Optical current sensors are suitable for operation in high voltage and high current environments such as power plants due to they are not affected by electromagnetic interference and have excellent insulation characteristics. However, as they operate in a harsh environment such as large temperature fluctuation and mechanical vibration, high reliability of the sensor is required. Therefore, many groups have been working on enhancing the reliability. In this work, an integrated optical current sensor incorporating polarization-rotated reflection interferometer is proposed. By integrating various optical components on a single chip, the sensor exhibits enhanced stability as well as the solution for low-cost optical sensors. Using this, we performed the characterization for the actual field application. By using a large power source, the current of 0.3 kA~36 kA was applied to the photosensor and the linear operation characteristics were observed. The error of the sensor was within $0{\pm}.5%$. Even when operating for a long time, the error range of the sensor was kept within $0{\pm}.5%$. In addition, the measurement of the frequency response over the range of 60 Hz to 10 kHz has confirmed that the 3-dB frequency band of the proposed OCT is well over 10 kHz.
In the fabrication process of Fe-based amorphous alloy powder cores by pulverization of the melt-spun ribbons and cold compaction, the effects of powder preparation method on the magnetic & electric properties, powder shapes and microstructure of cores have been investigated. The powder cores made by using rotor mill showed low effective permeability as compared to the cores prepared by ball milling. However the frequency dependence and quality factor properties were superior in the case of rotor-milling. Further the powders prepared by rotor mill had homogeneous and round shapes through strong shearing in the sieve ring, while the ball milled powders were inhomogeneous and relatively small. The lower permeability of the powder cores fabricated with rotor mill was considered to be due to the high internal stress occurred by very intensive shearing. Moreover the powder cores produced by rotor-milling showed lower core loss and good frequency dependence of effective permeability possibly due to the higher electrical insulation between magnetic particles. The dc bias property of the powder cores made by rotor-milling was better than the one by ball-milling.

Cold-formed steel studs that are being used as load-bearing members of wall panels for steel houses have a problem with their insulation due to the heat bridging of their web. Some additional thermal insulating materials should be used. To solve this problem, the new-concept hybrid stud, which consists of a galvanized steel sheet (t = 1.0 m - 12.0 m) and a GFRP panel (t = 4.0-6.0 mm), has recently been developed. An investigation on the structural behavior and the strength capacity of this new hybrid stud has been conducted so that it can be used in load-bearing wall panels of residential buildings. This paper describes the axial compression-torsion test results of the hybrid studs under both axial compression and torsion using ATTM. The main factors of the test were the stud length, the magnitude of the initial compressive force, and the loading method of the monotonic or cyclic loading. The torsion was applied increasingly while the initial compression was kept constant to the failure of the hybrid section. The advanced analysis results obtained form the finite element procedure that considered the material properties of the high-strength galvanized steel and the GFRP were compared with the test results for verification.

In this study, the results of applying cold weather concreting mixed with Accelerator for Freeze Protection(AFP) to full scale structures are presented. Since the determination of W/C and amount of AFP significantly have an effect on strength gain and protection of frost damage in early, a full investigation is needed to determine these values at stage of nux design. The flowability of fresh cold weather concreting with AFP was similar to the same W/C. Lower loss of workability and initial slump flow of concrete using superplasticizer of polycarboxylic ester than that of melamine sulphonate showed that polycarboxylic ester was more effective on elapsed time. Temperature histories of specimens located in insulation boxes at the site was similar to that of structures. Thus, it is cleared that simple adiabatic curing method is effective for evaluating in-place concrete strength than specimens cured by sealing method. The investigation results of development of compressive strength of cold weather concreting included AFP with curing methods by logistic curves indicated that AFP can be effective to gain strength at lower temperature than normal curing temperature. In field testing, vinyl sheets were placed over the concrete sections and AFP enabled concrete to gain $5N/{mm}^2$ to protect frost damage in early ages and specified compressive strength of concrete at 28 days under average temperature of $-2^{\circ}C$ (lowest temperature was $-12^{\circ}C$) during site application.
Because the allowable current loading of buried electrical transmission cables is frequently limited by the maximum permissible temperature of the cable or of the surrounding ground, there is a need fur cable backfill materials that can maintain a low thermal resistivity even while subjected to high temperatures for prolonged periods. Temperatures greater than $50^{\circ}C\;to\;60^{\circ}C$ may lead to breakdown of cable insulation and thermal runaway if the surrounding backfill material is unable to dissipate the heat as rapidly as it is generated. This paper describes the results of studies aimed at the development of backfill material to reduce the thermal resistivity. A large number of different additive materials were tested to determine their applicability as a substitute material. Tests were carried out for Dongrim river sand, a relatively uniform sand of very high thermal resistivity, $50^{\circ}C-cm/watt\;at\;10\%$ water content, $260^{\circ}C-cnuwatt$ when dry, and Jinsan granite screenings, and D-2 (sand and granite screenings mixture), E-1 (rubble and granite screenings mixture), a well-graded materials with low thermal resistivity, about $35^{\circ}C-cm/watt$ when at 10 percent water content, $100^{\circ}C-cm/watt$ when dry. Based on this research, 3 types of backfill materials were suggested for improved materials with low thermal resistivity and the applicability was assessed through field tests.
With regard to the fact that temperature of human body remains almost constant at $37^{\circ}C$, changes by circadian variation, this study intended to investigate the effect of circadian rhythm on physiological responses of human body according to body fat rate. Fifteen healthy adult women were recruited for this study and were measured body fat as a method of bio impedance. We organized subjects into three groups ; low body fat group(group L-less than 20% of body fat), medium body fat group(group M-20%~30% of body fat) and high body fat group(group H-more than 30% of body fat). The experiment was carried out in a climate chamber of $32^{\circ}C$, 60% RH with the repeat of 'Exercise' and 'Rest' period. Subjects participated in two experiments, one is morning experiment(called 'AM'), the other is afternoon experiment (called 'PM'). The results of this study are as follows ; As to the variation of rectal temperature, group L and M had a significant difference in the time of the day between AM and PM, but group H had almost the same rectal temperature in the two kinds of experimental time. The reason why group H had a smaller difference in the circadian rhythm of rectal temperature in this study is estimated at the Budd et al.(1991)'s results that body fat had effects on reduction in thermogenesis, radiation, mean skin temperature, and increase in insulation of the tissues. Group M had the highest mean skin temperature in the 'PM'. All the 3 groups didn't have stable values in 'AM'. But it showed more stable in 'PM' than 'AM'. Sweat rate was the highest in group H in both 'AM' and 'PM'. Group M had larger sweat rate in 'PM' than 'AM'. but in group L and H, sweat rate was almost the same in two kinds of time of the day. This result suggests that who have more or less body fat have larger difference in sweat rate between morning and afternoon than who have normal body fat.
Polymer foams were used to fill the void in the structure in addition to flame retardant and heat insulation. Polymer foams such as polyurethane, polyisocyanurate, poly(vinyl chloride), polyethylene terephthalate were used to weight lighting materials. In this study, epoxy foam was used to improve mechanical properties of polymer foam. Acid anhydride type hardener reacts with polyol. Using this phenomenon, if blowing agent was added into epoxy resin using acid anhydride type hardener, formation and compressive properties of epoxy foam was studied. Formation of polymer foam was compared with type of blowing agent and concentration of blowing agent via compressive test. As these results, optimized condition of epoxy foam was found and epoxy foam had better compressive property than other polymer foam.

