  • This study conducted to predict the stock market prices based on the assumption that internet news articles might have an impact and effect on the rise and fall of stock market prices. The internet news articles were tested to evaluate the accuracy by comparing predicted values of the actual stock index and the forecasting models of the companies. This paper collected stock news from the internet, and analyzed and identified the relationship with the stock price index. Since the internet news contents consist mainly of unstructured texts, this study used text mining technique and multiple regression analysis technique to analyze news articles. A company H as a representative automobile manufacturing company was selected, and prediction models for the stock price index of company H was presented. Thus two prediction models for forecasting the upturn and decline of H stock index is derived and presented. Among the two prediction models, the error value of the prediction model (1) is low, and so the prediction performance of the model (1) is relatively better than that of the prediction model (2). As the further research, if the contents of this study are supplemented by real artificial intelligent investment decision system and applied to real investment, more practical research results will be able to be developed.

  • Recently, people's desire for the waterfront space has been increasing, and more people want to spend their leisure time close to the water. This paper proposes a damage detection technique using the static strain for the floating structure. An existing damage index, in which the modal strain energy was utilized to identify possible location of damage, is expanded to apply the static strain. The new damage index is expressed in terms of the static strains of undamaged and damaged structures. After calculating damage index, the possible damage locations in the structure are determined by the pattern recognition technique. The accuracy and feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated by using experimental strain data from a scale model of floating structure.

  • This study applies fuzzy functions to improve image quality under the assumption that uncertainty of image information due to low contrast is based on vagueness and ambiguity of the brightness pixel values. To solve the problem of low contrast images whose brightness distribution is inclined, we use the k-means algorithm as a parameter of the fuzzy function, through which automatic critical points can be found to differentiate objects from background and contrast between bright and dark points can be improved. The fuzzy function is presented at the three main stages presented to improve image quality: fuzzification, contrast enhancement and defuzzification. To measure improved image quality, we present the fuzzy index and entropy index and in comparison with those of histogram equalization technique, it shows outstanding performance.

  • The necessity of future index is increasing to predict the future location of moving objects promptly for various location-based services. A representative research topic related to future index is the probability trajectory prediction technique that improves reliability using the past trajectory information of moving objects in the road network environment. However, the prediction performance of this technique is lowered by the heavy load of extensive future trajectory search in long-range future queries, and its index maintenance cost is high due to the frequent update of future trajectory. Thus, this paper proposes the Probability Cell Trajectory-Tree (PCT-Tree), a cell-based future indexing technique for efficient long-range future location prediction. The PCT-Tree reduces the size of index by rebuilding the probability of extensive past trajectories in the unit of cell, and improves the prediction performance of long-range future queries. In addition, it predicts reliable future trajectories using information on past trajectories and, by doing so, minimizes the cost of communication resulting from errors in future trajectory prediction and the cost of index rebuilding for updating future trajectories. Through experiment, we proved the superiority of the PCT-Tree over existing indexing techniques in the performance of long-range future queries.

  • View index techniques are proposed to process queries on views. Signature referencing techniques keep pointers with signatures of the referred object when there is any reference relationship between objects. When queries having conditions on referred object are give, disk I/Os can be reduced by checking conditions using stored signatures. Signature view index techniques proposed in this paper apply signature referencing techniques to view index by keeping not only tuple identifiers but also signatures for the tuple. When queries having conditions on views regiven, we can retrieve only tuples from a view index which satisfy given conditions by checking those with stored signatures.

  • The inverted index is combination of the keywords and posting lists associated for indexing of document. In modern age excessive use of technology has increased data volume at a very high rate. Big data is great concern of researchers. An efficient Document indexing in big data has become a major challenge for researchers. All organizations and web engines have limited number of resources such as space and storage which is very crucial in term of data management of information retrieval system. Information retrieval system need to very efficient. Inverted indexing technique is introduced in this research to minimize the delay in retrieval of data in information retrieval system. Inverted index is illustrated and then its issues are discussed and resolve by implementing the scalable inverted index. Then existing algorithm of inverted compared with the naïve inverted index. The Interval list of inverted indexes stores on primary storage except of auxiliary memory. In this research an efficient architecture of information retrieval system is proposed particularly for unstructured data which don't have a predefined structure format and data volume.

  • In this paper. we propose an enhanced concurrency control algorithm that minimizes the query delay efficiently. The factors that delay search operations and deteriorate the concurrency of index structures are node splits and MBR updates in multi dimensional index structures. In our algorithm, to reduce the query delay by split operations, we optimize exclusive latching time on a split node. It holds exclusive latches not during whole split time but only during physical node split time that occupies small part of whole split time. Also to avoid the query delay by MBR updates we introduce partial lock coupling(PLC) technique. The PLC technique increases concurrency by using lock coupling only in case of MBR shrinking operations that are less frequent than MBR expansion operations. For performance evaluation, we implement the proposed algorithm and one of the existing link technique-based algorithms on MIDAS-III that is a storage system of a BADA-III DBMS. We show through various experiments that our proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithm In terms of throughput and response time.

  • In this study, a terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) imaging technique was used to measure doping concentration and physical properties (such as refractive index and permittivity) of the doped silicon (Si) wafers. The transmission and reflection modes with an incidence angle of $30^{\circ}$ were employed to determine the physical properties of the doped Si wafers. The doping concentrations of the prepared Si wafers were varied from $10^{14}$ to $10^{18}$ in both N-type and P-type cases. Finally, the correlation between the doping concentration and the power of the THz wave was determined by measuring the powers of the transmitted and reflected THz waves of the doped Si wafers. Additionally, the doped thickness, the refractive index, and permittivity of each doped Si wafer were calculated using the THz time domain waveform. The results indicate that the THz-TDS imaging technique is potentially a promising technique to measure the doping concentration as well as other optical properties (such as the refractive index and permittivity) of the doped Si wafer.
