  • In this paper, the crack properties fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) beams by experimental method is discussed. The major role played by the steel fiber occurs in the post-cracking zone, in which the fibers bridge across the cracked matrix. Because of its improved ability to bridging cracks, SFRC has better crack properties than that of reinforced concrete(RC). Crack properties are influenced by longitudinal reinforcement ratio, volume and type of steel fibers, strength of concrete and the stress level. Crack width and number of cracks in SFRC beams have been evaluated from experimental test data at various levels of stress for the tested beams.

  • The fire damage of building wouid effect on the safety of structure. When the reinforced concrete structure is heated by high temperature due to the fire, the structural resisting-force will be decreased. In a way, it is a requirement to use high strength concrete for high rise building. Particularly, fire resistance properties of high-strength concrete is more important than normal strength concretes. The fire outbreak of a high strength concrete by sudden temperature rise is a main problem, and causes crack by thermal stress, loading to the deterioration of the durability. In this study, normal and high strength mortar were exposed to a high temperature environment. And than fundamental data for the character change of concrete heated highly were presented by measuring compressive strength of concrete with polypropylene and vinylon fiber, before and after heating. As the results, it is proven that high strength mortar with polypropylene and vinylon fiber for prevents deterioration of durability by fiber.

  • The aims of this study were to determine mechanical properties of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under splitting tensile, flexural and compressive loading, and thus to improve the possible applications of concrete. The major factors experimentally investigated in this study were the fiber content and the length and the diameter of fibers. The major results obtained are summarized as follows : 1.The strength, strain, elastic modulus and energy obsorption capability of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under splitting tensile loading were significantly improved by increasing the fiber content or the aspect ratio. 2.The flexural strength, central deflection, and flexural toughness of steel4iber reinforced beams were significantly improved by increasing the fiber content or the aspect ratio. And flexural behavior characteristic was good at the aspect ratio of about 60 to 75. 3.The strength, strain, and energy absorption capability in compression were increased with the increase of the fiber content. These effects were not so sensitive to the aspect ratio. The energy absorption capability was improved only slightly with the increase of the fiber length. 4.The elastic modulus, transverse strains, and poisson's ratios in compression were not influenced by the fiber content. 5.The steel-fibers were considered to be appropriated as the materials covering the weakness of concrete because the mechanical properties of concrete in tension and flexure were significantly improved by steel-fiber reinforcement.
