Recently, the condensation of walls often occurring in domestic high-rise apartment buildings is an important problem. The main purpose of this study is to develop the prediction method for the surface condensation on curtain wall in high-rise apartment buildings. Therefore, in this study, we first analyzed exterior climate factors through the analysis of the Seoul climate data and predicted the change of indoor temperature by using Apache program to find the cause of the condensation state and to prevent condensation. Also, according to this result, exterior climate factors and interior factors, which caused the condensation, was examined. The thermal performance of the curtain wall and the range of potential condensation were analyzed to focus on high-rise apartment buildings through computer simulation programs. The results are as $follows;^1$) The frame edge of curtain wall has a higher U-value than in the center by $30%^2$) Because of stack effect, the rooms on the higher floor have a lower external ventilation rate resulting to a higher relative humidity3) Installing a ventilation system($20m^3$/h. person) makes it possible to have a higher external ventilation rate, resulting to a lower relative humidity.
This study was carried out to develop the control system with PLC and its operating software and to investigate its control ability of greenhouse environments. Two experimental greenhouses were controlled by PLC and ON/OFF controller, respectively. In greenhouse controlled by PLC, target values of air temperature, relative humidity and $CO_2$ concentration were automatically changed. In warm-water heating, the variation of air temperature was reduced to $\pm$$0.6^{\circ}C$ by the method of proportional-integration(PI) control with an inverter. In ventilation, the variation of air temperature was reduced, since windows open and close with multistage by mutual relation formula among the target, indoor, and outdoor temperature. Relative humidity at daytime was maintained with range of 35% to 55% by PLC controlled fogger. $CO_2$ concentration was automatically controlled from 300 to 800 $\mu$molㆍ$mol^{-1}$ according to amount of solar radiation. The suppling amount and frequency of nutrient solution were controlled by total integrated solar radiation. Difference in the yield of cucumber in the greenhouse controlled by PLC and by ON/OFF controller was not significant at the 5% level.
This study was performed to assess airborne fungi concentrations during fall in eight subway stations in Seoul, Korea. The purpose of this study was to investigate appropriate culture media and evaluate factors affecting airborne fungi concentrations. Results indicated that airborne fungi concentrations showed log-normal distribution. Thus, geometric mean (GM) and geometric standard deviation (GSD) were calculated. The GM of airborne fungi concentrations cultured on malt extract agar (MEA) media was 466 $cfu/m^3$ (GSD 3.12; Range 113~4,172 $cfu/m^3$) and the GM of concentrations cultured on DG18 media was 242 $cfu/m^3$ (GSD 4.75; Range 49~6,093 $cfu/m^3$). Both of GM values exceeded 150 $cfu/m^3$, the guideline of World Health Organization (WHO). There was no significant difference between two fungi concentrations cultured on MEA and DG18 media, respectively. Two factors, such as relative humidity and depths of subway stations were significantly related to airborne fungi concentrations. It is recommended that special consideration should be given to deeper subway stations for improvement of indoor air quality.

Along with the increase in the standard of living, the interest and awareness level of the public about environmental issues have also gradually increased. Recently, time spent on indoor activities have increased and the need for awareness and demand on methods in improving the quality of an indoor environment has been recognized. The purpose of this study is to sense the environment information through real-time monitoring of the room environment by using the IoT based technology and to maintain and improve the indoor environment to an appropriate level through the developed interlocking controller device. This provides an automatic control system in improving the indoor environment at home and other small areas like general offices in place of the traditional passive interior environmental improvement actions or large-scale facility control system. A status analysis with the relative reference values of the air quality and CO2, temperature and humidity and illumination and noise was applied through transmitting a control signal to automatic control module in accordance with the nine indoor environment standards set to improve the indoor environment.
Physical, mechanical and deteriorating properties of Phellodendron amure were investigated. Air dried density located indoor was 0.41 but $0.43g/cm^3$ outdoor. In oven dry shrinkage, T/R ratio for located indoor was 1.40 but 1.32 outdoor. Hygroscopic property at $40^{\circ}C$ with 90% relative humidity was 16.30% for indoor and 15.80% for outdoor. Compressive strength for outdoor conditioned sample was 43.81 MPa but 40.33 MPa for indoor conditioned. Also bending strenght for outdoor conditioned was 84.63 MPa but 68.80 MPa for indoor conditioned. Impact strength was 3.43 and $4.00J/cm^2$ indoor and outdoor, respectively. Hardness at cross-section was 47.92 and 49.20 MPa indoor and outdoor, respectively. With one-year conditioning at indoor or outdoor, there was no significantly different in strength properties, which came from strong resistance for deterioration. Also Phellodendron amure wood showed dimensionally stable raw material based on low T/R ratio.
