Objective Trichotillomania is a relatively common illness whose neurobiology is poorly understood. One treatment for adult trichotillomania, n-acetyl cysteine (NAC), has antioxidative properties, as well as effects on central glutamatergic transmission. Preclinical models suggest that excessive oxidative stress may be involved in its pathophysiology. Methods Adults with trichotillomania provided a blood sample for analysis of compounds that may be influenced by oxidative stress [glutathione, angiotensin II, ferritin, iron, glucose, insulin and insulin growth factor 1 (IGF1), and hepcidin]. Participants were examined on symptom severity, disability, and impulsivity. The number of participants with out-of-reference range oxidative stress measures were compared against the null distribution. Correlations between oxidative stress markers and clinical measures were examined. Results Of 14 participants (mean age 31.2 years; 92.9% female), 35.7% (n=5) had total glutathione levels below the reference range (p=0.041). Other oxidative stress measures did not have significant proportions outside the reference ranges. Lower levels of glutathione correlated significantly with higher motor impulsiveness (Barratt Impulsiveness Scale sub-score) (r=0.97, p=0.001). Conclusion A third of patients with trichotillomania had low levels of glutathione, and lower levels of glutathione correlated significantly with higher motor impulsiveness. Because NAC is a precursor for cysteine, and cysteine is a rate limiting step for glutathione production, these results may shed light on the mechanisms through which NAC can have beneficial effects for impulsive symptoms. Confirmation of these results requires a suitable larger follow-up study, including an internal normative control group.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the addiction to highly caffeinated drinks among university students, and we investigated the relationships between smartphone addiction, depression, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), burnout, self-esteem, impulsiveness in high caffeine drink addiction risk group (high caffeine group). We also compared these mental health factors differences between the high caffeine group and the control group; and, investigated the relative risk between the independent variables of the high caffeine group. Methods: This study was conducted in Korea, from June 2015 to July 2016. A set of questionnaires was administered on 511 college students. Results: The participants who belonged to the high caffeine group were more likely to demonstrate the symptoms of ADHD and higher levels of burnout and impulsiveness. Further, the results of logistic regression analysis confirmed the association between the high caffeine group and burnout. Conclusion: These behaviors among university students addicted to highly caffeinated drinks suggests the need for timely and effective interventions for those at risk of addiction.
Objectives : Many studies have shown an association between serum lipid concentrations and psychologic characteristics. However, conflicting results have also been reported. This study was designed to find the relationship between serum lipid levels(cholesterol and triglycerides) and psychologic characteristics(impulsiveness, aggressiveness, depressiveness) in adolescents. Methods : Serum cholesterol concentration, serum triglycerides concentration, complete blood count, electrolytes, liver function test, and blood sugar level were measured by overnight fasting blood sampling and urinalysis was also conducted in 407 high school students. Impulsiveness level was measured by Barratt Impulsiveness Scale(BIS). Aggressiveness level was measured by Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory(BDHI). Depressiveness level was measured by Beck Depression Inventory(BDI). Serum cholesterol was measured by standard enzymatic assay and serum triglycerides was measured by Boehringer Mannheim method. Results : 1) Low cholesterol group(<15 percentile) were found to have significantly higher BIS score than high cholesterol group(>85 percentile) in female. Female low cholesterol group were also found to have significantly higher motor impulsivity score, a subscale of BIS, than high cholesterol group. 2) High triglycerides group(>85 percentile) were found to have significantly higher BDI score than low triglycerides group(<15 percentile) in male and female separately. Especially, male high triglycerides group were also found to have significantly higher BIS and motor impulsivity score than low triglycerides group. Conclusion : These results support the previous hypothesis that serum lipid levels(cholesterol and triglycerides) affect human psychologic characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate correlation of adolescent eating attitude and psychological factors which might influence the eating attitude such as depression, aggression and impulsiveness. The author also tried to identify relationship between adolescent eating attitude and biological factors such as serum cholesterol level and triglyceride level. Two hundred and forty one female high school students without physical disorder were selected as study subjects. For the study, Eating Attitude Test-26KA (EAT -26KA), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) -Korean version, Barrat Impulsiveness scale (BIS) -Korean version, and Buss-DurKee Hostility Inventory (BDHI) -Korean version were used. Serum cholesterol level and triglyceride level were also investigated. For the purpose of identifying factors which could influence eating attitude of adolescence, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis was done. Total score of BDHI could be most significant factor to explain eating attitude, and BDI, serum cholesterol/triglyceride level be second, third position respectively. But, BIS was not significant predicting parameter. The contributing portion of these factors to explain eating behavior was 25.9%.
