The eggshell is a type of bio-waste which is considered hazardous to the environment. In this research, the waste eggshell is utilized as a potential filler in cementitious material. This study has measured by zeta potential to analyze the interaction between the surface of the filler and the calcium ion in the solution. Meanwhile, the effect of eggshell powder on cement hydration process has been determined by isothermal calorimeter. The results show that the surface of eggshell powder have a strong adsorption of Ca2+, and addition of the eggshell powder provides a heterogeneous nucleation site for cement, which promotes the growth of hydration products.
Various commercial shampoos were frequently prescribed for dermatologic therapy in small animal practice. Skim hydration affected by the shampoos, however, was not evaluated routinely. In order to evaluate the skin hydration for the exact prescription of shampoos method to measure skin hydration of shampoos are needed. This study was undertaken to evaluate the skin hydration effect of shampoo on canine skin using Corneometer. Five healthy dogs were applied with 7 commercial shampoos: Humilac, Sebocalm, Sebolytics, Etiderm, Benzoyl peroxide, HyLyt and Zn-7 Derm. Skin hydrations were evaluated by measurement of electrical capacitance by Corneometer. A statistically significant increase in skim hydration was found 17(p<0.05) and 77 minutes(p<0.01) after application of Humilac indicating a humidifying effect of this product. A statistically significant decrease in skin hydration was found for the Benzoyl peroxide after 77 minutes(p<0.05). No statistically significant differences between the other shampoos were found. None of the products tested had any negative effect on the skin barrier function. The Corneometer was found useful for detecting skin hydration to shampoos and considered as a simple and useful tool for prescription of various shampoos routine practice.
Hydration is the main reason for the growth of the material properties. An exact parameter to control the chemical and physical process is not the time, but the degree of hydration. Therefore, it is reasonable that development of all material properties and the formation of microstructure should be formulated in terms of degree of hydration. Mathematical formulation of degree of hydration is based on combination of reaction rate functions. The effect of moisture conditions as well as temperature on the rate of reaction is considered in the degree of hydration model. This effect is subdivided into two contributions: water shortage and water distribution. The former is associated with the effect of W/C ratio on the progress of hydration. The water needed for progress of hydration do not exist and there is not enough space for the reaction products to form. The tatter is associated with the effect of free capillary water distribution in the pore system. Physically absorption layer does not contribute to progress of hydration and only free water is available for further hydration. In this study, the effects of chemical composition of cement, W/C ratio, temperature, and moisture conditions on the degree of hydration are considered. Parameters that can be used to indicate or approximate the real degree of hydration are liberated heat of hydration, amount of chemically bound water, and chemical shrinkage, etc. Thus, the degree of heat liberation and adiabatic temperature rise could be determined by prediction of degree of hydration.
This experiment carried out in order to investigate the effect of the chemical activators for acceleration of hydration the system of Fly ash-Cao The paste was consisted of 80wt% Fly ash and 20wt% CaO with 1. 3. 5wt% of 4 activators(N{{{{ alpha _2 }}S{{{{ OMICRON _4 }}, CaC{{{{ {l }_{2 } }}, NaOH, Ca(N{{{{ OMICRON _3 {)}_{2 } }} and W/S ratio of 0.42 After curing for 1, 3, 7, 14, 28 days the paste hydration was characterized by the measurement of compressive strength XRD analysis SEM observation the combined water and the reaction amount of Ca(OH)2 determination. As a result of this ex-periment all of the system which involved Na2SO4 or NaOH had a god compressive strength. In the case of 7 days curing a system which added CaCl2 showed the highest compressive strength among all especially NaOH system showed a high increase in strength as a dosage of it increased. Hydration products were different according to activatores added. Only C-S-H was observed in NaOH system. As the reaction amount of Ca(OH)2 and combined water were increased the compressive strength increased. There were few differences in the comparision of strength between ignited loss 3.1% and loss 9.3% of fly ash.
In order to investigate the reaction in the system of anhydrite II-blast furnace slag, the paste hydration which made up with a liquid/solid ratio of 0.45 for 1, 3, 7, 14, 28days by the addition of accelerators to 10~30wt.% slag with natural gypsum calcined for 1hour at 500/$700^{\circ}C$ was studied by combined water determination, XRD, DTA, DSC and SEM. As a result of this experiment, it was found that hydration rate was faster in the system calcined at 50$0^{\circ}C$. Therefore the anhydrite was converted to calcium sulfate dihydrate in the hydration for 1day but the slag was not almost reacted. For the gypsum calcined at $700^{\circ}C$, the hydraton rate in the system of K2SO4 addition was faster than others in the earier period, but the activated effect of the system of Al2(SO4)3 addition was regarded as the highest over 3days. As the amount of slag was increased, they dydration rate was delayed and ettringite was observed in the case of K2SO4 system. However both Al2(SO4)3 and AlK(SO4)2 systems showed calcium sulfate dhydrate only as hydrated products.

