Solar Insolation Effect on the Local Distribution of Lunar Hydroxyl

  • Moon mineralogy mapper ($M^3$)'s work proved that the moon is not completely dry but has some hydroxyl/water. $M^{3{\prime}}s$ data confirmed that the amount of hydroxyl on the lunar surface is inversely related to the measured signal brightness, suggesting the lunar surface is sensitive to temperature by solar insolation. We tested the effect of solar insolation on the local distribution of hydroxyl by using $M^3$ data, and we found that most craters had more hydroxyl in shade areas than in sunlit areas. This means that the local distribution of hydroxyl is absolutely influenced by the amount of sunshine. We investigated the factors affecting differences in hydroxyl; we found that the higher the latitude, the larger the difference during daytime. We also measured the pyroxene content and found that pyroxene affects the amount of hydroxyl, but it does not affect the difference in hydroxyl between sunlit and shaded areas. Therefore, we confirmed that solar insolation plays a significant role in the local distribution of hydroxyl, regardless of surface composition.

2012년 기상관측 결과와 한국형 수평면전일사량 예측식(I) (Prediction Correlation of Solar Insolation using Relationships between Meteorological Data and Solar Insolation in 2012)

  • To well design the solar energy system, the correlation to calculate and predict solar irradiation is basically needed. So, this study was performed to reveal the relationships between the solar irradiation and four meteorological observation data(dry-bulb temperature, relative humidity, duration of sunshine, and amount of cloud) that didn't show from previous any other researches. And then, we finally proposed the various order non-linear correlation from the measured solar irradiation and four meteorological measurement data using MINITAB. To show the deviation and accuracy of the solar irradiation between measured and calculated, this study compared for the daily total solar insolation. From those results, the calculation error could well predicted about maximum 97% for the daily total solar insolation. But, the coefficients of the proposed correlations didn't show any relationships. So, needs more studies to make the proper one correlation for the country.

  • Surface solar radiation over the sea is estimated using Visible and Infrared Spin Scan Radiometer data onbord Geostationary Meteorological Satellite(GMS) 5 for January, 1997 to December 1997 in clear and cloudy conditions. The hourly insolation is estimated with a spatial resolution of 5$\times$ 5 km grid. The island pyranometer belonging to the Japan Meteorological Agency is used for validation of the estimated insolation. It is shown that the estimated hourly insolation has RMSE(root mean square) error of 104 W/$m^2$. The variability of the hourly solar radiation was investigated on 3 areas over seas around Korean Peninsula. The solar radiation of East Sea is similar to Yellow Sea. The maximum value of solar radiation is on June of year. The maximum value in south sea is on August because weather is poor by low pressure and front in June

  • This paper proposes a novel maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control algorithm considering insolation to improve efficiency of PV system. The proposed algorithm is composed perturb and observe(P&O) method and constant voltage(CV) method. P&O method is simple to realize and CV method is possible to tracking MPP with low insolation. Response characteristics of proposed algorithm is compared to conventional P&O method with insolation variation. This paper proves the validity of proposed algorithm through the analysis result.

  • As is well-known, the maximum power point (MPP) of PV power generation system depends on array temperature and solar insolation, it is necessary to track MPP of solar array all the time. Among various MPP control algorithms, the constant voltage control method, the perturbation and observation (P&O) method and the incremental conductance method (IncCond) have drawn many attractions due to the usefulness of each system. In this parer, the effectiveness of above mentioned three different control algorithms are thoroughly investigated via simulations and preposed efficiency evaluation method on experiment. Both the steady-state and transient characteristics of each control algorithms along with measured efficiency are analyzed, respectively. Finally, a novel MPPT control algorithm combining the constant voltage control and IncCond method for low insolation condition is proposed to improve efficiency of the 3KW PV power generation system.

  • The purpose of this study is to check whether the plate temperature could be lower than the surrounding air by using the radiant cooling during the day time in summer at Seoul. Without an insolation shield as this experiment was performed, a few cases were found. The temperatures of the black painted plate are lower than those of the aluminium film coated plate if the following condition exist; no or small insolation over the plate, the wind velocity less than around 2 m/s, and clear sky However if there are insolation over the plate, the temperatures of the aluminium coated plate are lower than the black painted plate. Also, as the wind velocity increases, the plate temperature decreases faster. The temperature response of the small system is much faster than the large system.

