A space radiation analysis has been used to evaluate an ability of electronic equipment boxes or spacecrafts to endure various radiation effects, so it helps design thicknesses of structure and allocate components to meet the radiation requirements. A comparison study of space radiation dose analysis programs SPENVIS Sectoring Tool (SST) and SIGMA II is conducted through some structure cases, simple sphere shell, box and representative satellite configurations. The results and a discussion of comparison will be given. A general comparison will be shown for understanding those programs. The both programs use the same strategy, solid angle sectoring with ray-tracing method to produce an approximate dose at points in representative simple and complex models of spacecraft structures. Also the particle environment data corresponding to mission specification and radiation transport data are used as input data. But there are distinctions between them. The specification of geometry model and its input scheme, the assignment of dose point and the numbers, the prerequisite programs and ways of representing results will be discussed. SST is a web-based interactive program for sectoring analysis of complex geometries. It may be useful for a preliminary dose assessment with user-friendly interfaces and a package approach. SIGMA II is able to obtain from RSICC (Radiation Safety Information Computational Center) as a FOR-TRAN 77 source code. It may be suitable for either parametric preliminary design or detailed final design, e.g. a manned flight or radiation-sensitive component configuration design. It needs some debugs, recompiling and a tedious work to make geometrical quadric surfaces for actual spacecraft configuration, and has poor documentation. This study tried to suggest the basic materials that can be efficiently applied in clinical cases by understanding problems through a content analysis of an adult nursing assessment tool and opinion agreement about nurse's practical usage presently used in the hospital. The study was carried out in 36 attached hospitals in nationwide universities from May to December, 1999, the two hundred and twenty five reports were for analysis. The contents of the collected nursing assessment tool were analyzed. It was found that the tool had been used with various names and content and there were instances of partial omission of a number of items, such as documentation and time records. Other results revealed that they mostly had a systematic classification of items, formation of details a form of a check list, and the effect of saving time. In spite of the adult nursing assessment tool, it was suggested that its style be subdivided according to the specialized of a department and that standardized style be amended and supplemented. The respondents also answered that there had to be education about continuous and sufficient health assessment skills on the physical examination record. The most frequently suggested items to be added were: past history, marital status, patient and caregiver's address and telephone number. It was found that a patient's education career, economic status, religion, hygienic practice, sexual life and hobby were the most frequently omitted items on record. The reason given wes because the items were associated with his/her privacy. These results highlight the importance of analyzing the content with an complete data collection, supplying basic content for a more accurate nursing record, computerization, sharing information and standardization of the form.
Accidents and terrorist acts that utilize explosives have a great influence on society and thus require a prompt investigation for the arrest of the culprit. However, such investigations are often met with difficulties due to the vastness of the crime scene, restrictions on approaching the scene, fragility of the evidence, complexity of investigation, and the lack of expertise. In spite of such facts, scientific investigation regarding explosives have not been widely studied in Korea. Therefore, the focus of this research primarily concerns the effective scientific investigation methods in cases of accidents that involve chemical explosives. Although the a systematic investigation method is at the heart of scientific investigation in cases of explosive accidents, it is only at its rudimentary stage. Therefore, in this research, a systematic investigation method is put forth for the 'scene investigation, the documentation of the scene, and the collection and processing of evidence. Further, I have set forth a 'scene investigation check list' the ensure a thorough scene investigation and to promote an exhaustive evidence collection that would guarantee the admissibility of such evidence in court. The above efforts were aimed at simplifying the currently complicated investigation system. 1) In the future, a guidebook that can be generally applied to accidents involving explosives in Korea ught to be produced, a continual systematic education and integrated training excises for investigators ought to be established, laws that require additives in explosives ought to be instituted so that the type, components, and source of explosives can be identified, and lastly, a database that contain information on former explosion accidents, trends, and techniques of criminal activities that involve explosion accidents should be compiled.

