This study analyzes the characteristics of sound-absorbing materials made from forest by-products of the deciduous tree species Zelkova serrata (Z. serrata) by evaluating their sound absorption performance. Accordingly, sound-absorbing materials with varying sample thicknesses, leaf sizes, and drying conditions were fabricated. The sound absorption properties were measured using the impedance tube method via middle-type measurement tube (100 Hz-3,200 Hz). The sound absorption properties were evaluated using the average sound absorption coefficient (ASAC), which was calculated from the measured sound absorption coefficients at 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz. The ASAC value significantly improved as the leaf size increased to 0.5×0.5 cm2, 1.0×1.0 cm2, and 2.0×2.0 cm2. The ASAC values under the two drying conditions were similar. There was no significant difference in ASAC according to the leaf size under the air-dried leaf condition, with a thickness of 2.50 cm. The highest ASAC value according to the sound-absorbing material thickness was 0.47 at a thickness of 2.50 cm and leaf size of 2.0×2.0 cm2 under the air-dried leaf condition. In addition, the variation in ASAC was 0.23, indicating that the sound absorption performance according to leaf thickness was more significant than the difference in absorption properties according to leaf size. A sound absorption coefficient (SAC) of 0.4 or higher was observed across the measurable frequency band (100 Hz-3,200 Hz). Furthermore, the SAC values with respect to leaf size and thickness were close to 1 in the high-frequency range above 2,000 Hz. Therefore, it is considered that sound-absorbing materials using Z. serrata leaves are advantageous in the field of absorbing noise in a high-frequency band of 2,000 Hz or more, and it is better to manufacture a thickness of 2.50 and 2.0×2.0 cm2.

We investigated the sintering and electric properties of ZnO-1.0 at% $TeO_2$ (ZT1) and 1.0 at% Mn-doped ZT1(ZT1M1) system. $TeO_2$ itself melts at $732^{\circ}C$ in air but forms the $ZnTeO_3$ or $Zn_2Te_3O_8$ phase with ZnO as increasing temperature and therefore retards the densification of ZnO to $1000^{\circ}C$. In ZT1M1 system, also, the densification of ZnO was retarded up to $1000^{\circ}C$ and then reached > 90% of theoretical density above $1100^{\circ}C$. It was found that a good varistor characteristics(nonlinear coefficient $a{\sim}60$) were developed in ZT1M1 system sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ due to Mn which known as improving the nonlinearity of ZnO varistors. The results of C-V characteristics such as barrier height (${\Phi}_b$), donor density ($N_D$), depletion layer (W), and interface state density ($N_t$) in ZT1M1 ceramics were $1.8{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$, 1.6 V, 93 nm, and $1.7{\times}10^{12}cm^{-2}$, respectively. Also we measured the resistance and capacitance of grain boundaries with temperature using impedance and electric modulus spectroscopy. It will be discussed about the stability and homogeneity of grain boundaries using distribution parameter ($\alpha$) simulated with the Z(T)"-logf plots.
The corrosion behavior of carbon steel (N80) in carbon dioxide saturated 1%NaCl solution with and without acetic acid or acetate was investigated by weight-loss test, electrochemical methods (polarization curve, Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). The major objective is to make clear that the effect of acetic acid and acetate on the corrosion of carbon steel in $Co_2$ environments. The results indicate that either acetic acid or acetate accelerates cathodic reducing reaction, facilitates dissolution of corrosion products on carbon steel, and so promotes the corrosion rate of carbon steel in carbon dioxide saturated NaCl solution. All Nyquist Plots are consisting of a capacitive loop in high frequency region, an inductive loop in medial frequency region and a capacitive arc in low frequency region. The high frequency capacitive loop, medial frequency inductive loop and low frequency capacitive arc are corresponding to the electron transfer reaction, the formation/adsorption of intermediates and dissolution of corrosion products respectively. All arc of the measured impedance reduced with the increase of the concentration of Ac-, especially HAc. However, the same phenomenon is not notable after reducing pH value by adding HCl. HAc is a stronger proton donor and can be reduced directly by electrochemical reaction firstly. Ac- can't participate in electrochemistry reaction directly, but $Ac^-$ an hydrate easily to create HAc in carbon dioxide saturated environments. HAc is as catalyst in $Co_2$ corrosion. As a result, the corrosion rate was accelerated in the presence of acetate ion even pH value of solution increased.

This paper analyzes the electrical characteristic such as the impedance(Z), inductance(L), and cable resistance($R_p$) according to the change of cable length in order to move the electrical sorting device for distinguishing between AF non-insulated track circuits from the center of railway to outside railway. The simulation is performed to check the voltage difference between the voltage of sender and the voltage of receiver and determine the possibility of the voltage restoration availability in the frequency filter band through the capacitor compensation. It was applied to the results of the simulation to the sorting devices installed in the actual field. It is proved the availability by checking the measured voltage characteristic according to the capacitor compensating change of $10{\mu}F$ and $16{\mu}F$ before, and after the length of cable is increased with 6 meters. Through this, the prevention of breakdown and damage to facilities and the prevention the safety-related accidents of line workers from the train are expected according to moving the sorting devices of AR non-insulated track circuits to outside railway.
Background: Post-tuberculosis (TB) sequelae is a commonly encountered clinical entity, especially in high TB burden countries. This may represent chronic anatomic sequelae of previously treated TB, with frequent symptomatic presentation. This pilot study was aimed to investigate the pulmonary functions and systemic inflammatory markers in patients with post-TB sequelae (PTBS) and to compare them with post-TB without sequelae (PTBWS) participants and healthy controls. Methods: A total of 30 participants were enrolled, PTBS (n=10), PTBWS (n=10), and healthy controls (n=10). Pulmonary function tests included spirometry and measurement of airway impedance by impulse oscillometry. Serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1, transforming growth factor-β, and interferon-γ were estimated. Results: Slow vital capacity (SVC), forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), FEV1/FVC, and peak expiratory flow were significantly lower in PTBS as compared to controls. SVC and FEV1 were significantly less in PTBS as compared to PTBWS. Total airway impedance (Z5), total airway resistance (R5), central airway resistance (R20), area of reactance (Ax), and resonant frequency (Fres) were significantly higher and respiratory reactance at 5 and 20 Hz (X5, X20) were significantly lower in PTBS as compared to PTBWS. Spirometry parameters correlated with impulse oscillometry parameters in PTBS. Serum MMP-1 level was significantly higher in PTBS as compared to other groups. Conclusion: Significant pulmonary function impairment was observed in PTBS, and raised serum MMP-1 levels compared with PTBWS and healthy controls. Follow-up pulmonary function testing is recommended after treatment of TB for early diagnosis and treatment of PTBS.