This study was conducted to investigate the relationships between dietary habits and food intake and impulsiveness and aggression in the 6th grade students(boys 53, girls 37, N=100) of the elementary school in Chuncheon area. The main results are as follows. According to the survey on dietary habits and foods intake, the score of "I eat a balanced diet that consists of boiled rice, soup, and more than two side dishes" was the highest as $4.31{\pm}0.96$ while the score of "I watch TV or read a book during having a meal." was the lowest as $3.16{\pm}1.36$. The girls had better score than boys for "I eat slowly." while the boys had better score than girls for "I exercise every day."(p<0.01). Total scores of dietary habits were not significantly different between the sexes. For having fruits, girls($4.28{\pm}0.77$) ate them more frequently than boys did($3.81{\pm}1.02$) but for having soda drinks, boys($2.85{\pm}1.10$) drank more frequently than girls did($2.32{\pm}1.11$) (p<0.05). The total scores of impulsiveness were not significantly different between the sexes(boys $2.60{\pm}0.93$ vs. girls $2.57{\pm}0.99$), but those of aggression were significantly different(p<0.05) between the boys($3.01{\pm}0.79$) and the girls($2.63{\pm}0.78$). The score of total dietary habits had a negative relationship with that of aggression(r=-0279, p<0.01) but not with that of impulsiveness. The frequency of 'having milk and milk products' and all processed foods had positive relationships with the scores of impulsiveness and aggression(p<0.01). Especially, the total score of having processed foods had highly positive relationships with impulsiveness(r=0.656, p<0.01) and aggression(r=0.614, p<0.01). In conclusion, it is very important to have a good dietary habits and to reduce the frequency of having processed foods for children's good personality.
Data for this study on computer game immersion were collected from 538 1st through 6th grade students with the use of questionnaires. Instruments included the computer immersion scale, and the self-concept, social avoidance and anxiety, aggression, and impulsiveness scales. Results showed that boys were more involved in computer games than girls, and 6th graders were more immersed than 1st through 5th graders. Self-concept, social anxiety, aggression, and impulsivity differed by degree of computer game immersion. Aggression was the most powerful explanation of computer game immersion. Children higher in impulsivity and social anxiety were more involved in computer games. Children higher in self-concept were less involved in computer games.

This paper examines the effect of impulsiveness of euro on Indian stock market. In order to examine the problem, we select rupee-euro exchange rates and S&P CNX NIFTY and BSE30 SENSEX to represent stock price. We select euro as it considered as second most widely used currency at the international level after dollar. The data are collected a daily basis over a period of 3-Apr-2007 to 30-Mar-2012. The statistical and time series properties of each and every variable have examined using the conventional unit root such as ADF and PP test. Adopting a generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) and exponential GARCH (EGARCH) model, the study suggests a negative relationship between exchange rate and stock prices in India. Even though India is a major trade partner of European Union, the study couldn't find any significant statistical effect of fluctuations in Euro-rupee exchange rates on stock prices. The study also reveals that shocks to exchange rate have symmetric effect on stock prices and exchange rate fluctuations have permanent effects on stock price volatility in India.
The purpose of this research is to clarify the effect on personality of the child which may be infuenced by occupation and rearing attitude of the mother. Conclusion I. Mother with occupation does not give good effect on personality of the child, that is general Activity, Stability and Sociality. Conclusion II. Child attitude of mother effects greatly on personality of the child ; i.e. (a) good relationship between husband and wife makes good effects on the personality of the child ; and (b) rejecting attitude renders effects on the Stability of the child ; and (c) dominating attitude gives effects on Reflectiveness and Sociability of the child ; i.e. (d) overprotective attitude gives effect on Stability and Dominance of the child. Conclusion III. Whereas attitude of mother with occupation is dominaning, attitude of the mother without occupation is rejective. This difference in attitude gives effect on Reflectiveness, Dominance, Impulsiveness and Sociability of the child. Conclusion IV. Economic status of the famuly renders great effects on personality of the child, and this status effects Reflectiveness, Impulsiveness and Sociability.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the hedonistic motives experienced by consumers in the apparel buying process. We carried out in-depth interviews by 32 women living in Pusan and to examine the hedonistic motives related to the apparel buying process. It was conducted and analysed by the Spradley's developmental research method. The results showed that the hedonistic motives in apparel buying process, consisted of four components at least, such as Symbolism, Conformity, Distinction, and Impulsiveness. Symbolism represented the social-psychological aspects related to the apparel buying process, such as occupation, role, and self-image etc. Conformity in the apparel buying process was usually influenced by mass-media, and companions. Consumers had strong needs of distintion for self-actualization and self-esteem in apparel buying process. The impulsiveness in apparel buying process were related to the antecedent moods, affection, tastes, price, display, and sales person or accompanied friends. We found that the hedonistic motives in the apparel buying process connected with the emotional responses and were played an important role on the consumer satisfaction in the apparel buying process. They provide informations about hedonistic motives of apparels to consumer behavior researchers and retailers related to apparel products.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the state of ADHD disposition among college students and the impact of their self-esteem on ADHD in an effort to provide useful information on the prevention of ADHD in adults. Methods: A survey was conducted from April 4 to June 30, 2015, on 264 selected students at two different universities that were respectively located in the Daegu and Gyeongsan city. As for data analysis, a statistical package SPSS WIN 18.0 was employed. Results: The findings of the study were as follows: There were significant differences in overall ADHD disposition according to academic year, religion and academic standing, and self-esteem varied with gender, presence or absence of a friend of the opposite gender, academic year and academic standing. There were differences in inattention-memory problems scores, one of the sub factors of adult ADHD, according to presence or absence of a friend of the opposite gender, academic year and academic standing. Self-esteem had a negative correlation with inattention-memory (r=-0.463), hyperactivity(r=-0.269) and impulsiveness(r=-0.233). When a regression analysis was made to determine influential factors for inattention-memory, religion(${\beta}=0.121$), academic standing(${\beta}=-0.153$) and self-esteem(${\beta}=-0.422$) were influential. Conclusions: Adult ADHD disposition and self-esteem of college students seems to be relationship. There was a positive correlation among inattention-memory, hyperactivity and impulsiveness that were three subfactors of adult ADHD.
