Internal insulators give rise to partial discharge(PD), which cause local breakdown and even entire insulation breakdown. Treeing due to PD is one of the main causes of breakdown of the insulating materials and reduction of the insulation life. Therefore the necessity for establishing a method to diagnose the aging of insulation materials and to predict the breakdown of insulation has become important. From this viewpoint, we have studied on Electric Field dependence of tree shape in Low Density Polyethylene about treeing phenomena occurring on the high electrical field. As the result, under the reasoning that the growing of tree supposing when the inner part of tree is either dielectrec or conductor has the intermediate characteristics between dielectrec and conductor, theoretically investicated results well according with the experimental results.

$SF_6$ gas used widely as insulating component in electric power industry has excellent in insulation and arc extinguishing performance in gas-insulated switchgear. However, the concern about eco-friendly alternative gas is currently rising, because $SF_6$ gas is one of the main greenhouse gases. As one of the study for $SF_6$ free technology, composite-insulation technology is focused in this paper. To analyze the influence by epoxy thickness change, the composite-insulation composed of dry-air and epoxy was used in this paper. To analyze AC breakdown by the epoxy thickness, needle-plane electrode was used and needle was molded by epoxy. Under the gas pressure ranged from 0.1 to 0.6MPa, the breakdown voltage of dry-air were measured in AC electric field. The data of composite-insulation were acquired by changing the thickness of epoxy used in each composite-insulation under the same condition.

SF6 widely used as insulating gas is rising as the environment problem. For decreasing this greenhouse gas, electrical breakdown characteristics of composite insulation composed of epoxy resins with N2, air are studied in non-uniform field. The gap of needle to plane was 3mm, 5mm. The pressure of air, nitrogen was varied within the range of 0.1~0.6MPa. The thickness of a needle is 1mm and the curvature radius of the end of needle is 100um. The diameter of a plane made of the stainless steel is 50mm. As a result of the experiment, the breakdown voltage is increased about 3 times when epoxy resins is composited. The thickness of epoxy resins filled opposite to electrode concentrated electric field weakly influences on breakdown voltage.

General transformer's life is known as paper insulation' life. If a transformer is degraded by these aging factors, it is known that electrical, mechanical and chemical characteristics for transformer's oil-paper are changed. When the kraft paper is aged, the cellulose polymer chains break down into shorter lengths. It causes decrease in both tensile strength and degree of polymerization of paper insulation. The paper breakdown is accompanied by an increase in the content of furanic compounds within the dielectric liquid. In this paper it is aimed at analysis on correlation between aging characteristics for insulating diagnosis of thermally aged paper. For investigating the accelerated aging process of oil-paper samples accelerating aging cell was manufactured for estimating variation of paper insulation during 500 hours at $140^{\circ}C$ temperature. To derive the results, it was performed analysis such as tensile strength(TS), depolymerization(DP), dielectric strength(DS), relative permittivity, water content(WC) and furan compound(FC) for aged paper. Also for analyzing correlation between insulating degradation characteristics, we used linear regression method. As as results of linear regression analysis, there was a close correlation between TS and DP. WC, FC. But dielectric strength was a weak correlation with aging time.

The processing technology of organic thin-film transistors (Ons) performances have improved fur the last decade. Gate insulator layer has generally used inorganic layer, such as silicon oxide which has properties of a low electrical conductivity and a high breakdown field. However, inorganic insulating layers, which are formed at high temperature, may affect other layers termed on a substrate through preceding processes. On the other hand, organic insulating layers, which are formed at low temperature, dose not affect pre-process. Known wet-processing methods for fabricating organic insulating layers include a spin coating, dipping and Langmuir-Blodgett film processes. In this paper, we propose the new dry-processing method of organic gate dielectric film in field-effect transistors. Vapor deposition polymerization (VDP) that is mainly used to the conducting polymers is introduced to form the gate dielectric. This method is appropriate to mass production in various end-user applications, for example, flat panel displays, because it has the advantages of shadow mask patterning and in-situ dry process with flexible low-cost large area displays. Also we fabricated four by four active pixels with all-organic thin-film transistors and phosphorescent organic light emitting devices.

Following the successful development of practical high temperature superconducting (HTS) wires, there has been renewed activity in the development of superconducting power equipments. HTS equipments must be operated in the coolant, such as liquid nitrogen (L$N_2$) or cooled by cooler, such as GM-cryocooler to maintain the temperature below critical temperature. In this paper, dielectric strength of some insulating materials, such as epoxy, teflon, and glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) in L$N_2$was measured. Surface breakdown voltage of GFRP which is basic property in design of HTS solenoid coil was measured. Epoxy is a goof insulating material but it is fragile at cryogenic temperature. The multi-layer insulating method of current lead is suggested to compensate this fragile property. It consists of teflon tape layer and epoxy layer fixed with texture. Based on these measurements, the 6.6㎸ class HTS magnet for DC reactor type high-T$_{c}$ superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) was successfully fabricated and tested.d.
The silicon-adsorbed oxygen(Si-O) superlattice grown by ultra high vacuum-chemical vapor deposition(UHV-CVD) was introduced as an epitaxial barrier for silicon quantum electron devices. The current-voltage (I-V) measurement results show the stable and good insulating behavior with high breakdown voltage. It is apparent that the Si-O superlattice can serve as an epitaxially grown insulating layer as possible replacement of silicon-on-insulator(SOI). This thick barrier may be useful as an epitaxial insulating gate for field effect transistors(FETs). The rationale is that it should be possible to fabricate a FET on top of another FET, moving one step closer to the ultimate goal of future silicon-based three-dimensional integrated circuit(3DIC).

When faults occur in the power equipment that is used a great deal in industrial sites, it may lead to fatal accidents that cause losses both economically and in manpower. In this paper, the effect of particle impact on the partial discharge of $SF_6$ gas was measured by simulating a partial discharge following the type of fault found in the GIS using $SF_6$ insulating gas as the insulating material. A spectrum analysis was performed on the radiate electromagnetic waves emitted upon partial discharge by using the UHF insulation diagnosis method. This subject of this study is insulation diagnosis by the measurement of radiate electromagnetic waves when particles exist in the GIS and power equipment insulated with $SF_6$ gas.
In this paper, an optical fiber sensor(OF sensor) utilizing the principal of Mach-Zehnder interferometer were proposed to detect the partial discharge signals in insulating oil. At first the AC breakdown signals were detected to check the response of the OF sensor. The detected signals from OF sensor was consistent with that from current probe. After the response checking, simultaneous measurements and continuous recording were made of electrical and the OF sensor signals from partial discharge(PD) produced by IEC(b) electrode system immersed in insulating oil. The continuous recording made it possible to extract basic quantities of PD from the OF sensor signals, such as pulse phase and pulse amplitude distribution. Through the signal analysis, the absolute peaks of the OF sensor PD signal was found to be increased with the amplitude of electrical signals, and these results mean that there is a strong correlation between OF sensor and electrical PD signals. It was demonstrated that the OF sensor in this research had a possibility to detect the PD signals in power apparatus.
In order to improve insulating character and ability of insulating system of power apparatus, the interfacial and complex structure is widely used. However, the interface or complex structure of insulation materials is reported as a weak point which causes breakdown. As the interface of insulation system degrades its electrical property and eventually causes a failure, the datailed phenomenon analysis is reported. The object of this paper is to evaluate dielectric property of PET film with the interface. The $tan{\delta}$ increased with the existence of semiconducting layer and showed prominent decrease as a function of temperature. Also, the $tan{\delta}$ showed prominent increase as a function of frequency. The dielectric properties of interfacial were affected by the interface characteristics.