This study analyzes inspection results of ships by Port State Control. Particularly, this research focuses on a detention trend of vessels that registered to Korean Register of Shipping. In order to conduct this research, we have searched 170 ships that got a detention with a Code-30 within recent 46 months period. The deficiencies of the detentions are inspected by ship types, ship years, flags, ports inspected, and criteria. Moreover, we categorized the deficiencies for the detentions into 17 types for internal and external inspections. As the results of the comparison study, bulk and general cargo carriers dominate the portion of detentions by almost 66 percent. Self-induced detention due to a lack of preparation by crews and company support are the main reasons of repeated detentions from the same type ships. Ships between six and ten years old show the lowest detention rate by 4 percent whereas ships less than five years old generate the highest detention rate by 22 percent. The main categories of the detentions from ships less than 5 years old are a lack of documentation and certification, and the clues support our opinion that owners and crews may neglect to prepare the inspections because their strong confidence for the ship condition due to young ship age. As a result of a great effort of Korean government and shipping companies to reduce a detention rate, the detention rate has been recently reduced to 0.3 percent. The results also require companies with the flag of convenience ships to spend more effort to reduce the detention rate, too. We expect that using social networking service by Korea Register will lower the detention rate by sharing relevant information real-time to ships and owners.
It is well known that vital statistics is of great importance as basic data for establishing various range of national policies. Especially, vital statistics is important among demographic information for monitoring and evaluating the population policy, for constructing life table, for making population projection, and for studying various aspects of the society. In principle, the production of vital statistics is based on the registration system. It is, however, still observed that there are some limitations in utilizing fully the registration system due to the inherent problems such as problems in its coverage, accuracies and timeliness. Thus, as an alternative, many countries conduct survey on vital statistics in order to supplement the registration system and obtain in-depth data. Korea is no exception in this aspect. The National Bureau of Statistics carries out the so-called Continuous Demographic Survey. This is a kind of multi-round retrospective survey, covering 32, 000 households and having reference period of one month. The survey has also characteristics of multi-subject sample. Thus, surveys on economic activity status of population, house-hold income & expenditure, and social indicators are together conducted with the same sample. It is, however, found that the survey itself tends to have some quality problems. Especially, the quality problems connected with field data collection are summarized as coverage error, non-response error and response error. Although it is inevitable not to be free from these errors, we should make all our efforts to reduce the errors. The probable schemes pointed out in this paper are as follows : 1) the strengthening formal quality control activities, 2) the review of the survey method, i. e., the combining interview method with mail-sending and mail-back method or pick-up method, 3) well documentation for various cases found in every stage of data collection, and 4) the strengthening the analytical activities. It is, also, emphasized that sincerity of planners and interviewers is the most important factor among other things.
This study is concerned with the educational program Visual Analysis Tool (VAT) for sound development for foreign intonation using personal computer. The VAT can run on IBM-PC 386 compatible or higher. It shows the spectrogram, waveform, intensity and the pitch contour. The system can work freely on either waveform zoom in-out or the documentation of measured value. In this paper, intensity and pitch contour information were used. Twelve French sentences were recorded from a French conversational tape. And three Korean participated in this study. They spoke out twelve sentences repeatly and trid to make the same pitch contour - by visually matching their pitcgh contour to the native speaker's. A sentences were recorded again when the participants themselves became familiar with intonation, intensity and pauses. The difference of pitch contour(rising or falling), pitch value, energy, total duration of sentences and the boundary of rhythmic group between native speaker's and theirs before and after training were compared. The results were as following: 1) In a declarative sentence: a native speaker's general pitch contour falls at the end of sentences. But the participant's pitch contours were flat before training. 2) In an interrogative: the native speaker made his pitch contours it rise at the end of sentences with the exception of wh-questions (qu'est-ce que) and a pitch value varied a greath. In the interrogative 'S + V' form sentences, we found the pitch contour rose higher in comparison to other sentences and it varied a great deal. 3) In an exclamatory sentence: the pitch contour looked like a shape of a mountain. But the participants could not make it fall before or after training.
