In this paper, the submarine model, called DARPA SUBOFF model, has been numerically analyzed to investigate the aerodynamic forces variation in terms of angle of attacks and yaw angles. The SUBOFF model is consisted of the three parts : axisymmetric body, fairwater, and four symmetric stern appendages. Three dimensional unsteady incompressible Wavier-Stokes equation was used on curvilinear multi-block grid system. To validate the present code, the SUBOFF tare hull and an ellipsoid at angle of attacks of $10^{\circ}\;and\;30^{\circ}$ were simulated and a good agreement with experiments was obtained. After the code validation, the flows over SUBOFF model were simulated at three different angle of attacks and yaw angles. The variation of aerodynamic forces in terms of angle of attack and yaw angle were calculated. Also, to understand the flow features around a submarine with variation of yaw and attack angle, the pressure contours and streamlines were plotted.

In this paper the independence axiom, one of two principal axioms of axiomatic design theory, is applied to the leveling system development as an design criteria. After functional requirements and corresponding design parameters constitute an initial design matrix for the leveling system, sequence, which is compatible with the independence axiom, of the design parameters of the design matrix is determined and independent components of block leveling system are revealed. As a result of axiomatic design, system configuration related to the design sequence is developed. In order to verify and validate the developed block leveling system, test with real hull block leveling work in site by using total station which is used to acquire three dimensional coordinate of target point is performed. Comparison with measured data and output data from the block leveling system shows the system accuracy is under 1 mm so that the developed system is verified and validated to be used in site.

Overlap, excessive wide gaps, and errors between blocks during erection process increases cost and man-hour. In this paper, a system to simulate the assembly process is suggested and a plane block assembly of welding deformation with gravity is simulated in consideration of assembly order, deformations and errors occurring in the cutting and forming processes are not considered and welding deformations are acquired by equivalent stiffness and load method from experiments and hull double bottom plane block is assembled on a assembly order by panel method. It is certified that according to the order of assembly, intermediate product shape affects rigidity which affects welding deformations. Assembly order must be considered in the assembly process. It is certified that the gravity has important role in the assembly process.
We examine the diffusion layers of some block ciphers referred to as substitution-permutation networks. We investigate the practical and provable security of these diffusion layers against differential and linear cryptanalysis. First, in terms of practical security, we show that the minimum number of differentially active S-boxes and that of linearly active S-boxes are generally not identical and propose some special conditions in which those are identical. We also study the optimal diffusion effect for some diffusion layers according to their constraints. Second, we obtain the results that the consecutive two rounds of SPN structure provide provable security against differential and linear cryptanalysis, i.e., we prove that the probability of each differential (resp. linear hull) of the consecutive two rounds of SPN structure with a maximal diffusion layer is bounded by $p^n(resp.q^n)$ and that of each differential (resp. linear hull) of the SDS function with a semi-maximal diffusion layer is bounded by $p^{n-1}(resp. q^{n-1})$, where p and q are maximum differential and linear probabilities of the substitution layer, respectively.

It is very important to understand the flow characteristics for design of the hull forms with better resistance and propulsive performance. The experimental results explicating the local flow characteristics are also invaluable for validation of the CFD codes for both inviscid and viscous flow calculations. This paper describes the techniques and equipment developed for the measurement of wave pattern on the free surface and local mean velocity fields around the stern of the modern container ship with bow and stern bulbs in KRISO towing tank. The results contained in this paper can provide the valuable information on the flow characteristics of the modern commercial hull form of small block coefficient with high speed.

There are two ways of conventional thermal distortion analysis. One is the thermal elasto-plastic analysis and the other is the equivalent forces method based on inherent strain. The former needs exorbitant analysis time, while the latter cannot obtain results of stress field and it needs much time consumption with loads modeling on curved plates. Such faults in two methods have made difficulties in thermal distortion analysis of a large structure like ship hull. In order to solve them, new kind of thermal distortion analysis method was developed. We devised that the inherent strains was used as direct input factors in forms of boundary conditions. It was embodied by using thermal expansion coefficient in commercial code. We used the pre-calculated inherent strain as thermal expansion coefficient, and endowed nodes with imaginary temperatures. This method was already adopted at hull block welding distortion analysis which was considered as impossible, and gave productive results such as reduction of work time in the dry dock.

The viscous free surface flow around KRISO container ship (KCS) is computed using the finite volume based multi block RANS code, WAVIS developed at KRISO. The free surface is captured with the Level-Set method and the realizable k-$\varepsilon$ model is employed for turbulence closure. The computations are carried out at model scale. For accurate free surface solution and its stable convergence the computations are performed with a suitable grid refinement around the free surface by applying an implicit discretization method based on a finite volume method to the Level-Set formulation. In all computational cases the numerical results agree well with experimental measurements.
The large-eddy simulation(LES) technique, based an a message passing interface method(MPI), was applied to investigate the turbulent flaw phenomena around a ship. The Smagorinski model was used in the present LES simulation to simulate the turbulent flaw around a ship. The SPMD(sidsngle program multiple data) technique was used for parallelization of the program using MPI. All computations were performed an a 24-node PC cluster parallel machine, composed of 2.6 GHz CPU, which had been installed in the Advanced Ship Engineering Research Center(ASERC). Numerical simulations were performed for the Wigley hull, and the Series 60 hull(CB=0.6) using 1/4-, 1/2-, 1- and 2-million grid systems and the computational results had been compared to the experimental ones.

Generally, in shipbuilding, large curved block components which have large curvature radius along various directions are used for huge ships such as LPG-vessel and oil tanker ships. Lots of the blocks are manufactured by line heating method which uses a heat source to bend the thick plate materials. The conventional forming process is entirely dependent on the experience of experts because it is done by manual method thus the curvatures and qualities are not uniform even for same part. However, it is hard to adopt the press forming process using die tool sets fur the manufacturing because of the characteristics of the industry that based on the small quantity and variety in the products. In this study, flexible forming technology using numbers of punches is investigated based on the simulation to substitute for the conventional forming method. Thick plate material model was applied to the proposed process to verify the feasibility for hull structure block forming process. The press forming processes were simulated by adopting the explicit-to-implicit sequential solution. Moreover, experiment of the flexible forming process was also conducted and its results were compared with that of simulation.
It has been used many kinds of horizontal butt-welding methods at block-to-block erection stage in shipbuilding companies. For examples, some companies use conventional FCA W process with one side or both sides groove joint welding, others use carriage with torch holder type mechanized welding method. Although lots of efforts were done until now, some problems in quality and productivity still remain in ship's hull welding. In this study, we have attempted to raise productivity and quality on horizontal position of welding with following 3 items. 1) Prepare groove condition with no root gap for making easy fit-up work. 2) Develop improved MAG (100% $CO_2$ gas shielding) welding process with solid wire for making sound root bead from one side. 3) Develop and apply quite new automatic welding carriage. The stability of new welding process was confirmed by conducting mechanical tests of weldments to verify the soundness of weldments.