A synthesized isotropic pattern antenna can be realized by arrangeing $\lambda$/ 2 dipole along each x, y, z axis. The sleeve type $\lambda$/ 2 dipole antenna is used as a basic element for a proper impedance matching at feeding point and minimum mutual coupling effect between each element at 820 MHz - 895 MHz band. The total electric field intensity radiated from the designed isotropic pattern antenna is drived from the magnetic vector potential which is produced by each sleeve $\lambda$/ 2 dipole in the far field. This total electric field intensity is inversely proportional only to distance $\gamma$from the origin of coordinates, and pattern factor variation is less than 2.1dB. The measured value of total electric field variation depending on pattern factor is less then 2.8dB, and the difference between the calculated and measured value is 0.7dB.

This paper presents a tapered slot-antenna(TSA) for optimal impulse-signal transmission in ultra-wide band(UWB). The proposed TSA provides radiates in end-fire direction, which meets an impulse-radio UWB(IR-UWB) system demands(e.g., low loss, thus less error throughout the UWB band). In order to minimize the pulse distortion, we used an wideband impedance transformer and a microstrip slotline. The pulse fidelity characteristics was evaluated with finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) analysis technique and pulse fidelity correlation equation. Approximately 93.89 % pulse fidelity was obtained between the two antennas in 0.5 m range. Additionally, derived chirp Z-transform algorithm enables us to utilize the zoom-in option on the pulse signal in few nano-seconds below. Thus, it is possible to analyze the pulse signal distortion, delay or dispersion characteristics.

This paper presents a broadband CPS-fed Yagi-Uda antenna. The antenna has a feedline structure much simpler than other Yagi-Uda antennas and it provides more design flexibility in arranging the reflector. To improve the impedance matching, a tapered CPS line is inserted between the thick and thin feedlines. The proposed antenna exhibits the bandwidth of $3.9{\sim}5.9$ GHz (|G| < -10 dB) and the gain of $6.5{\sim}8$ dBi within that bandwidth. At the center frequency of 4.9 GHz, the antenna shows the gain of 7.4 dBi, and HPBW of $98^{\circ}$ along the x-z plane and $73^{\circ}$ along the x-y plane.
Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute researchers have installed and operated magnetometers at Mt. Bohyun Observatory to measure the Earth's magnetic field variations in South Korea. We, in 2007, installed a fluxgate magnetometer (RFP-523C) to measure H, D, and Z components of the geomagnetic field. In addition, in 2009, we installed a Overhauser proton sensor to measure the absolute total magnetic field F and a three-axis magneto-impedance sensor for spectrum analysis. Currently three types of magnetometer data have been accumulated. In this paper, we provide the preliminary and the first statistical analysis using the BOH magnetometer installed at Mt. Bohyun Observatory. By superposed analysis, we find that daily variations of H, D, and Z shows similar tendency, that is, about 30 minutes before the meridian (11:28) a minimum appears and the time after about 3 hours and 30 minutes (15:28) a maximum appears. Also, a quiet interval start time (19:06) is near the sunset time, and a quiet interval end time (06:40) is near the sunrise time. From the sunset to the sunrise, the value of H has a nearly constant interval, that is, the sun affects the changes in H values. Seasonal variations show similar dependences to the sun. Local time variations show that noon region has the biggest variations and midnight region has the smallest variations. We compare the correlations between geomagnetic variations and activity indices as we expect the geomagnetic variation would contain the effects of geomagnetic activity variations. As a result, the correlation coefficient between H and Dst is the highest (r = 0.947), and other AL, AE, AU index and showed a high correlation. Therefore, the effects of geomagnetic storms and geomagnetic substorms might contribute to the geomagnetic changes significantly.

An electrochemical oxygen permeating membrane (OPM) is fabricated using Zr0.895Sc0.095Ce0.005Gd0.005O2-δ (ScCeGdZ) as the solid electrolyte and aLa0.7Sr0.3MnO3-bScCeGdZ composite (LZab, electrode) as the electrode. The crystal phase of the electrode and the microstructure of the membrane is investigated with X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The electrochemical resistance of the membrane is examined using 2-p ac impedance spectroscopy, and LZ55 shows the lowest electrode resistance among LZ82, LZ55 and LZ37. The oxygen permeation is studied with an oxygen permeation cell with a zirconia oxygen sensor. The oxygen flux of the OPM with LZ55 is nearly consistent with the theoretical value calculated from Faraday's Law below a critical current. However, it becomes saturated above the critical current due to the limit of the oxygen ionic conduction of the OPM. The OPM with LZ55 has a very high oxygen permeation flux of ~ 3.5 × 10-6 mol/㎠s in I = 1.4 A/㎠.