This study was performed to find out how much water the cement hydration reaction need. It is real situation that it is difficult to find out the amount of chemical combined water with stoichiometric chemical reaction form. Because several variation occurred during hydration reaction it's not easy to divide water which used at cement paste mixture. In this study high temperature(105$^{\circ}C$) dry method was used to divide evaporable water and non-evaporable water. The last is combined water chemically and some free water absorbed to products of hydration physically. The test was processed with variation of water cement ratio from 10% to 45% with 5% intervals. The weight of cement paste specimens were measured after dry for 72hours at each checking time(0.5, 1, 3, 5, 10, 24, 48, 72, 168hour). In this study some conclusions such as follows were derived. Firstly, Pure combined water contents required at cement hydration result in 23.3percent of the weight of cement. Secondly, The sufficient mixing water needed to fully hydrated cement result in about 40∼45percent of weight of cement. That is, gel pores water could be about 16.7∼21.7percent of weight of cement.
Concrete in water environment is easily subjected to the attack of leaching, which causes its mechanical reduction and durability deterioration, and the key to improving the leaching resistance of concrete is to increase the compaction of its microstructure formed by the curing. This paper performs a numerical investigation on the intrinsic relationship between microstructures formed by the hydration of cement and slag and leaching resistance of concrete in water environment. Firstly, a shrinking-core hydration model of blended cement and slag is presented, in which the interaction of hydration process of cement and slag is considered and the microstructure composition is characterized by the hydration products, solution composition and pore structure. Secondly, based on Fick's law and mass conservation law, a leaching model of hardened paste is proposed, in which the multi-species ionic diffusion equation and modified Gérard model are established, and the model is numerically solved by applying the finite difference method. Finally, two models are combined by microstructure composition to form an integrated curing-leaching model, and it is used to investigate the relationship between microstructure composition and leaching resistance of slag-blended cement pastes.

This study was to investigate the reduction of hydration heat by utilizing industrial by-products such as BFS(Blast Furnace Slag). DM(Dredged Mud) was used by parent soil and Ordinary portland cement was used by cementing material. Additive added to reduce the heat of hydration was BFS. From the results of experiment, hydration heat was decreased in accordance with the addition of BFS. The reason was that surface of BFS coated with aluminosulfate. Initial uniaxial strength was low, neither was not long term uniaxial strength. It was concluded that silica rich layer($H_2SiO_4^{4-}$) in solid phase early in the reaction of hydration was difficultly moved in liquid phase due to the increase of ZP(Zeta Potential). However, the ZP in the later hydration was decreased due to the acceleration of mobility of silica rich layer($H_2SiO_4^{4-}$). Therefore, long term physical properties such as uniaxial strength revealed.
This study aims to produce dolomitic hydraulic lime (D-NHL) using domestic low grade dolomitic limestone and to determine the effect of adding blast furnace slag (BFS) and gypsum as part of an investigation of the hydration properties of D-NHL to increase the mechanical properties. The main mineral phases of D-NHL as a hydraulic lime binder were $Ca(OH)_2$, $Mg(OH)_2$, $C_2S$, $C_3S$, and MgO residues. $Ca(OH)_2$ transformed into $CaCO_3$ in D-NHL paste over the period of 28 days, but the carbonation of $Mg(OH)_2$ and the hydration of $C_2S$ did not occur until hydration, after 28 days. Through an investigation of the hydration properties of D-NHL pastes mixed with BFS and gypsum, Al-based compounds such as calcium aluminate hydrates ($C_4AH_{13}$) and ettringite were observed at early hydration time. The compressive strength was improved due to the increased quantities of these hydration products. These results show that good performance results from the application of dolomitic hydraulic lime and that a high value product can be made from domestic waste materials.
High strength concrete is being used increasingly in mass structure projects. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of temperature during mixing, placing and curing on the strength development, hydration products and pore structures of high strength concrete in mass structures. The experiments were conducted with two different model walls, viz.: 1.5 m and 0.3 m under typical summer and winter weather conditions. The final part of this study deal with the clarification of the relationship between the long-term strength loss and the microstructure of the high strength concrete at high temperatures. Test results indicated that high elevated temperatures in mass concrete structures significantly accelerate the strength development of concrete at the early ages, while the long-term strength development is decreased. The long-term strength loss is caused by the decomposition of ettringite and increased the total porosity and amount of small pores.
