phenylethyl (X)-benzenesulfonates with (Y)-pyridines probably moves from a dissociative SN2 to early-type concerted SN2 mechanism by increasing pressure. This result shows that the correlation interaction term ρij can be useful tool to determine the structure of TS, and also the sign of the product ρXZ·ρYZ can be predict the movement of the TS.

  • This paper focuses on how cognitive and emotional structures affect humans during long-term interaction. We design an interaction with a turn-based game, the Chopstick Game, in which two agents play with numbers using their fingers. While a human and a robot agent alternate turn, the human user applies herself to play the game and to learn new winning skills from the robot agent. Conventional valence and arousal space is applied to design emotional interaction. For the robotic system, we implement finger gesture recognition and emotional behaviors that are designed for three-dimensional virtual robot. In the experimental tests, the properness of the proposed schemes is verified and the effect of the emotional interaction is discussed.

  • The theoretical framework of the interaction fields for multiple scales based on field theory is applied to one-dimensional problem mimicking dislocation substructure sensitive intra-granular inhomogeneity evolution under fatigue of Cu-added steels. Three distinct scale levels corresponding respectively to the orders of (A)dislocation substructures, (B)grain size and (C)grain aggregates are set-up based on FE-RKPM (reproducing kernel particle method) based interpolated strain distribution to obtain the incompatibility term in the interaction field. Comparisons between analytical conditions with and without the interaction, and that among different cell size in the scale A are simulated. The effect of interaction field on the B-scale field evolution is extensively examined. Finer and larger fluctuation is demonstrated to be obtained by taking account of the field interactions. Finer cell size exhibits larger field fluctuation whereas the coarse cell size yields negligible interaction effects.

  • We propose a method where interaction energies and force components are calculated separately for each residue of biomolecules. It is found that the correlation factors obtained from the analysis of five types of force terms and one interaction energy term (main chain self-energy) can be used to predict a mutants free energy difference relative to wild type.(omitted)

  • The purpose of this paper is to deeply understand the developing of long-term relationship between salesperson and customer through analyzing of various literature. Salespersons are important due to their forefront position in retailing setting. They are called \"relationship manger\" due to their function of controlling service quality. Therefore understanding the salesperson-customer relationship is critical in retail environment. To accomplish the purpose of this paper, at first, the concept of relationship marketing and the domain of relationship marketing is examined. Then long-term relationship is studied through existing study on buyer-seller relationship. Anticipation of future interaction or long-term relationship orientation is generated from antecedent variables through mediating variables. Though previous studies ignored developing status of long-term relationship, developing status must be captured to thoroughly understand interpersonal relationship. Implication for relationship marketing theory and research are discussed related to clothing retail setting.l setting.

  • For applications such as video surveillance and human computer interface, we propose an efficiently integrated method to detect and track faces. Various visual cues are combined to the algorithm: motion, skin color, global appearance and facial pattern detection. The ICA (Independent Component Analysis)-SVM (Support Vector Machine based pattern detection is performed on the candidate region extracted by motion, color and global appearance information. Simultaneous execution of detection and short-term tracking also increases the rate and accuracy of detection. Experimental results show that our detection rate is 91% with very few false alarms running at about 4 frames per second for 640 by 480 pixel images on a Pentium IV 1㎓.
