The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae) is considered an ideal eukaryotic model and has long been recognized for its pivotal role in numerous industrial production processes. Depending on the cell cycle phases, microenvironment, and species, S. cerevisiae varies in shape and has different sizes of each shape such as singlets, doublets, and clusters. Obtaining high-purity populations of uniformly shaped S. cerevisiae cells is crucial in fundamental biological research and industrial operations. In this study, we propose an acoustofluidic method for separating S. cerevisiae cells based on their size using surface acoustic wave (SAW)-induced acoustic radiation force (ARF). The SAW-induced ARF increased with cell diameter, which enabled a successful size-based separation of S. cerevisiae cells using an acoustofluidics device. We anticipate that the proposed acoustofluidics approach for yeast cell separation will provide new opportunities in industrial applications.

Sports paradigm shift gave an opportunity to transform into production-oriented industry activities creating high value-added. Sports industrial cluster, organic union of qualitative industries producing and distributing of various sports derivative products, is necessary system in these sports paradigm shift. This study is intended to suggest the definition, construction, and direction for future of sports industrial cluster. In order to ensure the sustainable growth of sports industrial cluster, a growth strategy such as switching to the sementic cluster is needed. And the direction for future of sports industrial cluster were as following; finding the growth engine sports industry field according to the convergence, systematically promoting by setting the medium and long term development goals, constructing a wide industrial region for global competitiveness of sports industry.

This study aims to analyze an evolutionary path and the dynamics of the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex in Korea based on the analysis of cluster life cycles. From the mid 1960s to the late 1990s, the life cycles and their characteristics of the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex (Guro Industrial Park) are examined as emergence-growth-sustainment-decline focused on the number of firms and employees. After the late 1990s, the number of firms and employees increases rapidly and the active actors of the growth and restructuring are transformed to the technology-intensive SMEs and knowledge-based service firms. Knowledge industry centers (apartment-type factories) help evolve into the life cycle of transformation as knowledge-based clusters after the mid 2000s.

It is not so long that the cultural industrial sector has been noted as one of the major engines of regional economy in Korea. In parallel with balanced development strategies recently emphasized in the Korean regional policy, there has been a wide range of investment to formulate cultural industrial districts in major cities. This trend of investment focus has changed the development strategies of each city. There are criticisms, however, to this public sector-dominated nurturing of cultural economy. This paper overviews the recent policy of cultural industrial districts in Korea, in terms of its background, institutional basis, performances, and some evaluations. Some suggestions are provided in order to make the policy successful; emphasize developing the culture industry itself, develop clusters specifically focused on the characteristics of the culture industry, deliberate substantial measures for nurturing companies and human resources in the local regions, and formulate a system in which the local dominates and the center supports.

This research examines strategic preference of domestic and foreign brick-and-mortar companies in an industrial cluster in S. Korea. This paper also examines the relationships between the anticipated benefit factors of introducing online business activities by brick-and-mortar companies and their competitive strategies. Six major honest factors were derived including easiness of obtaining information, online intermediary, online distribution, online communication, sharing information and knowledge. Comparing domestic and foreign companies operating in S. Korea, the analyses show that the benefit factors influence on firms' choosing one or some combination of the competitive strategies. The result also shows that there was no big difference between domestic and foreign companies in terms of strategic preference and anticipated levels of benefit factors by introducing online business activities.

This study proposes to secure the necessity and possibility of creating a footwear-only district utilizing the Kaesong Industrial Complex, a special economic zone in the North Korea. This is a policy proposal to explore strategic values for revitalizing the Korean footwear industry through a win-win cooperation model between the South and North Korea. With SWOT-AHP analysis method, we are planning to establish a strategy to utilize the footwear-only complex in Kaesong Industrial Complex for sustainability of the footwear industry. It presents a direction to overcome the industrial structural problems that the domestic footwear industry is facing with the aspect of the possibility of inter-Korea cooperation. As a result of the analysis, the 'SO strategy' is a proposal to establish inter-Korea cooperation K-shoe belt through footwear clusters in the two Koreas. The 'WO strategy' is an internationalization strategy of the Kaesong footwear-only complex. The 'ST strategy' is the use of flexible governance in the creation of a footwear-only complex for the relief of sanctions against North Korea. The 'WT strategy' is a paradigm shift in the perception of the peace economy in the footwear industry of inter-Korea for the re-opening of the Kaesong Industrial Complex.

