회절격자의 변조방식에 따라 형성된 CGH의 재생 영상 분석 (Analysis of Reconstructed Images of Computer Generated Hologram Formed according to Grating Modulation Methods)

  • 회절격자의 회절 효율은 회절격자의 내부에 형성되는 격자의 구조에 의해 영향을 받으며, 이러한 격자의 구조는 변조방식에 의해 결정된다. 컴퓨터 형성 홀로그램(CGH) 역시 기본적으로 회절격자의 원리와 같기 때문에 CGH의 내부에 기록된 패턴은 변조 방식에 따라 달라지며 이 때문에 재생 영상의 성능에 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 사실을 바탕으로 싸인파 변조 및 구형파 변조 방식에 따른 CGH를 제작하고 재생 영상의 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 각각의 변조방식에 대하여 진폭 및 위상형, 위상형 그리고 이진 위상형 CGH의 재생 능력을 분석하였다.

작동형 내시경의 성능 해석 및 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Performance-Analysis and Control of the Active Catheter)

  • This paper deals with the control of an active bending actuator fur a catheter. The bending actuator with 40mm in length utilizes three zigzag SMA (shape memory alloy) springs which are equally located in the circumference between inner $({\phi}2.5 mm)$ and outer $({\phi}3.0mm)$ tube. It is purposed on realization of desired bending angle $(90^{\circ})$ and direction $(360^{\circ})$. It is also installed in front of the catheter and used to guide a path at extremely bent or branched blood vessel. The performance-analysis of the bending actuator are investigated fur the purpose of optimizing the control of the bending actuator. The analog joy stick is used to command a bending angle and direction for the fast and accurate response. According to the commands of the joy stick, tensile force of each SMA spring is computed and obtained by controlling the temperature of each SMA spring using PWM (pulse width modulation) of supplied electric power.

  • The bit error probability of RS/trellis concatenated coded-modualtion system in the mobile radio channel is analyzed. A new upper bound to the symbol error probability of the inner TCM in the mobile radio channel is obtained by exploiting the unequal symbol error probability of the TCM. This bound is applied to the derivation of the upper bound to the bit error probability of the concatenated coded-modulation system. An efficient way of searching distance spectrum of the TCM in mobile radio channel is devised. Our new bounds are tighter than the earlier studied other bounds.

Design of AT-DMB Baseband Receiver SoC

  • This paper presents the design of an advanced terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (AT-DMB) baseband receiver SoC. The AT-DMB baseband is incorporated into a hierarchical modulation scheme consisting of high priority (HP) and low priority (LP) stream decoders. The advantages of the hierarchical modulation scheme are backward compatibility and an enhanced data rate. The structure of the HP stream is the same as that of the conventional T-DMB system; therefore, a conventional T-DMB service is possible by decoding multimedia data in an HP stream. An enhanced data rate can be achieved by using both HP and LP streams. In this paper, we also discuss a time deinterleaver that can deinterleave data for a time duration of 384 ms or 768 ms. The interleaving time duration is chosen using the LP symbol mapping scheme. Furthermore, instead of a Viterbi decoder, a turbo decoder is adopted as an inner error correction system to mitigate the performance degradation due to a smaller symbol distance in a hierarchically modulated LP symbol. The AT-DMB baseband receiver SoC is fabricated using 0.13 ${\mu}m$ technology and shows successful operation with a 50 mW power dissipation.

실린더의 회전 주파수 진동이 Taylor 와류에 미치는 영향 (EFFECTS OF OSCILLATING FREQUENCY ON TAYLOR VORTICES)

  • We study time-periodic Taylor-Couette flow with the outer cylinder at rest and the inner one oscillating with a mean angular velocity. Varying the frequency of inner cylinder, we investigate the change of Taylor vortices at a given amplitude and a mean angular velocity. With a small frequency of modulation, we find that Taylor vortices appear and disappear periodically. With a higher frequency, Taylor vortices do not disappear, but the intensity of Taylor vortices modulates periodically. As the frequency increases, Taylor vortices modulate harmonically.

Anatomical Differentiation and Photosynthetic Adaptation in Brown Algae

  • The photosynthetic parameters of dark- adapted minimum fluorescence (Fo) and maximum quantum yield of charge separation in PSII (Fv/Fm) were measured in transverse sections of eight species of marine Phaeophyceae (species of Laminariales, Fucales, Desmarestiales, Chordariales) using pulse amplified modulation (PAM) fluorometry. Within each transverse section fluorescence was measured in three regions corresponding to outer cortical and meristoderm cells, inner cortical cells and innermost medullary cells. Minimum fluorescence declined from 19-74% (mean of 39%) from outermost to innermost cells. Maximum quantum yield varied from 0.51-0.59 in outermost cell layers and this was reduced to 0.23-0.40 in innermost cell layers, with an average reduction of 50%. Despite the reduction Fo in medullary cells (inner), medullas of all species showed maximum quantum yields consistent with a photosynthetic role in carbon fixation. These results show that medullary cells of complex brown algae have more than a role in structure, storage or transport, and may also provide an important role in carbon fixation.