In the present study, graphene oxide based polyurethane foams were manufactured as a part of the development process of mechanically strengthened polyurethane foam insulation material. This material is used in a liquefied natural gas carrier cargo containment system. The temperature of the containment system is $-163^{\circ}C$. First, graphene oxide was synthesized using the Hummers' method, and it was supplemented into polyol-isocyanate reagent by considering a different amount of graphene oxide weight percent. Then, a bulk form of graphene-oxide-polyurethane foam was manufactured. In order to investigate the cell stability of the graphene-oxide-polyurethane foam, its microstructural morphology was observed, and the effect of graphene oxide on microstructure of the polyurethane foam was investigated. In addition, the compressive strength of graphene-oxide-polyurethane foam was measured at ambient and cryogenic temperatures. The cryogenic tests were conducted in a cryogenic chamber equipped with universal testing machine to investigate mechanical and failure characteristics of the graphene-oxide-polyurethane foam. The results revealed that the additions of graphene oxide enhanced the mechanical characteristics of polyurethane foam. However, cell stability and mechanical strength of graphene-oxide-polyurethane foam decreased as the weight percent of graphene oxide was increased.

The establishment of a green remodeling strategy is focused on technology, so the necessity of establishing a customized strategy considering the field situation has emerged. This paper examined the technology strategy through sensitivity analysis as a methodology for guiding strategy. For a 90-square-meter detached house, nine models of the construction standards of pre-1980s, 1984, and 2010 in Seoul, Daejeon, and Busan were assessed using the optimization method that combines the energy plus engine and the ModeFrontier. Sensitivity analysis was performed, and the remodeling strategy priority was derived. For pre-1980 models, the strategy for enhancing the roof insulation performance had a significant priority. The SHGC values of the windows were found to have the next highest priority regardless of the region and the time of completion, showing that the performance standard, including the SHGC, needs to be expanded. The possibility of remodeling while maintaining the existing geometry was confirmed because the adjustment of the window wall ratio accompanying large-scale demolition works has low priority. The priorities of technology strategies in each case showed very different patterns, suggesting the possibility of establishing a remodeling strategy by a comprehensive evaluation along with economics and constructability analysis.
The purpose of this study was to examine the thermal diffusion through bases and restorations. The three principle types of base and two restorative materials were included in this study. They were representive brands of a zinc phosphate cement, a zinc oxide-eugenol cement, a calcium hydroxide paste, an amalgam and a composite resin (table 1). The specimens were prepared by placing the bases or restorative materials in laminated plastic molds. 5-mm diameter holes were prepared in the center of square of plastics which were 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0mm thick respectively (fig. 1). All materials were manipulated in accordance with manufacturer's recommended proportions. All experimental procedures were carried out dividing them into eight different groups (table 2). Thermal diffusion was measured by means of digital thermometer (DP-100, RKC. instrument Inc. JAPAN) with the surface thermocouple placed on bottom surface of the specimen applying a constant source of heat and cold to the top surface of the each specimen. The thermal stimulus temperature applied on the each specimen surface was in the range of $60^{\circ}C$, $0^{\circ}C$ and $-50^{\circ}C$ respectively. The thermal change were recorded automatically on the multi-Pen recorder (R-16, Rikadenki, Co. JAPAN) connected with thermocouple tips which were centered on the bottom of the specimen. The following results were as follows, 1. Temperature diffusion was highest through amalgam and slowest through the composite resin. 2. As the thickness of restorations increased, the temperature change was decreased. 3. Thermal diffusion was slowest in the presence of zinc oxide-eugenol bases, followed by calcium hydroxide and zinc phosphate cement. 4. The efficiency of the cement bases in providing thermal insulation was dependent on their thickness beneath the restorations. 5. Thermal change was great in the range of $60^{\circ}C$ and $-50^{\circ}C$, but little in the range of $0^{\circ}C$.