Psychological essentialism states that people believe some categories to have hidden and defining essential features which cause other features of the category (Gelman, 2003; Hirschfeld, 1996; Medin & Ortony, 1989). Essentialist belief on categories questions the Roschian argument (Rosch, 1973, 1978) that categories merely consist of clusters of correlated features. Unlike family resemblance categories, essentialized categories are likely to have clear between-category boundaries and high within-category coherence (Gelman, 2003; Prentice & Miller, 2007). Two experiments were conducted to test the effects of essentialist belief on category representation (i.e., between-category boundary, within-category coherence). Participants learned family resemblance and essentialized categories in their assigned conditions and then performed categorization task (Expt. 1) and frequency estimation task of category exemplars (Expt. 2). The results showed, in essentialized categories, both boundary intensification and greater category coherence. Theses results are likely to have arisen due to increased cue and category validity in essentialized categories and suggest that essentialist belief influences macroscopic representation of category structure.

As the non-face-to-face situation continues for a long time due to COVID-19, the underlying technologies of the 4th industrial revolution such as IOT, AR, VR, and big data are affecting the metaverse platform overall. Such changes in the external environment such as society and culture can affect the development of academics, and it is very important to systematically organize existing achievements in preparation for changes. The Korea Educational Research Information Service (RISS) collected data including the 'metaverse platform' in the keyword and used the text mining technique, one of the big data analysis. The collected data were analyzed for word cloud frequency, connection strength between keywords, and semantic network analysis to examine the trends of metaverse platform research. As a result of the study, keywords appeared in the order of 'use', 'digital', 'technology', and 'education' in word cloud analysis. As a result of analyzing the connection strength (N-gram) between keywords, 'Edue→Tech' showed the highest connection strength and a total of three clusters of word chain clusters were derived. Detailed research areas were classified into five areas, including 'digital technology'. Considering the analysis results comprehensively, It seems necessary to discover and discuss more active research topics from the long-term perspective of developing a metaverse platform.

It is the Third Italy's industrial districts that is emerging as effective strategies for regional economic development since 1970' s. Compared with mass production system, it's production system is characterized the cooperative networks of a number of enterprise specialized in specific sector or process. This work will analysis the course of growth and industrial characteristics of Modena engineering industrial district and Mirandola bio-industrial district as the exemplary industrial district, so elucidate new principle of building industrial space named development of industrial districts. This work point out three characteristics which these industrial districts have. First, these districts have the production system based vertical dis-integration and specialization among enterprise like general industrial districts in Third Italy. This factor make Modena and Mirandola's production system coupled with specialized enterprise in coping with various demand of consumer. Second, technological innovation is very important factor in growing industrial districts. This factor contributes these two districts to have developed as the competitive industrial clusters in the world. Last point is the difference of local governance by the two city governments. Modena city government has made a lot of industrial spaces but in Mirandola the leading enterprise has contributed to shape the industrial district.

In many cases, clustering algorithms have been used for extracting and discovering useful information from non-linear data. They have made a great effect on performances of the systems dealing with non-linear data. Thus, this paper presents a new approach called hierarchically structured clustering algorithm, and it is applied to the prediction system for non-linear time series data. The proposed hierarchically structured clustering algorithm (called HCKA: Hierarchical Cross-correlation and K-means clustering Algorithms) in which the cross-correlation and k-means clustering algorithm are combined can accept the correlationship of non-linear time series as well as statistical characteristics. First, the optimal differences of data are generated, which can suitably reveal the characteristics of non-linear time series. Second, the generated differences are classified into the upper clusters for their predictors by the cross-correlation clustering algorithm, and then each classified differences are classified again into the lower fuzzy sets by the k-means clustering algorithm. As a result, the proposed method can give an efficient classification and improve the performance. Finally, we demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed HCKA via typical time series examples.
