  • Traditionally, in multi-user multi-carrier systems, the neighboring subband will be gapped by one subcarrier, which is set as guard band to reduce multiple access interference (MAI) between neighboring subbands. The empty subcarrier for guard band will degrade the spectral efficiency of the whole system. In order to enhance the spectral efficiency of multi-user filter bank multiple carrier (FBMC) systems, a new subband allocation method is introduced, in which the neighboring subband is gapped by half subcarrier instead of one subcarrier. Meanwhile, in order to implement the proposed resource allocation scheme, an optimized FBMC prototype filter is designed to decrease the inter-subband interference to the neighboring subband. The detailed simulations about the comparison between the proposed spectrum assignment and traditional FBMC are given, as well as the performance in the different interference scenarios. The simulation results show that the combination of the proposed spectrum assignment scheme and the optimized filter has better performance compared to the traditional scheme. The proposed scheme can be used in the system which serves massive users to get higher spectrum efficiency.

  • InfiniBand technology is being accepted as the future system interconnect to serve as the high-end enterprise fabric for cluster computing. This paper presents the design and implementation of the InfiniBand system interconnect, focusing on an InfiniBand host channel adapter (HCA) based on dual ARM9 processor cores The HCA is an SoC tailed KinCA which connects a host node onto the InfiniBand network both in hardware and in software. Since the ARM9 processor core does not provide necessary features for multiprocessor configuration, novel inter-processor communication and interrupt mechanisms between the two processors were designed and embedded within the KinCA chip. Kinch was fabricated as a 564-pin enhanced BGA (Bail Grid Array) device using 0.18${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology Mounted on host nodes, it provides 10 Gbps outbound and inbound channels for transmit and receive, respectively, resulting in a high-performance cluster system.

  • GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) is the first dedicated gravity mapping mission. Its primary measurements are the distance changes between two co-orbiting low earth satellites. GRACE is a joint development by NASA and German DLR and was launched in March 2002. GRACE improves the Earth gravity model accuracy by nearly two factor of magnitude over pre-launch models. After brief description of the GRACE primary instrument, inter-satellite ranging system, its flight status and preliminary performance evaluation is presented. Ranging system error models, which were not included in the pre-launch performance model and design specifications, are identified through analyzing the flight data. Base on this analysis, future research topics on the GRACE instrument performance analysis are discussed.

  • In this paper, we consider the femto users and their mutual interference as graph elements, nodes and weighted edges, respectively. The total bandwidth is divided into a number of resource blocks (RBs) and these are assigned to the femto user equipment (FUEs) using a graph coloring algorithm. In addition, resources blocks are assigned to the femto users to avoid inter-cell interference. The proposed scheme is compared with the traditional scheduling schemes in terms of throughput and fairness and performance improvement is achieved by exploiting the graph coloring scheme.

  • Graphene shows diverse novel physical properties arising from its peculiar electronic states, so called Dirac electrons. Especially, effect of magnetic field is very unique, exhibiting exotic Landau level (LL) splitting. LLs are substantially modified by spins of Dirac electrons and pseudo-spins. The degeneracy of LLs is lifted to show splitting by electron-electron interaction and by the Zeeman effect. We investigated the magneto-optical absorption of graphene subjected to ultra-high magnetic field. Samples were prepared by the CVD method deposited on GaAs and Quart substrate. We have confirmed existence of graphene on each substrate by the micro-Raman spectroscopy. Next, we conducted magneto-absorption measurements in magnetic field up to 120 T by the single-turn coil (STC) method. We could observe absorption peak at 65 T and 100 T, respectively, probably arising from the LL inter-band transitions.

  • With the wide application of hyperspectral images, it becomes more and more important to compress hyperspectral images. Conventional recursive least squares (CRLS) algorithm has great potentiality in lossless compression for hyperspectral images. The prediction accuracy of CRLS is closely related to the correlations between the reference bands and the current band, and the similarity between pixels in prediction context. According to this characteristic, we present an improved CRLS with adaptive band selection and adaptive predictor selection (CRLS-ABS-APS). Firstly, a spectral vector correlation coefficient-based k-means clustering algorithm is employed to generate clustering map. Afterwards, an adaptive band selection strategy based on inter-spectral correlation coefficient is adopted to select the reference bands for each band. Then, an adaptive predictor selection strategy based on clustering map is adopted to select the optimal CRLS predictor for each pixel. In addition, a double snake scan mode is used to further improve the similarity of prediction context, and a recursive average estimation method is used to accelerate the local average calculation. Finally, the prediction residuals are entropy encoded by arithmetic encoder. Experiments on the Airborne Visible Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) 2006 data set show that the CRLS-ABS-APS achieves average bit rates of 3.28 bpp, 5.55 bpp and 2.39 bpp on the three subsets, respectively. The results indicate that the CRLS-ABS-APS effectively improves the compression effect with lower computation complexity, and outperforms to the current state-of-the-art methods.

  • In this paper, a transmitter-based multipath processing and inter-channel interference (ICI) cancellation scheme for a ultra-wideband (UWB) spatial multiplexing (SM) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system is presented. It consists of taps delayed lines and zero-forcing (ZF) filters in the transmitter and correlators in the receiver. For a UWB SM MIMO system with N transmit antennas, M receive antennas, and Q resolvable multipath components, the BER performance of a linear transmit ZF scheme is analyzed in a log-normal fading channel and also compared with that of a receiver-based ICI rejection approach. It is found that when M ${\leq}$ N, the transmit ZF processing approach outperforms the ZF receiver while making the mobile units low-cost and low-power.

  • $Pb_{x}Cd_{1-x}S$ films are prepared in the composition range of 0.05${\leq}x{\leq}$0.25, using a chemical bath deposition growth technique under optimum conditions amide at realizing good photo response. The x-ray diffraction results show that the films are of PbS-CdS composite with individual CdS and PbS planes. The films exhibit two direct band gaps, 2.4 eV attributed to CdS, while the other varies continuously from 2.4 eV to 1.3 eV. The films surface morphology is smooth with crystallite, whose grain size increases with increasing mole fraction (x). The decrease in band gap with increase in lead concentration suggests inter-metallic compound of PbS (Eg=0.41 eV) with CdS (Eg=2.4 eV)
