Development of roll - up ventilation system for pipe- constructed plastic film greenhouse (파이프 비닐온실용 권취식 창개폐기의 개발)

  • This study was carried out to get required torque data needed to design and develop a roll-up ventilation system in a pipe-constructed plastic film green-house. The results obtained from this study are as follows : 1. The required torques of a roll-up ventilation system in greenhouse are the functions of its length. The torques should multiplied by the conversion coefficients (2.0 in ceiling vent, 1.8 in side vent) in case of application. 2. In constructing pipe-constructed plastic film greenhouse, a shaft pipe is the largest essential element in roll - up shaft weight constitution which have an effect on the required torques. Therefore, the pipe should be light using nonferrous materials like aluminum alloy. 3. A planetary reduction ventilator of differential ring gear type is suitable for a roll-up ventilation system, because it can make high efficient reduction just using the first step shift.

A Review of Corrosion and Hydrogen Diffusion Behaviors of High Strength Pipe Steel in Sour Environment

  • A brief overview is given of the corrosion and hydrogen diffusion behaviors of high strength pipe steel in sour environment. Firstly, hydrogen adsorption and diffusion mechanism of the pipe steel is introduced. Secondly, the effect of iron sulfide film precipitated as a result of the corrosion reaction on the steel surface on hydrogen reduction reaction and subsequent hydrogen permeation through the steel is discussed. Moreover, the hydrogen diffusion behavior of the pipe steel under tensile stress in both elastic and plastic ranges is reviewed based on a number of experimental permeation data and theoretical models describing the hydrogen diffusion and trapping phenomena in the steel. It is hoped that this paper will result in significant academic contributions in the field of corrosion and hydrogen related problems of the pipe steel used in sour environment.

  • In generally, a high pressure fuel injection pipe has been often used as a fuel supply line in automobiles or other diesel engines. Such conventional high pressure fuel injection pipe, however, has suffered from the problem that is folding and hair cracks created therein. The defects can be locally formed in the inner wall surface of the pipe at the connecting head leading to a flow path when the pipe is deformed by the heading process. In the study, in order to prevent the folding in the inner wall surface of the pipe during the heading process, FE-analysis has been used in the die design.

  • In the nuclear power plant, emergency core coolant system(ECCS) is furnished at reactor coolant system(RCS) in order to cool down high temperature water in case of emergency. However, in this coolant system, it occurs thermal stratification phenomena in case that there is the mixing of cooling water and high temperature water due to valve leakage in ECCS. This thermal stratification phenomena raises excessive thermal stresses at pipe wall. Therefore, this phenomena causes the accident that reactor coolant flows in reactor containment in the nuclear power plant due to the deformation of pipe and thermal fatigue crack(TFC) at the pipe wall around the place that it exists. Hence, in order to fundamental identification of this phenomena, it requires the experimental research of modeling test in the pipe flow that occurs thermal stratification phenomena. So, this paper models RCS and ECCS pipe arrangement and analyzes the mechanism of thermal stratification phenomena by measuring of temperature in variance with leakage flow rate in ECCS modeled pipe and Reynold number in RCS modeled pipe. Besides, results of this experiment is compared with computational analysis which is done in advance.

  • This paper describes on pressure drop in a circular pipe of refuse collecting system. The flow characteristics inside the circular pipe are analyzed by three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. In numerical analysis, an organic waste is modeled using the data obtained by site survey. Pressure drop obtained by numerical simulation is compared to the value obtained by experimental measurements for the two kinds of pipe; straight and bended type. The pressure drop obtained by numerical simulation has a good agreement with that of experiments. It is noted that the accurate prediction of pressure drop in the waste pipe is very important to determine the performance of turbo blower used in making a suction pressure in the waste pipe. Especially, the pressure drop for an organic waste is analyzed according to the mass flow rate of waste.