The process of physical therapy uses a problem-solving approach to enhance a patients's functioning status. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health(ICF) is the common concept for the functioning in the world. Physical therapists require the ability to identify problems, formulate hypothesis, and plan intervention strategies through clinical reasoning. In the clinical process, physical therapists need to use standard and common languages in speech and in documentation. The purpose of this study was to suggest the process of making strategy for efficient intervention, examining and evaluating the functional problem of the person with stroke using ICF tools. For the first step in this process model, therapists could list the information relating to functional problems used by the ICF Core set and then could identify the interaction among the problems using the ICF assessment sheet. For the next step, therapist is needed to make the hypothesis and hypothesis testing, and then set a primary functional goals and therapeutic goals in detail after prioritizing the problems to be managed based on the problem list. Finally, after setting the identified problems as the purpose of intervention through the hypothesis testing, therapist could do some intervention after making a plan to solve these problems, and find out the outcomes using the ICF evaluation display. This report illustrates how to apply the process based on ICF concept into physical therapy practice. Making a decision for the most efficient intervention requires that therapists use the clinical reasoning process based on ICF concept.
In the verification and validation procedures regarding the safety-critical software of nuclear power plants for the attainment of the requisite license from the regulatory body, it is difficult to judge the safety and dependability of the development, implementation, and validation activities through a simple reading and review of the documentation. Therefore, these activities, especially safety assurance activities, require systematic evaluation techniques to determine that software faults are acceptable level. In this study, a safety case methodology is applied in an assessment of the level and depth of the results of the development and validation of a manufacturer in its targeting of the bistable processor of a digital reactor protection system, and the evaluation results are analyzed. This study confirms the possibility of an effective supplementation of the existing safety demonstration method through the application of the employed safety case methodology.
Purpose: Periodontal disease causes tooth loss and is associated with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. The present study proposes using a deep learning-based object detection method to identify periodontally compromised teeth on digital panoramic radiographs. A faster regional convolutional neural network (faster R-CNN) which is a state-of-the-art deep detection network, was adapted from the natural image domain using a small annotated clinical data- set. Materials and Methods: In total, 100 digital panoramic radiographs of periodontally compromised patients were retrospectively collected from our hospital's information system and augmented. The periodontally compromised teeth found in each image were annotated by experts in periodontology to obtain the ground truth. The Keras library, which is written in Python, was used to train and test the model on a single NVidia 1080Ti GPU. The faster R-CNN model used a pretrained ResNet architecture. Results: The average precision rate of 0.81 demonstrated that there was a significant region of overlap between the predicted regions and the ground truth. The average recall rate of 0.80 showed that the periodontally compromised teeth regions generated by the detection method excluded healthiest teeth areas. In addition, the model achieved a sensitivity of 0.84, a specificity of 0.88 and an F-measure of 0.81. Conclusion: The faster R-CNN trained on a limited amount of labeled imaging data performed satisfactorily in detecting periodontally compromised teeth. The application of a faster R-CNN to assist in the detection of periodontally compromised teeth may reduce diagnostic effort by saving assessment time and allowing automated screening documentation.
The purpose of this study is to make a proposal for the planning of the back-to-farming community village. For this study of a community village designed by residents, the information on the residents' participation and the role of a coordinator in the whole planning process of the community village were investigated, based on the rural village development policy. The community village studied here is located at Sannae-myeon, Namwon-city in Jeonbuk-do. Interviews were answered by 17 households and a process coordinator. The results are as follows. 1) The process coordinator participated in the project on the design of village, permission documentation, and construction from the beginning. The coordinator and residents met every month, and discussed the respective housing and the village environment regulation. 2) Every house has its own plan, but the architectural coordinator's counseling and coordination in the planning process resulted in higher participation. Function of common spaces were determined by residents' participation. Finally, common spaces consist of 2 buildings that one would have as much as open spaces to accommodate as many as residents' activities and the other have business facilities. 3) The political assistance is needed to activate construction of resident-participation typed community villages; development of the conflict coordination program and coordinator education program for operation & planning.