Current Mode Integrated Control Technique for Z-Source Inverter Fed Induction Motor Drives

  • This paper presents a current mode integrated control technique (CM-ICT) using a modified voltage space vector modulation (MSVM) for Z-source inverter (ZSI) fed induction motor drives. MSVM provides a better DC voltage boost in the dc-link, a wide range of AC output voltage controllability and a better line harmonic profile. In a voltage mode ICT (VM-ICT), the outer voltage feedback loop alone is designed and it enforces the desired line voltage to the motor drive. An integrated control technique (ICT), with an inner current feedback loop is proposed in this paper for the purpose of line current limiting and soft operation of the drive. The current command generated by the PI controller and limiter in the outer voltage feedback loop, is compared with the actual line current, and the error is processed through the PI controller and a limiter. This limiter ensures that, the voltage control signal to the Z-source inverter is constrained to a safe level. The rise and fall of the control signal voltage are made to be gradual, so as to protect the induction motor drive and the Z-source inverter from transients. The single stage controller arrangement of the proposed CM-ICT offers easier compensation. Analysis, Matlab/Simulink simulations, and experimental results have been presented to validate the proposed technique.

컨버터의 폐루프 식별 및 제어기 설계 (Closed-loop Identification and Controller Design for a Converter)

  • This paper presents a new method of designing digital controller based on closed-loop identification of a pulse width modulation (PWM) converter system. We consider the control system structure which is composed of both current control loop and voltage control loop. The current controller can be designed independently of voltage loop. Whereas voltage controller can not do easily due to the PWM switching component which is nonlinear in nature. Furthermore, the control objective of inner loop is to track the sine wave of 60 Hz, but the outer loop shall maintain the constant DC voltage irrespective to load change. To systematically design outer loop controller, we propose a method finding linear approximate model of the nonlinear inner loop part including current controller by closed loop identification. Based on the identified model, we show that a simple digital voltage controller can be directly designed and it has good performance.

  • 위성통신에서는 낮은 PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio), 높은 전송효율, 낮은 BER(Bit Error Rate)을 갖는 변조 기술이 요구되며, DAPSK(Differential Amplitude and Phase Shift Keying) 변조는 이러한 요구조건을 만족시킬 수 있는 기술로 평가되고 있다. 그러나 기존 DAPSK 변조는 정규적인 성좌도를 사용하기 때문에 성좌도의 안쪽 동심원에 존재하는 심볼들의 유클리디안(Euclidean) 거리가 매우 가까워서 높은 성능을 내기에 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 기존 DAPSK 시스템의 성능을 개선하기 위하여 대조표 기반의 효율적인 성좌도 배치법을 사용하는 DAPSK 시스템을 제안하고 성능을 평가한다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 기존 16-DAPSK 시스템과 비교하여 효율적인 성좌도 배치법을 사용하는 16-DAPSK 시스템은 수신 심볼 검출기에 사용되는 심볼의 수 K가 2일 때, $10^{-4}$의 BER 성능을 만족시키기 위한 SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio)을 약 0.8 dB 개선할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

미세채널에서 수력학적 조절을 통한 단분산성 다중 액적 생성 (Microfluidic Preparation of Monodisperse Multiple Emulsion using Hydrodynamic Control)

  • 본 연구는 미세유체의 수력학적 조절을 통한 단분산성 다중 액적 형성방법을 기술한다. 다중 액적을 형성하기 위해 별도의 표면 개질이 필요 없는 co-flowing stream 시스템과 유리 모세관을 이용하여 미세유체 칩을 제작하였다. 유리모세관 미세유체 칩 내부로 0.5 wt% Tween 20이 함유된 증류수, n-hexadecane (5 wt% Span 80), 그리고 10 wt% poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) 수용액을 흘려줌으로써 단분산성 다중 액적(W/O/W)을 성공적으로 형성하였다. 더불어, 내부 액적의 개수를 제어하기 위해 수력학적 변수로 작용하는 중간 유체와 최외각 유체의 부피유속을 고정시키고 내부 유체의 부피유속을 조절하는 방법을 사용하여 다양한 내부 액적을 지니는 다중 유화 액적을 성공적으로 완성하였다. 이와 같은 미세유체 시스템을 통해 형성된 다중 액적은 내부물질의 종류에 따라 다양한 화학반응을 위한 하나의 독립된 마이크로 반응기로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