  • The pipes have been laid underground while the industry is developing. We have to take maintenance procedure when the pipes are cracked or ruptured. It is very difficult jop to check pipe's crack because the pipes are narrow and laid underground. Using in-pipe robot, we can check the conditions of inner section of pipes, therefore, we designed a crawler type robot to search cracked pipe. In this paper, we have made a special focus on the control of the robot using differential drive algorithm to move in curved section of pipes. The detailed design of the robot with experimental result show the effectiveness of the robot in pipe maintenance.

  • This study describes a theoretical and experimental investigation of gas wave propagation in the pipe system. Most calculations of compressible flows in the pipe have been based on the method of characteristics. This technique has propensity to truncate waves and is difficult to apply to non-perfect gas. A method that describes the application of a two-step Lax-Wendroff acheme to solution of the unsteady one-dimentional flow in the pipe was developed. Theoretical calculations using both the method of characteristics and the two-step Lax-Wendroff method are presented including a realistic model for heat transfer and friction processes. In the present work, account is taken of the nonlinear behavior. For sections of parallel pipe, an one dimensional unsteady homentropic analysis is employed, and a numerical solution is obtained with the aid of a digital computer, using the method of characteristics and two-step Lax-Wendroff method. This analysis is then combined with boundary models, based on a quasi-steady flow approach, to give a complete treatment of the flow behavior in the pipe system.

Learning Control of Pipe Cutting Robot with Magnetic Binder (자석식 자동 파이프 절단기를 위한 학습제어기)

  • In this paper, the tracking control of an automatic pipe cutting robot, called APCROM, with a magnetic binder is studied. Using magnetic force APCROM, a wheeled robot, binds itself to the pipe and executes unmanned cutting process. The gravity effect on the movement of APCROM varies as it rotates around the pipe laid in the gravitational field. In addition to the varying gravity effect other types of nonlinear disturbances including backlash in the driving system and the slip between the wheels of APCROM and the pipe also cause degradation in the cutting process. To maintain a constant velocity and consistent cutting performance, the authors adopt a repetitive learning controller (MRLC), which learns the required effort to cancel the tracking errors. An angular-position estimation method based on the MEMS-type accelerometer is also used in conjunction with MRLC to compensate the tracking error caused by slip at the wheels. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Image Processing Technique for an Automatic Inspection of the Surface Outlook of High Speed Moving Plate. (고속 이동 판재의 자동 외관 검사를 위한 영상처리)

  • A Plate type pipe is used for heat exchange in radiator of a vehicle. The pipe has several rooms through which water flows and heat is dissipated into outside . In the case that there are small holes, cracks or some scratches on the plate, the radiators lost their functions due to Leakage. This may result in overheating of engine in a car. Thus, we need to perform the entire inspection of the plate type pipe in advance before assembling the radiator. In manufacturing process of the plate type pipe, the productive speed is very high and that may be performed continuously. So, there is no room to perform the outlook inspection by typical image processing techniques. This paper proposes a new method to inspect the outlook surface of the plate type pipe automatically with high speed. Especially, the sequential processing technique of an algorithm which detects defects on the surfaces of the plate type pipe is proposed for line scan camera which captures line image. To evaluate the inspection performance, a series of experiments is performed.

  • Pipe-rack structures supporting high temperature and pressure are of great importance to ensure the safety of the operation of the plants. If some damage occurred in the pipe-rack structure, the facilities not only bring damage to the commercial property, but also result in economic losses. Specially, since pipe-rack structures are exposed to various environmental conditions, it is essential to evaluate the thermal behavior of the structure caused by environmental conditions for the appropriate design and maintenance of the pipe-rack structure. Thus, based on a selected, typical pipe-rack structure, a thermal-stress coupled analysis was conducted to evaluate the temperature distributions and thermal stresses of the structure. For this, this study accounted for the operating condition of the pipe and the effect of environmental conditions, Yeosu in South Korea and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. The results of the study showed the need for accounting for a variance in the environmental factors to evaluate the thermal behavior of the pipe-rack structure along with the working condition of pipe.
