  • Purpose - This study aims to develop and empirically test a multi-dimensional service convenience scale with the dimensions and measurement items of service convenience perceived by Korean consumers in retail contexts. Research design, data, and methodology - The study adopts the framework suggested by Berry et al. (2002) and conceptualizes service convenience as a second-order reflective construct comprising 31 items. Three department store chains (Hyundai, Lotte, and Shinsegae) and three discount store chains (E-mart, Homeplus, and Lotte Mart) were involved 510 valid responses were used for the empirical testing. Results - The measurement model is acceptable for internal consistency, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. Further, the structural model results show that service convenience is positively related to satisfaction. Results of the rival model comparison indicate that the proposed second-order factor model provides a better fit to the data than both the five-factor and the one-factor model. Conclusions - The multi-dimensional, second-order conceptualization of service convenience is robustly supported. This study provides psychometrically valid scales to measure service convenience in retail contexts as conceptualized by Berry et al. (2002).

  • Today's Virtual Reality(VR) technology has become considerably more affordable and sophisticated with rapidly advancing computer technology. Photo-realistic visual representations along with real-time interactivity are now achievable without special programing knowledge and expensive equipment. The purpose of this paper is to establish how simple, credible user testing methods based on VR simulations can be utilized to improve design decision making towards more sensible design solutions for end-users. Results of a case study demonstrate the value of potential user-testing feedback in a simulated 3D virtual service space, i.e., restaurant interior. User feedback from the VR simulation includes preferences in table location, privacy, and values of seating preferred tables. A new design framework incorporating an empirical testing method for service spaces is presented. The overall design process, the development of the VE, and the user testing method and findings are discussed. This study provides useful guidances for future efforts in the areas where such technology may benefit to understand end-user feedbacks in design process.

  • The major objective of this study is to proposal of measuring method and design for the testing curved railway in which the tilting train runs. In order to the speed-up of conventional lines that have many curve lines, there needs a improvement construction of substructure such as the straight or double track work and so on. But in this case, it needs to have a plenty of the cost and the period. Therefore, the tilting train which provides the high-speed service effectively in curve tracks was developed. Besides, the efficiency prediction and the linear synthesis of the existing conventional line for a tiling train service were examined on the preceding studies. So, in this paper we propose the measuring plan and the design of the improvement sections in the testing curved track which was decided as a results of material analysis and field research concerning the extension possibility of transition curves and the bearing of track due to the new developed train traveling. And we look forward to playing a decisive role as reference data on the improvement construction project for the commercial service of the tilting train.

  • Recently, the need for accessing information from anywhere at any time has been a driving force for a variety of mobile applications. As the number of mobile applications increases rapidly, there has been a growing demand for the use of Service Oriented Architectures(SOA) for various applications. Mobile based SOA offers a systematic way to classify and assess technical realizations of business processes. But mobile has severly restricted range of utilizing services in computing environment and more, a mobile computer is envisioned to be equipped with more powerful capabilities, including the storage of a small database, the capacity of data processing, a narrow user input and small size of display. This paper present mobile adaption method based on SOA to overcome mobile restriction. To improve mobile efficient we analyzing mobile application requirement writing service specification, optimizing design, providing extended use case specification which test use case testing and testing service test case which derived from service specification. We discuss an mobile application testing that uses a SOA as a model for deploying discovering, specifying, integrating, implementing, testing, and invoking services. Such a service use case specification and testing technique including some idea could help the mobile application to develop cost efficient and dependable mobile services.

  • The railway system requires safety and reliability of service of all railway vehicles. Suitable technical systems and working methods adapted to it, which meet the requirements on safety and good order of traffic, should be maintained. For detection of defects, non-destructive testing methods-which should be quick, reliable and cost-effective - are most often used. Since failure in railway wheelset can cause a disaster, regular inspection of defects in wheels and axles are mandatory. Ultrasonic testing, acoustic emission and eddy current testing method and so on regularly check railway wheelset in service. However, it is difficult to detect a crack initiation clearly with ultrasonic testing due to noise echoes. It is necessary to develop a non-destructive technique that is superior to conventional NDT techniques in order to ensure the safety of railway wheelset. In the present paper, the new NDT technique is applied to the detection of surface defects for railway wheelset. To detect the defects for railway wheelset, the sensor for defect detection is optimized and the tests are carried out with respect to surface and internal defects each other. The results show that the surface crack depth of 1.5 mm in press fitted axle and internal crack in wheel could be detected by using the new method. The ICFPD method is useful to detect the defect that initiated in railway wheelset.

  • Nuclear power plant steam generator that is one of the main component has several thousands of thin tubes. And the steam generator tube is subject to damage because of the severe operation conditions such as the high temperature and pressure. Therefore periodic inspections are conducted to ensure the integrity of steam generator component. Hanul unit 3 also has been inspected in accordance with in-service inspection program and is scheduled to be replaced for exceeding the plugging rate which was recommended by manufacturer. During the steam generator replacement activity, we found several clustered porosity on inner surface of main feed water pipe. Additionally crack-like indications were found at weld interface between base material and weld of main feed water pipe. This paper describes the field experience and visual testing results for inner surface of main feed water pipes. The destructive test result had shown that these indications were porosities which were caused by manufacturing process not by operation service.

  • The thyristor among the power-semi-conductor elements, which has large current capacity and high voltage, is used widely nowadays. When the thyristor was being used to the long time, this element may be able to arise the system trip caused by changing the characteristic and dropping the performance. Therefore, it would be necessary to analyze the characteristic of element to maintain the stable operation of the system. In oder to analyze this characteristic, it would be need to test forward direction, reverse direction and leakage current by supplying the half-sine wave voltage. Among these testing, transient current condition is generated from the testing of leakage current. This transient current may be the main factor of the error in the precise measurement of leakage current. Therefore, this paper analyzes the relationship between supply voltage and transient current in measuring leakage current of the SCR, and then suggests the condition and cause of transient current as appearing the leakage current in the testing the leakage current.

  • Ultrasonic testing is one of the most widely used method of nondestructive testing for pre-service inspection(PSI) & in-service inspection(ISI) in structures of bridges, power plants, chemical plants & heavy industrial fields. It is very important to estimate safety, life, quality of structures. Also, a lot of research for quantities evaluation & analyses inspection data is proceeding. But traditional portable ultrasonic flaw detector had been following disadvantages. 1) Analog ultrasonic flaw detector decreased credibility of ultrasonic test, because it is impossible for saving data & digital signal processing. 2) Stand-alone digital ultrasonic flaw detector cannot effectively evaluate received signals because of lack of its storage memory. To overcome this shortcoming, we develop the computer based ultrasonic flaw detector for nondestructive testing. It can store the received signal and effectively evaluate the signal, and then enhance the reliability of the testing results.

  • Recently, Web services based service-oriented architecture is widely used to integrate effectively various applications distributed on the networks. In the service-oriented architecture BPEL as a standard modeling language for the business processes provides the way to integrate various services provided by applications. Over the past few years, some types of studies have been made on testing compatibility of services and on discriminating and tracing of the business processes in the services composition. Now a lot of studies about the services composition with BPEL are going on. However there were few efforts to solve the problems caused by the services composition. Especially, there is no effort to evaluate whether a composite service is reliable and whether it is robust against to exceptional situations. In this paper, we suggest a test framework and a testing method for robustness of the composite service written in WS-BPEL. For this, firstly we extract some information from the BPEL process and the participant services. Next, with the extracted information we construct the virtual testing environment that generates various faults and exceptional cases which may be raised within the real services. Finally the testing work for robustness of a composite service is performed on the test framework.
