A new fluorescent derivatizing reagent was developed to be used in HPLC for the trace determination of primary and secondary amines. This new reagent, 1-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyrene-6-sulfonyl chloride, was synthesized by the chlorination of sodium 1-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyrene-6-sulfonate which was obtained from 1-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyrene after sulfonation. Ephedrine and norephedrine were derivatized quantitatively by this reagent. The optimum conditions for the derivatization such as pH, reagent concentration, reaction time and reaction temperature ware examined. The structures of derivatives were identified by IR, $^{1}$H-NMR and MS methods. The fluorescence properties and the stability of the derivatives were examined. The derivatives were separated on silica column with an isocratic elution using the mixture of n-hexane and ethylacetate and monitored by fluorescene detector. Linear calibration curves were obtained and detection limits in a 10 $\mu$l injection volume were 5 picomole for ephedrine and norephedrine.

Procarcinogen induced DNA single-strand breaks and unschduled DNA synthesis were measured in primary rat hepatocytes culture. For DNA single-strand breaks assay, rat liver DNA was prelabeled by injection 3H-thymidine during the peak of DNA synthesis following partial hepatectomy. Hepatocytes were isolated from the rat 2 weeks after surgery by a collagenase perfusion techinique and maintained as monolayers in serum free medium on collagen-coated culture dishes. DNA sigle-strand breaks were measured by the alkaline elution techinique.

This paper describes the sensorless technique for the surface-mounted permanent-magent synchronous motor(SPMSM or PMSM) drive based on magnetic saliency. The control technique is a sensorless control algorithm that injects the high frequency voltage to the stator terminal in order to estimate the rotor position and speed. The rotor position and speed for sensorless vector control is achieved by appropriate signal processing to extract the position information from the stator current in the low speed range including zero speed. Proposed sensorless algorithm using the double-band hysteresis controller and initial rotor position detection exhibits excellent reference tracking and increased robustness. Experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed control schemes.

A 20-year-old man underwent a Tc-99m HMPAO labeled leukocyte scan for the evaluation of an infection at the stump of an AK amputation, which was conducted due to an open communicated fracture of the left lower leg. Blood-flow and blood-pool images demonstrated a pseudoaneurysm with a focus of intense activity medial to the stump, and centered within a large photopenic defect by surrounding hematoma. Delayed image obtained at 3 hours post-injection showed persistent intense and slight increased activity, Contrast angiography confirmed the presence of a pseudoaneurysm arising from a branch of the left superficial femoral artery.

Five acid hydrazides as precolumn fluorescence derivatization reagents for carboxylic acids in HPLC, which have the benzofuran or benzothiazole moiety conjugated to a furan, thiophene or oxazoline ring, were synthesized and examined in view of reactivity, separability and sensitivity. Of these hydrazides, 2-(5-hydrazinocarbonyl-2-oxazolyl)-5,6-dimethoxybenzothiazole (BTOH) was most favorable. The detection limit of lauric acid as a model acid was 0.1 pmol per $10-{\mu}l$ injection volume at S/N=3, which was roughly equal to that of an analogous compound, 2-(5-hydrazinocarbonyl-2-furyl)-5,6-dimethoxybenzothiazole. The reagent allowed rapid assays of carboxylic acids ($C_{12:0}-C_{20:4}$) within 20 min with satisfactory scparability. The method was applied to the determination of fatty acids in human sera from healthy volunteers as well as from patients with diabetes or thyroid dysfunction.

A method for determination of ammonia-N in environmental water by air-segmented flow injection analysis using the colour reaction of phenol and sodium hypochlorite with ammonia was described in this paper. When the reaction temperature is $70^{\circ}C$ and the reaction residence time is 5 minutes, a sample frequency of $60-90h^{-1}$ can be achieved. The detection limit and relative deviation are $0.05mg.ml^{-1}$ and 4%, respectively. The recovery of this method is 96 - 110%, and the determination results of the method are greatly agreement with standard colorimetric method.

We consider a problem of application of analytical redundancy to engine synchronization process of spark ignition engines, which is critical to timing for every ECU process including ignition and injection. The engine synchronization process we consider here is performed using the pulse signal obtained by the revolution of crankshaft trigger wheel (CTW) coupled to crank shaft. We propose a discrete-time linear model for the signal, for which we construct FDI (Fault Detection & Isolation) system consisting residual generator and threshold based on linear observer.

The purpose on this study is to optimize the chromatographic determination method of trace aldehydes in ambient air. Carbonyl compounds in urban air were trapped at $C_{18}$ DNPH-coated cartridges, and generated hydrazone derivatives were separated by HPLC and detected by UV-vis spectroscopic detector at 360nm. Formaldehyde and acetaldehyde compounds could be isolated from urban(Seoul) air with more than 95% collection efficiency. The analytical detection limits for formaldehyde and acetaldehyde are 0.06pp $b_{v}$, 0.08pp $b_{v}$ for 108 L air samples, respectively. The precision of this method are 3 .sim. 4%(RSD) for mutiple injection of hydrazone standards. Separation of seven dinitrophenylhydrazones could be achieved in appoximately 20 minutes operation time using $C_{18}$ column with apprepriate eluent. The method was applied to the analysis of aldehydes and ketone in Seoul ambient air. The 24-h ambient levels of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde reached up to 6 .sim. 14 and 3 .sim. 8ppbv, respectively. The daily average concentration ratio were 0.60 for acetaldehyde/formaldehyde.yde.

This paper proposes a new type of voltage sag-swell compensator based on a Z-source AC-AC converter. The proposed topology employs a pulse width modulation (PWM) Z-source AC-AC converter along with a injection transformer. A safe commutation strategy is used to eliminate voltage spikes on switches without snubber circuit. During a voltage sag or swell, the proposed system controls the adding or missing voltage and maintains the rated voltage of sinusoidal waveform at the terminals of the critical loads. The proposed system is able to compensate 20[%] voltage swell and is also able to compensate 60[%] voltage sag. In order to control and detect the voltage sag and swell, the peak voltage detection method is applied. Also, the operating principles of the proposed system are described, and a circuit analysis is provided. Finally, PSIM simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed concept and theoretical analysis.

Intramuscular hemangioma is a rare type of hemangiomas and sometimes overlooked by orofacial pain specialist who encountered various types of masticatory muscle problems. A 42-year-old male, presented with feeling of unilateral hypertrophy on left mandibular area, is finally diagnosed as hemangioma with thrombus by excisional biopsy. However, he was initially treated by injection of botulinum toxin A due to misdiagnosis as unilateral masseter hypertrophy. In the present report, we remind the importance of careful examination and diagnostic images to orofacial pain clinicians in early detection of intramuscular hemangioma of masticatory muscles.
