The output voltage of an off-grid inverter is influenced by load current, and the voltage harmonics especially the 5th and 7th are increased with nonlinear loads. In this paper, to attenuate the output voltage harmonics of off-grid inverters with nonlinear loads nearby, a load current feedforward is proposed. It is introduced to a voltage control loop based on the Positive and Negative Sequence Harmonic Regulator (PNSHR) compensation to modify the output impedance at selective frequencies. The parameters of the PNSHR are revised with the output impedance of the off-grid inverter, which minimizes the output impedance of the off-grid inverter. Experimental results verify the proposed method, showing that the output voltage harmonics caused by nonlinear loads can be effectively suppressed.
This paper describes the improvement method of distance relaying algorithm for the underground transmission cables. Distance relaying algorithms have been mainly developing to protect the overhead transmission lines than the underground cables. If the cable systems are directly protected using distance relaying algorithm developed for overhead line without any improvement, there will be really occurred many misoperation in cable systems, because the cable systems consist of the conductor, the sheath, several grounding method, cable cover protection units(CCPUs), and grounding wire. Accordingly, the complicated phenomena are occurred, if there is a fault in cable systems. Therefore, to develope a correct distance relaying algorithm, such cable characteristics should be taken into account. This paper presents the process to improve distance relaying algorithm which is now used. REal cable system was selected to establish modeling in EMTP and ATP Draw. It was discovered through the detailed simulation during the fault that the large error existed between impedance measured at the relay point and real impedance is due to the resistance of grounding wire in each grounding method. And also compensation factor obtained by the simulation is proposed in this paper. It is proved that the factor proposed can fairly improve the accuracy of impedance at the relay point. It is evaluated that the protective ability will be really much improved, if the algorithm proposed in this paper is applied for cable systems of utility.
This paper analyzes the electrical characteristic such as the impedance(Z), inductance(L), and cable resistance($R_p$) according to the change of cable length in order to move the electrical sorting device for distinguishing between AF non-insulated track circuits from the center of railway to outside railway. The simulation is performed to check the voltage difference between the voltage of sender and the voltage of receiver and determine the possibility of the voltage restoration availability in the frequency filter band through the capacitor compensation. It was applied to the results of the simulation to the sorting devices installed in the actual field. It is proved the availability by checking the measured voltage characteristic according to the capacitor compensating change of $10{\mu}F$ and $16{\mu}F$ before, and after the length of cable is increased with 6 meters. Through this, the prevention of breakdown and damage to facilities and the prevention the safety-related accidents of line workers from the train are expected according to moving the sorting devices of AR non-insulated track circuits to outside railway.
This paper proposes a new automatic compensation network (ACN) for a system-on-chip (SoC) transceiver. We built a 5 GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) with an on-chip ACN using 0.18 ${\mu}m$ SiGe technology. This network is extremely useful for today's radio frequency (RF) integrated circuit devices in a complete RF transceiver environment. The network comprises an RF design-for-testability (DFT) circuit, capacitor mirror banks, and a digital signal processor. The RF DFT circuit consists of a test amplifier and RF peak detectors. The RF DFT circuit helps the network to provide DC output voltages, which makes the compensation network automatic. The proposed technique utilizes output DC voltage measurements and these measured values are translated into the LNA specifications such as input impedance, gain, and noise figure using the developed mathematical equations. The ACN automatically adjusts the performance of the 5 GHz LNA with the processor in the SoC transceiver when the LNA goes out of the normal range of operation. The ACN compensates abnormal operation due to unusual thermal variation or unusual process variation. The ACN is simple, inexpensive and suitable for a complete RF transceiver environment.
The human sensibility caused by the motion of an object grasped by a human operator is defined as kinesthetic sense of arm. Due to nonlinearity and ambiguity of human sense, there is no absolute standard for quantification of kinesthetic sense. In this research, a so-called 2-dimensional arm motion generator is developed to present various mechanical impedance (i.e., stiffness or damping) characteristics to a human arm. The kinesthetic words representing arm kinesthetic sense are selected and then the subject's satisfaction levels on these words for given impedance values are measured and processed by the SD method and factor analysis. In addition, the quantification method using neural network is proposed to take into account the individual difference between the mean sensibility and each subject's sensibility. Through this proposed algorithm, the sensibility of human motion described qualitatively can be converted into engineering data ensuring objectivity, reproducibility, and universality.
Distance relay is operated in calculating line impedance. It can be worked accurately in overhead line. However, power cables or combined transmission lines need compensation for calculated impedance because cable systems have sheaths, grounding wires and sheath voltage limiters(SVLs) Neuro-fuzzy can be viewed either as a fuzay system, a neural network or fuzzy neural network and it can estimate the location of the fault accurately. In this paper, fault section and fault location can be classified and estimated in neuro- fuzzy inference system and neural network.
The parallel operation system of UPS is used to increase reliability of power source at critical load. But parallel UPS system has a few defects, impedance is different from each other and circulating current occurs between UPSs, due to line impedance and parameter variation, though controlled by the same synchronization signal. According to such characteristic of parallel UPS, balanced load-sharing control is the most important technique in parallel UPS operation. In this paper, a novel power deviation compensation algorithm is proposed. it is composed of voltage controller to compensate power deviation that be calculated by using active and reactive current deviation between inverters on synchronous d-q reference frame.
This paper presents the design of an algorithm to detect, identify, and locate faults in radial distribution feeders of Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). The algorithm consists of three major steps. First, the adaptive algorithm is applied to track/estimate the system electrical parameter, i.e. current phasor, voltage phasor, and impedance. Next process, the impedance rule base is used to detect and identify the type of fault. Finally, the current compensation technique and a geographic information system (GIS) are applied to evaluate a possible fault location. The paper also shows the results from field tests of the automate fault location and illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed fault location scheme.
이때 보상전류의 생성을 위한 기준전류 검출회로는 변동하는 전원 주파수를 추적하고 적응하도록 PLL과 VCGIC(Voltage Controlled Generalized Impedance Converter)를 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 제안된 시스템이 주파수가 변동하는 분산전원의 고조파 전류를 효과적으로 제거함을 증명하였다.
