Radiation Effects on Electrical Treeing Characteristics of Low Density Polyethylene (저밀도 폴리에틸렌의 방사선 조사에 따른 전기 트리 특성 변화)

  • Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) is used for crosslinking agent in general. And the correlation between polyethylene and DCP is significant in particular radiation environment. On this paper, The effects on $Co^{60}{\gamma}$-ray irradiation of polyethylene doped dicumyl peroxide(DCP) were investigated. We experimented on electrical properties as following; electrical tree inception and growing type for applying AC step voltage, AC breakdown strength, volume resistivity, capacitance and dissipation factor at high frequency as increasing dosage. Also, chemical analysis was performed TGA, gel content.

  • The effectiveness of treeing resistance in low density polyethylene containing azocompounds were investigated under radiation environments. 4-(4-nitrophenylazo)-1-naphthol and 4-(4-nitrophenylazo) resorcinol were selected for treeing inhibitors. LDPE containing the additives were crosslinked with dicumyl peroxide, irradiated by $Co^{60}$ ${\gamma}$-ray in the presence of air at room temperature. Treeing inception voltage, AC breakdown strength measurements were carried out for electrical insulation characteristics, thermoluminescence and gel contents were analyzed as various irradiation doses also. LDPE with treeing inhibitors showed much better insulation characteristics than pure LDPE. It is interpreted that molecular structures, polar groups and the type of radicals connected on the benzene ring of the additives affected electrical characteristics. From the results, 4-(4-nitrophenylazo) resorcinol was the most effective upon the best treeing and radiation resistance.

  • In this paper the development of new technique based on the travelling-wave information contained in the post fault voltage and current signals has been presented. To develop fault location methods which can cope with close-up fault and zero-inception angle problems, magnitude of the backward wave has been used. The technique developed can be incorporated in a generalized algorithm for application as a high speed distance scheme. In this way some of the problems and limitations associated with travelling wave schemes are avoided. Verification of the relay operating principles is presented through digital computer numerical simulation using an electromagnetic transient program(EMTP) in conjunction with simulation of the proposed algorithms.

  • Power transmission lines are one of the most important components of electric power system. Failures in the operation of power transmission lines can result in serious power system problems. Hence, fault diagnosis (transient or permanent) in power transmission lines is very important to ensure the reliable operation of the power system. A hidden Markov model (HMM), a powerful pattern recognizer, classifies events in a probabilistic manner based on fault signal waveform and characteristics. This paper presents application of HMM to classify faults in overhead power transmission lines. The algorithm uses voltage samples of one-fourth cycle from the inception of the fault. The simulation performed in EMTPWorks and MATLAB environments validates the fast response of the classifier, which provides fast and accurate protection scheme for power transmission lines.

The Effect of Pressurized Hydrogen on the Aging and Partial Discharge Activity in Generator Winding Insulations (가압 수소가 발전기 고정자 권선 절연 열화와 부분 방전 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of H$_2$ pressure on partial discharge (PD) activity and aging rate in turbine generator winding insulations. A series of field tests and laboratory tests were peformed to investigate the effect of $H_2$ pressure on PD activity. Field tests were conducted at two unit turbine generators in two conditions, in $H_2$ pressure and in air atmosphere. Obtained results are as follows ; 1) ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ and maximum partial discharge are reduced with increase of $H_2$ pressure and partial discharge inception voltage. 2) The reduction ratio of ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ due to $H_2$ pressure is higher than one of PD magnitude. 3) Partial discharge pulses suffer from attenuation and distortion when transmitted along windings, because of the complex L-C network between windings. From the result, partial discharge pulses are subjected to resonance phenomena in a generator winding.

  • 낙뢰 또는 수목 접촉 등의 일시적인 사고가 발생하면 계통내 접촉 위치에 순간적으로 아크 현상이 일어나게 된다. 일시 고장 원일을 제거하기 위해 기계적으로 전기의 흐름을 단절시켜 고장 원인을 제거하고, 재투입을 통해 계통 복구를 할 수 있다. 아크는 음극과 양극 사이의 방전으로 인한 플라즈마로 설명될 수 있는데 전력 계통에서는 저항으로서 취급할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 765kV 모델 계통의 아크 현상 시뮬레이션을 통해 고장각 발생 변화에 따른 아크 전압 특성을 분석할 것이다. 또한 아크 특성 분석을 통해 우리는 아크 발생 시 전력 계통에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 분석하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 전력 계통의 과도현상 분석 프로그램인 EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transient Program)를 이용하여 아크현상에 대한 분석 및 765kV계통에서의 아크 고장을 시뮬레이션 하였다.

  • 전력 계통에서 고장이 발생하게 되면 이를 제거하기 위해 차단기가 동작하게 된다. 차단기가 동작하게 되면 선로가 차단되고 건전상과 고장상 사이의 정전 현상에 의해 아크현상이 발생하며, 이러한 현상은 송전 선로에서 일시 사고의 형태로 가장 빈번하게 발생하는 현상이다. 따라서 일시고장의 주요 현상이 되는 아크를 정확하게 파악하고 이해하는 것은 송전 계통에서 가장 중요한 과제 중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 다양한 아크모델 중 ZnO 아크 모델을 ATPDraw를 통해 구현하였으며 이를 765kV 송전선로에 연결하여 고장 발생각 변화에 따른 전압 특성을 분석하였다.

  • This paper deals with the relationships between discharge current wave form and the structure of AC PDP cells. The Paschen minimum can be found in the range of $200{\sim}300\;torr$ under the condition of electrode width of $300{\mu}m$ and $100{\mu}m$ electrode gap. Furthermore, the charge current does not vary with the gas pressure, whereas the time delay in the discharge inception voltage decreased both peak and r.m.s discharge current increase with gas pressure and electrode width.

  • Treeing inhibitors of barbituric acid derivatives effects on the electrical properties of crosslinked low density polyethylene under radiation environments were investigated. The electrical parameters for tree inception voltage, AC breakdown strength, volume resistivity, capacitance and dissipation factor at 1MHz and thermoluminescence, gel content measurements were discussed as a function of irradiated dosages. From the results, barbituric acid among the treeing inhibitors was shown the best treeing and radiation resistance.

  • The inhibiting effects of electrical treeing and insulation properties of LDPE contained with treeing inhibitors was studied under radiation environment. Barbituric acid and its derivatives were selected as treeing inhibitors. The inception voltage and growth of tree, AC breakdown strength, volume resistivity, high frequency capacitance, and dissipation factor were observed as a function of dose(up to 1000 kGy). And also, measurements of thermo-luminescence(TL), and gel content were carried out. Crosslinked low density polyethylene(XLPE) contained with treeing inhibitors shows better insulation characteristics such as electrical tree propagation, AC breakdown strength, and volume resistivity than those of pure LDPE. The most effective treeing inhibitor was found on the barbituric acid contained XLPE.
