A new Modem technique - 8-state Superposed QAM(8SQAM) - for use in power and bandwidth limited digital communication system is proposed. The premodulation baseband signal of the 8SQAM system is a double-interval(2Ts) raised cosine pulse superposed with weighted single-interval(Ts) raised cosine pulse. The performance of the 8SQAM, in a nonlinearly amplified multi-channel environment with additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN), inter-symbol interference(ISI), inter-modulation(IM) and adjacent channel interference(ACI), is analyzed via computer simulation. The simulation result shows that the 8SQAM outperforms 8PSK by about 1.6㏈ at BER=$1\times10^{-4}$ when HPA IBO is 1㏈ and channel Spacing, ${\Delta}F$ is 0.417fb.

In this paper, we propose UCA algorithms that are applied to the unified inter-cell interference mitigation through frequency plannings in OFDMA cellular systems. Under three frequency plannings, UCA algorithms allocate frequency channels to UEs(User Equipments). Proposed UCA algorithms require the information of received signal power from home sector and neighbor sectors respectively. We compare all possible combinations of UCA algorithms and frequency plannings through compute simulation. A primary performance measure is the low 5th percentile of SINR at UEs. The proposed UCA algorithms can avoid the interference to neighbor cells by allocating relatively low transmit power to centrally-located UEs and cancel inter-cell interference at cell-edge UEs by a coordinated symbol repetition. We show that UCA algorithm 2 applied in frequency planning 1 is promising among other combinations of UCA algorithms and frequency palnnings in terms of the low 5th percentile of SINR at UEs.

An OFDM system may be a good candidate for a next-generation wireless communication system which requires high-speed and high-rate data transmission. In OFDM systems, guard intervals are inserted to mitigate the effects of ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference). But guard interval insertion degrades the system performance from the standpoint of data rate and bandwidth efficiency. In this paper, a new method to improve the performance of an OFDM system without guard interval. First, PIC (Parallel Interference Cancellation) scheme which can reduce ISI by subtracting the estimated multi-path components from the received signal will be considered. And the proposed system with Pseudo-Decorrelator estimates transmitted signals by using the inverse matrix of cross-correlation matrix relating to interference components. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated through computer simulations and compared with that of the PIC system and an OFDM system without guard interval.
In this paper, we propose a frame structure for modified ATSC transmission systems which is used for a terrestrial 3D HDTV broadcasting. The modified ATSC transmission systems [2] see the potential of increasing a transmission capacity at reasonable TOV (Threshold of Visibility) by modifying channel codes of conventional ATSC systems and varying modulations. We use PN symbols (Pseudorandom Noise) in a guard interval which is used for avoiding the ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) to estimate and compensate the time-varying multi path channel effectively with a maximum transmission payload. With PN symbols in the guard interval, a CIR (Channel Impulse Response) in a time domain can be estimated and a compensation in a frequency domain can be achieved for the accurate channel estimation and compensation. The prosed frame structure is applied to the modified ATSC systems and computer simulations are performed for SER (Symbol Error Rate) performances in TU (Typical Urban)-6 Channel.

Super-resolution near-field structure (super-RENS) read-out samples are affected by a nonlinear and noncausal channel, which results in inter-symbol interference (ISI). In this study, we investigate asymmetry or domain bloom in super-RENS in terms of equalization. Domain bloom is caused by writing process in optical recording. We assume in this work that the asymmetry symbol conversion scheme is to generate asymmetric symbols, and then a linear finite impulse response filter can model the read-out channel. For equalizing this overall nonlinear channel, the read-out signals are deconvolved with the finite impulse response filter and its output is decided based on the decision rule table that is developed from the asymmetry symbol conversion scheme. The proposed equalizer is investigated with the simulations and the real super-RENS samples in terms of raw bit error rate.

In this paper, the concerned existing blind equalizer convergence rate and residual inter-symbol interference using constellation reduced and cost function by separation the real part and an imaginary part, the dual structure CR-CMA(constellation Reduction CMA). The CMA methed compensates amplitude but does no compensate phase, On the other hand, The CMA method compensates both the amplitude and the phase but it has the convergence rate problem, and the MCMA method is a way to solve the phase problem of CMA method compensates both the amplitude and the phase after respectively calculating the real part and imaginary part components. Proposal a new method that the dual structure of CR-CMA, the cost function and error function and respectively calculating the real part and imaginary part components can advantages by improving the CMA and the MCMA algorithms so that the amplitude and phase retrieval and constellation reduce the residual ISI and faster convergence rate and performance is good SER (Symbol Error Ratio) was confirmed by computer simulations.
The underwater acoustic communication (UAC) is characterized by doubly spread channel. It is included in the time-variant doppler shift and delay-time spreads due to multiple paths. To compensate such distorted signals, various techniques including time-reversal processing, spatial diversity, phase estimator, and equalizer are being applied. In this paper, a spatial filter based on the beamforming is proposed as a method to mitigate such inter-symbol interferences that are generated in time-varying multipath channels. The proposed technique realizes coherent communications by steering the direction of the desired signals and improves the performance of UAC by increasing the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio using the array gain.

Base Station Cooperation (BSC) has been a promising technique for combating the Inter-Cell Interference (ICI) by exchanging information through a high-speed optical fiber back-haul to increase the diversity gain. In this paper, we propose a novel pilot symbol assisted data fusion scheme for distributed Uplink BSC (UBSC) based on Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed scheme exploits the pre-defined pilot symbols as the sample of transmitted symbols to constitute a sub-optimal Weight Calculation (WC) model. To circumvent the non-linear programming problem of the proposed sub-optimal model, DE algorithm is employed for searching the proper fusion weights. Compared with the existing equal weights based soft combining scheme, the proposed scheme can adaptively adjust the fusion weights according to the accuracy of cooperative information, which remains the relatively low computational complexity and back-haul traffic. Performance analysis and simulation results show that, the proposed scheme can significantly improve the system performance with the pilot settings of the existing standards.

본 논문에서는 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)시스템에서 OFDM 심벌 타이밍 옵셋에 따른 4096QAM 의 uncoded-BER(Bit Error Rate) 및 성상도를 측정하였다. uncoded-BER 은 수신기의 FEC(Forward Error Correction) 복호기 이전에서 측정된 BER 을 의미한다. 측정을 위해, OFDM 을 사용하는 DVB-C2(Digital Video Broadcasting for Cable Systems 2) 송수신기를 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)를 이용하여 구현하였으며, OFDM 심벌의 CP(Cyclic Prefix)를 이용하여 OFDM 심벌 동기를 수행하였다. 일반적으로, OFDM 심벌 동기는 OFDM 심벌에서 CP 가 반복된다는 특성을 이용한 상관기를 사용한다. 또한, ISI(Inter Symbol Interference) 및 ICI(Inter Channel Interference)를 최소화하기 위해, 채널의 최대 지연시간을 고려하여 CP 내에서 OFDM 심벌 동기가 획득된다.

The inter-symbol interference(ISI) is one of the main obstacles to reliable high-rate data communication in the shallow underwater acoustic channel. This paper studies on the simulation of adaptive equalizer used as a means of mitigating the ISI in the shallow underwater acoustic communication system. The underwater channel is modeled as a superposition of multiple paths, whose lengths and relative delays are calculated from the channel geometry. Based on this channel model, computer simulations are carried out to investigate the performance of adaptive equalizer in the shallow underwater acoustic channel.