Objectives: A hospital is a complex building that serves many different purposes. The indoor environment in a hospital plays a major role in patient well-being and the work efficiency of the hospital staff. This study was conducted to evaluate overall comfort in two major hospitals over the course of one year. Methods: Various indoor environmental conditions were measured in two general hospitals for one year (April 2014 to April 2015). Monitoring alternated between the hospitals at one month per respective monitoring session. The indoor air temperature, relative humidity (RH), mean radiant temperature and air velocity were measured in order to calculate the predicted mean vote (PMV). Carbon dioxide concentration, noise level and illumination level were concurrently measured and applied to the overall IEQ acceptance model for the hospitals (IEQh). Results: The IEQh at the two general hospitals was different at five spaces within a building. The IEQh for summer and winter were significantly different. Real-time IEQh demonstrated that indoor comfort was affected by the hospital's operating hours due to operation of the HVAC system. The percentage of indoor comfort in the hospitals was higher using PMV than IEQh. Conclusion: IEQh in the hospitals was different at locations with different purposes. Indoor comfort assessment using IEQh was stricter than with PMV. Additional research is needed in order to optimize the IEQh model.

Indoor air quality has been addressed as an important atmospheric environmental issue and has caught attention of the public in recent years in Korea. Good indoor air quality in classrooms favour student's learning ability, teacher and staff's productivity according to other studies. In this study, each classroom at four different schools was chosen for comparison of indoor and outdoor air quality by means of source generation types such as new constructed classroom, using of cleaning agents and purchased furniture. Temperature, relative humidity (RH), carbon dioxide $(CO_2)$, formaldehyde (HCHO), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and particulate matter with diameter less than $10{\mu}m\;(PM_{10})$ were monitored at indoor and outdoor locations during lesson. HCHO was found to be the worst among parameters measured in new constructed classroom, HCHO and TVOCs was worst in classroom with new purchased furniture, and TVOCs was worst in classroom cleaned by cleaning agents, Indoor $(CO_2)$ concentrations often exceeded 1500 ppm indicating importance of ventilation. Active activity of students during break time made the $PM_{10}$ concentration higher than a lesson, Improvements and further researches should be carried out considering indoor air quality at schools is of special concern since children and students are susceptible to poor air quality.
The peak demand of electricity in summer season mainly comes from the day time cooling loads. Ice thermal Storage System (ITSS) uses off-peak electricity at night time to make ice for the day time cooling. In order to maximize the use of cold storage in ITSS, the estimation of day time cooling load for the building is necessary. In this study, we present a method of cooling load estimation using 5 years of normalized outdoor temperature, relative humidity, and the building construction data. We applied the hourly-based estimation to a general hospital building with relatively less sudden heat exchange and the results are compared with the measured cooling load of the building. The results show that the cooling loads estimation depends on the indoor cooling design temperature of the building.
The purpose of this research is to analyze characteristics and related factors of IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) in newly built wooden houses by measuring pre and post occupancy. The subjects were five wooden houses which were built with similar materials and completed from July to December 2013. Measuring factors were TVOC, HCHO, PM10, $CO_2$, CO, indoor temperature, and relative humidity. As the result of pre occupancy measuring, the houses that revealed the lowest TVOC concentration or HCHO concentration were satisfied with "the standard for newly built apartment houses". Therefore, IAQ by the wooden structures is considered to be in good condition. However, in cases of partial value exceeded the standard, the reason is analyzed to be the materials of molding, wrapping doors, built-in closet, or kitchen furniture, etc. rather than structure materials. Most PM10 concentration level showed slightly below "the standard for occupied multi-use facilities". Remaining of construction dust was considered to be the reason. As the result of post occupancy measuring, every value except of one subject's TVOC concentration was lower than pre occupancy, explaining the importance of natural ventilation.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference of thermal sensation by radiant floor heating as ecological design element. The experimental investigations were carried out in climate chamber, and subjects were 34 college-age females in good health. The experimental variable was radiant heat by floor heating, and experimental controlled conditions were indoor temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity in climate chamber and clothing value and activity of subjects. The results are as follows. (1) Indoor temperature($21{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$) in climate chamber were maintained as controlling. Clothing values of the subjects were controlled as average 0.73 clo. In the floor heating-off, globe temperature was average $23.2^{\circ}C$(22.4~24.1), but in the floor heating-on, globe temperature was average $24.8^{\circ}C$(23.0~25.5). (2) In the floor heating-off, thermal sensation rating was average -1.03(slightly cool), in the floor heating-on, thermal sensation rating was average +1.03(slightly warm). (3) There were the differences of thermal sensation by radiant floor heating although indoor temperatures were maintained in an equal state. (4) The thermal sensation rating was tending upward according as the globe temperature was getting higher.