  • 일사량은 태양광 발전시스템의 전력 생산량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 기상요소이며, 다른 기상요소들과 달리 기상청의 일기예보를 통해 제공받을 수 없다. 따라서 효율적인 태양광 발전시스템 운용을 위해 일사량 예측에 관한 연구는 필수적이다. 본 연구는 기상정보 데이터 기반의 Dynamic Piecewise 일사량 예측 모델을 제안한다. Dynamic Piecewise 일사량 예측 모델은 유사한 태양고도와 유사한 날씨의 데이터 조각들로 나누어 학습하기 위해, 예측하는 시점의 태양고도와 운량을 기준으로 전체 데이터를 동적으로 나눈 후 기계학습 알고리즘인 다중 선형회귀 알고리즘으로 학습하여 일사량을 예측하는데 사용된다. 본 연구의 성능을 검증하기 위해 제안 모델인 Dynamic Piecewise 일사량 예측 모델과 이전 연구에서 제안한 모델, 기존의 상관관계식 기반 일사량 예측 모델에 동일한 기상정보 데이터 셋을 적용하여 비교하였으며, 비교결과 본 연구에서 제안한 모델이 가장 정확한 일사량 예측 성능을 보였다.

천리안 기상영상기 영상을 이용한 한반도 지역의 수평면 전일사량 추정 (Estimation of Global Horizontal Insolation over the Korean Peninsula Based on COMS MI Satellite Images)

  • 근래 들어 위성영상 기반의 한반도 지역 일사량 추정 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으나 대부분의 연구들은 외국 위성영상을 이용하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 정지궤도 위성영상을 활용하여 한반도 지역의 일사량을 추정하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 입력데이터로는 국내최초의 정지궤도 위성인 천리안 기상영상기의 레벨1 데이터 및 레벨2 구름 영상, 그리고 미국 NASA의 OMI 영상을 이용하고, 물리모델식은 동아시아지역 일사량 추정에 보다 적합하다고 알려진 Kawamura 모델식을 적용한다. 2011년 5월~2012년 4월에 이르는 기간의 15분 간격 데이터를 이용하여 일일 수평면 전일사량을 추정하였으며, 이를 대한민국의 18개지점의 관측소 실측치와 비교하였다. 일일 일사량 추정값과 관측값 간의 $R^2$값은 0.86로서 높은 상관성을 나타냈으며, 월평균 일사량의 오차는 대부분의 지점에서 ${\pm}15%$ 이내였고 연평균 수평면 전일사량의 오차는 서울을 제외하면 약 -5~+5%의 분포를 보였다. 본 연구결과를 통해 한반도 지역의 일사량을 추정하는데 있어 천리안 기상영상기 영상이 활용 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

태양(太陽)에너지의 직접흡수식(直接吸收式) 수열판상(受熱板上)의 유체유동특성(流體流動特性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on Characteristics of Fluid Flow on Direct Absorption Receiver from Solar Energy)

  • Direct Absorption Receiver and Thermal Storage System is a complex problem. This paper describes only characteristic of fluid flow on the receiver. The fluid thicknesses of Molten Salts (Melting Point : $397^{\circ}C$) flowing on the receiver of modified protopype ($10m{\times}10m$) were calculated theorectically, changing the receiver slope from 60 degree to 85 degree (5 steps). The receiver temperatures were $430^{\circ}C$ at the top part and $950^{\circ}C$ at the low part. The flow thickness of the Molten Salts at the top part of the receiver are around 1.9mm in the case of maximum insolution ($50{\times}10^6$juoule/sec; 58.898kg/sec of flow rate) and 2.0mm at the low part. In the case of 3/10 of maximum insolation (flow rate = 17.669kg/sec) the flow thickness at the top part are around 0.9mm and 0.4mm at the low part, and in the case of 1/10 of maximum insolation (flow rate = 5.889 kg/see) the flow thickness at the top part are around 0.6mm and 0.3mm at the low part. From experimental measurements of a normal fresh water thickness flowing on the model plate ($12.7cm{\times}111.76cm$), around 0.8mm at the top part of the plate and around 0.7mm at the low part were obtained in the case of maximum insolation (flow rate = 0.12496 kg/see). In the case of 3/10 (flow rate = 0.03748 kg/see) and 1/10 (flow rate = 0.012496 kg/see) of maximum insolation, around 0.5mm and 0.4mm at the top part, and around 0.3mm and 0.2mm at the low part were obtained respectively. The reason why the thickness of the Molten Salts increase at the low part of the receiver only in case of maximum insolation is that decreasing rate of the viscosity of the Molten Salts is larger than decreasing rate of the density of the Molten Salts during temperature increase from the top to the low receiver plate and decrease of the fluid velocity in accordance with continuity principle. In all cases without the above maximum insolation, the thickness of the Molten Salts and the fresh water decreased at the low part of the plate because of gravity force effects rather than friction effects and of continuity principle. All simillar flow patterns were obtained through all cases of the insolation making an exception of only maximum insolation.
