  • Recently, as Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and self-driving system become influential in the ground transportation system, automotive radar systems have been actively studied among the various radar systems to implement the vehicle collision detection system and distance measurement system between vehicles. Most of the automotive radars are Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar type which can calculate distance and velocity of target by estimating the frequency difference between the transmitted signal and received signal. Therefore, accurate frequency estimation is very important in the FMCW radar system. For this reason, to improve the measurement accuracy of the FMCW radar, Reverse Directional FRI (RD-FRI) Super-Resolution technique which has high frequency estimation accuracy is applied to the FMCW radar system. The feasibility of the proposed technique is evaluated with simulation results and compared with FFT and conventional Super-Resolution techniques. The simulation results show that the proposed technique estimates the frequency with high accuracy and the distance with centimeter accuracy.

  • Despite many theoretical and empirical studies, general causality between IPRs system, firm technological innovation and financial performance is not clear. This study notices that the core factor to create financial performance is different by each industry. The study analyzed the effect of IPRs system on innovation and economic growth targeting 3 industries; pharmaceutical industry to which the basic track of creating performance is applied (strengthening IPRs${\rightarrow}$increasing R&D input/output${\rightarrow}$increasing sales); semiconductor industry where the relationship between stronger IPRs and R&D input/output is weak; and shipbuilding industry which has weak correlation between R&D and sales. It used panel data for 15 years since TRIPs when the patent institution in Korea reached up to the level of advanced countries, and applied the dynamic regression model which estimates the fixed effect model with difference-GMM. As a result, stronger IPRs increased R&D input/output, and financial performance in pharmaceutical industry, but has no influence on semiconductor and shipbuilding industries. That is, it is necessary to customize the construction of system and policy for strengthening IPRs by each industry, and unitary strengthening or weakening may have no significant impact on financial performance improvement in specific sectors.

  • Mobile telecom markets have dramatically increased in the last decade due to a remarkable subscriber base growth. The diffusion patterns of the services are a major concern for mobile carriers preparing those new services. We assume that the diffusion patterns of those services will be similar to those of previous mobile services, and discovering the diffusion patterns of those services is an essential task of mobile carriers for preparing the next mobile services. This study attempts to classify some groups which show similar diffusion patterns of mobile services. Using a traditional diffusion model, this study estimates diffusion patterns of twenty five western European countries. The estimation is based on the monthly penetration ratio of those countries from 1993 to 2004. Based on the estimation, the cluster analysis discovers that there are two different countries groups in terms of mobile diffusion pattern: high imitation countries and low imitation countries. The critical point for classifying the two groups in terms of imitation effect was 0.90. The results provide the basis for developing a causal relationship model which explains the different diffusion pattern of mobile services and planning new networks for the advanced mobile services.

  • Currently the problem of air pollution caused by the motor vehicle emission is one of the most serious problems to be solved. Thus we needed the vehicle emissions audit procedure and technical innovation constraining the motor vehicle emission. The Korean Environmental Protection Agency currently audits automobiles for emissions compliance at assembly plants with multiple attribute multiple staged sampling plans. In order to establish the more reasonable audit procedure, the multiple staged sampling plan designed in this paper has been applied to the domestic vehicles by analyzing the statistic characteristics of the emission distribution. This paper summarizes the auditing procedure and develops methods for determining its statistical characteristics. Specifically, we consider how to evaluate a multiple staged sampling plan, give a procedure that efficiently estimates attribute-type probabilities from multivariate variables-type data, and quantify the effect of tightening the acceptable quality level of the sampling plan. As a result it can be proved that this audit procedure is the reasonable plan minimizing the AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) and is to be used effectively for the auditing procedure constraining the injurious gasses of the motor vehicles.

  • Online game industry is one of the most value added industry and continues to grow rapidly nowadays. This paper classifies the diffusion patterns of online games according to online game genre, estimates coefficients of innovation and imitation using Bass model, extracts the Bass-based adoption life cycle model which reflects the properties of each game, and then analyzes the diffusion pattern of each game. Through the research on the diffusion pattern of online games, if we can identify the characteristics of changing market and consumers in accordance with the product life cycle, we will provide the implications to the marketing strategy, which have to change at every stage of adoption life cycle, not to mention to investment plan.

  • An extended scalar adaptive filter for guided missiles using a global positioning system receiver is presented. A conventional scalar adaptive filter is adequate filter for eliminating sudden abnormal jumping measurements. However, if missile or vehicle velocities have variation, the conventional filter cannot eliminate abnormal measurements. The proposed filter utilizes an acceleration term, which is an improvement not used in previous conventional scalar adaptive filters. The proposed filter continuously estimates noise measurement variance, velocity error variance and acceleration error variance. For estimating the three variances, an innovation method was used in combination with the least square method for the three variances. Results from the simulations indicated that the proposed filter exhibited better position accuracy than the conventional scalar adaptive filter.

  • Most of moving targets are modelled as nonlinear dynamic equations. In recent years, the extended Kalman filter is frequently used for estimating their behaviors. The conditional Gaussian filter is more suitable than extended kalman filter in the filtering problem of nonlinear systems. But extended Kalman filter and conditional Gaussian filter often do not give optimal estimates and fail to track target trajectories because of its properties. Therefore it is desirable to use adaptive techniques to adapt target maneuvers. In this paper, we will discuss adaptive filtering technique using innovation process based on extended Kalman filter in real time, and suggest another maneuver estimation method using MRAS technique.

  • This paper presents a novel scalar adaptive filter, which is reformulated by additional acceleration term. The filter continuously estimates three different kinds of covariance such as the measurement noise covariance, the velocity error covariance and the acceleration error covariance. For estimating three covariances, we use the innovation method for the measurement noise covariance and the least square method for other covariances. In order to verify the proposed filter performance compared with the conventional scalar adaptive filter, we make indoor experimental environment similar to outdoor test using the ultrasonic sensors instead of GPS. Experimental results show that the proposed filter has better position accuracy than the traditional scalar adaptive filter.

  • This paper shows the entire future market volume of the HTS power industry, one of main smart grid equipment, in the case of the final market penetration ratio reaching 100% in the domestic market (South Korea). In this paper, the market penetration ratio is determined using the judgment method, with the market penetration S-curve induced using the Delphi method and the Product Life Cycle from 2011 (supposed launching year, not realistic physical year), to 2050 (expected final target year). This paper analyzes the HTS market penetration ratio of each stage, apparent innovation, early adapters, and the early/late majority and laggard stage, using the S-curve, thus calculating the total future market volume of HTS equipment in the positive sense. Finally, this paper estimates the quantitative analysis results for the HTS4-items (cable, FCL, transformer, rotation machine) of each year within the domestic market.

  • Standards impact the economy in various ways. Moreover, intense competition exists between a variety of standards in this era of globalization. This paper quantifies the economic effect of multiple standards in the Information Communications and Technology (ICT) sector. Thus, it identifies and specifies which standard applies when economic gains exist. A model is developed which quantifies the magnitude of the economic effect of multiple standards as compared with a single standard or no standard. The model allows for both the micro- and macroeconomic gains from standardization to be quantified. Preliminary estimates indicate that at the macro level the multiple standards multiplier is approximately three. That is for every dollar invested, the gain is on the order of three dollars. Although not as robust. preliminary results indicated a similar economic gain at the micro level Overall, multiple standards dominate a single standard. This paper applies the model to IMT-2000, an example of multiple standards, to demonstrate this approach to quantify the standards economic effect.
