  • In this paper, the problem of electromagnetic transmission via slits in a cavity inside a conducting screen of finite thickness has been considered in the case that the transverse electric(to the slit axis) polarized plane wave is incident on a slit. The problem is solved numerically by the method of moments and the results are compared with those obtained from an equivalent circuit suitable for a case in which the slit width is infinite and the structure is modified to the two partially overlapped conducting planes. It is observed that when the cavity is resonated, the effective slit width reaches its maximum value of $1/\pi$ wavelengths, irrespective of the actual slit width and the incidence angle. When the thickness of the conducting plane is much smaller than the wavelength, the numerical results for the effective slit width(or transmission width) agree well with those obtained from the equivalent circuit, even though the slit is as narrow as the thickness of the conducting plane.

  • in order to elucidate the characteristic of velocity distribution of the cavity air. Exploratory tests were conducted on an unloaded rolling radial tire operated at various speeds and inflation pressure. A hot-wire anemometer, rotating with the tire, was used to measure the flow velocity inside the tire cavity. Tow different types of experiments were performed ; one for the effects of rolling speed with constant inflation pressure, the other for the various cavity pressures with constant rolling speed. Experimental results are given as plots of the mean velocity distributions versus the distance from the rim. It is observed that the magnitude of mean velocity in the cavity air shows increasing natures with the increasing of the inflation pressures and rolling speeds.

  • In the polymer shaping process that uses molds, the quality of the molded products is determined not only by the flow of the (molten) polymer but also by the air venting in the cavity. Inadequate air venting in the cavity can cause defects in the product, such as voids, short shot, or black streaks. As it is critical to consider the location and size of the vents for proper venting of the air in the cavity, a method that predicts the flow of air and material is required. The venting of air by the flow of rubber inside the cavity was simulated by using a multi-phase computational fluid dynamics method. Through computer simulation, the interface of rubber and air over time was predicted. Then, the velocity and pressure distribution of the venting air were observed. Our research proposes a fundamental method for analyzing the multi-phase flow of polymer materials and air inside the cavity of a mold.

  • This paper, presents the characteristics of electromagnetic fields radiated from a pole-transformer. The cylindrical cavity is used to measure electromagnetic fields radiated from a pole-transformer when partial discharge occures inside the pole-transformer. The theoretical analysis is conducted by a finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. As a result, frequency characteristics of the radiated electromagnetic waves emitted from the inside the cavity to the outside through the 1st and 2nd bushings could be observed for the configuration of the cylindrical cavity with a radiation window. The frequency characteristics of electromagnetic field are also studied according to the enclosure structure of the cylindrical cavity. To verify the theoretical analysis, computed results are compared to experimental results.

  • This study performs a numerical simulation of lid driven rectangular cavity flow with different aspect ratios of k = 0.5 to 4 under Reynolds 100, 1,000, 10,000 by using multi-relaxation time (MRT) Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). In order to achieve better convergence, well-posed boundary conditions in the domain should be defined such as no-slip condition on side and bottom solid wall surfaces and uniform horizontal velocity on the top of the cavity. This study focuses on the flow inside different shape of rectangular cavity with the aim to observe the effect of the Reynolds number and aspect ratio on the flow characteristics and primary/secondary vortex formation. In order to validate the study, the results have been compared with existing works. The result shows that the Reynolds number and the aspect ratio both has substantial effects on the flow inside the lid-driven rectangular cavity.

  • The technique used is the active structural acoutrol (ASAC)approach which involves controlling the acoustic response of a panel-cavity covpled system by applying oscillating force inputs in the form of prezoelectric actuators directly to the flexible panel. The linear quadratic Gaussian control scheme is used for attenuating nosie inside the rectangular enclosure causing by flexible wall vibration. Results indicated the application of control inputs to the radiating wall resukted in considerable noise reductions inside the cavity. Auso, the possibility of application to the more complicated fluid-structure coupled system is verified.

  • Soft X-ray is useful to identify the quality of fresh ginseng causing the inside cavity or white pan of red ginseng. The portion of low mass density identified by the difference in absorption of soft X-ray showed lower dry matter density and less or no response to iodine test indicating less accumulation or excess consumption of starch. The inside white part of red ginseng absorbed less X-ray than the normal part did. Probability for identification of the inside cavity or white at fresh ginseng was rather high (80-90%) in screen observation than f'3m reading and seemed to be increased further by using the developed screen and with training. The inside white of red ginseng appeared to be due to starch deficiency. Dry matter density appeared to be better than fresh weight density for the quality criterion.

  • In this paper, we report the experimental results for the flow pattern and the material transport around a cavity subject to a sinusoidal external flow at the far region to ward the open side of the cavity. A tilting mechanism is used to generate a oscillatory flow inside a shallow rectangular container having a cavity at one side. The surface flow visualization is performed to obtain the unsteady behavior of vortices generated at two edges situated at the entrance of the cavity. It was found that at the period 4.5 sec., the behavior of the vortices is asymmetric, and there exists a steady residual flow in the cavity. The bottom flow patterns are also visualized. There are two regions outside of the cavity where the bottom fluid particles concentrate. The material transport in this flow model is very peculiar; fluid particles in the cavity flows outward through the passage along the walls starting from the edges, and particles in the outer region approach the cavity from the central region.

  • This paper proposed the analysis method of the cavity resonance characteristics for a metallic enclosure with a PCB trace source. In order to calculation the electromagnetic fields inside the cavity, coupled integral equations for a current distribution on the PCB trace and an aperture electric field distribution on the boundary of the PCB dielectric are derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments. The result show that the resonant characteristics of the metallic enclosure are fairly good agreement with the simulation(HFSS) and the measured results. The resonant frequencies of the metallic enclosure with the PCB trace are changed by the PCB trace location inside of the cavity. In order to check the validity of the theoretical analysis, the calculated return losses are compared with the measured results.
