가사노동과 시강노동간 관계에 대한 동시적 분석 (A Simultaneous Analysis on the Relationship Between Housework and Market Work)

  • Researchers have largely overlooked the direct effects of household responsibil-ities on earnings in stead focusing attention the effect of woman's employment on the division of household labor or on family life. Given that a substantial proportion of married women already work outside the home and their numbers are likely to be increae to some extent those concerned with the well-being of employed-married women and of their households may focus their attention on how best to provide good policy to manage woman's dual roles. The purposes of the study are as follows; 1) To find out factors which affect women's housework time. 2) To examine the relationship between housework and market work. Data are obtained from 259 households with employed-married women living in Seoul. The results of this study are as follows: 1) women's wages are reduced by time spent on housework. Women's housework time is insignificantly related to women's wages. 2) women's occupation statues is signific ntly positively related to their wages. 3)women's age and other family income are generally negatively related to their housework time,. The results of this study indicate that housework has a direct effect on wages by reducing the amount of energy and efforts available for market work lowering economic status of women.

맞벌이 부부의 일-가족 부정적 전이에 영향을 미치는 가족 및 직업관련 변수 (The Influences of Variables Related to Family and Employment on Work-Family Negative Spillover in Dual-Earner Couples)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of variables related to family and employment on work-family negative spillover. The subjects of this study were 570 dual-earner with children. The research tool was questionnaires. For data analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach ${\alpha}$, and multiple regression were performed. The main results of this study were as following. First, among variables related to family, spouse support, parental satisfaction, marital satisfaction, perceived fairness in the division of household labor, daily housework hour and family strengths had an influence on $work{\rightarrow}family$ negative spillover in wives, and weekends housework hour, perceived fairness in the division of household labor, perception of the gender role, and satisfaction of the division in household labor had an influence on $work{\rightarrow}family$ negative spillover in husband. Second, among variables related to family, parental satisfaction, number of children influence on $family{\rightarrow}work$ negative spillover in wives, and spouse support, parental satisfaction, satisfaction of the division in household labor, marital satisfaction, and perception of the gender role had an influence on $family{\rightarrow}work$ negative spillover in husband. Third, among variables related to employment, support from workplace, weekly working hour, monthly income, and job satisfaction had an influence on $work{\rightarrow}family$ negative spillover in wives, and support from workplace, monthly income, household income, and weekly working hour had an influence on $work{\rightarrow}family$ negative spillover in husband. Forth, among variables related to employment, support from workplace in wives, and job satisfaction in husband had an influence on $family{\rightarrow}work$ negative spillover. To conclude, there was some difference in the variables influencing $work{\rightarrow}family$, $family{\rightarrow}work$ negative spillover between wife and husband. So, We have to take this difference into consideration in establishing work-family life balance policies.

확대된 생산개념를 적용한 가계생산의 부가가치산정 (Estimation on the Total Added Value of Household Production : The Extended Concept of Production from Non-SNA)

  • The purpose of this paper is to prepare a satellite account of the household sector that is reflected in the current national income account by approving the economic activities of unpaid household labor as production activity and estimating its value. The study produced three results. First, as different methods of evaluation can be useful according to different study goals or the contents of related policies, it is unreasonable to present a single result for estimating unpaid household labor. This study, therefore, presented the values of housework based on 5 methods, ranging from 124 to 150 trillion won. Second, to input the added value of household production from the fixed capital (household durable goods), this study adopted the declining balance method used in the Korea National Statistical Office. As a result, the total consumption of fixed capital was estimated at approximately 18.8 trillion won. Third, the total added value of unpaid household labor was estimated to range from 143 to 169 trillion wens. The amount is a production value excluded from the SNA which needs to be formed as a separate household satellite account. The ratio of this total value added was 30-35.4 percents to the 1999 GDP in Korea(477 trillion wens).

가사노동의 변화: 전통사회에서 산업사회로 (The Changes from the Traditional Society to the ndustrial Society in Housework)

  • This study investigated the changes that occurred in housework from the traditional socie쇼 focused on the Yi Dynasty to the industrial society in Korea using the methods of historical research. The changes that occurred in housework had two principal effects. The first was to integrate the work of servants and children to the work of women. In the Yi Dynasty the servants called Nobi were entrusted with the hard housework and the children from their earliest dys assisted women in the house. The second was markedly to increase the productivity of the average housewife. In the period of industrialization the household technology might have eliminated the labor of housewives but housewives took the responsibility of almost all the processes in housework.

주부의 요구賃金 결정요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reservation Wage of Housewife)

  • This study attempts to apply its result to decision whether housewives are in the labor market or not by investigating the level of reservation wage of them and the influencing factors on it. The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects by identifying , on the basis of theoretical models, the factors that influence reservation wage, and to predict future state of female employment. 1) The level of reservation wage of housewives showed significant differences by husband's income, household asset, housewife's education level, housewife's age, number of children division of husband in household labor, and by three marketization of housework. 2) The variables which affected reservation wage of housewife independently had influence on it in the following order: Husband's income, education level, age affect positively reservation wage of housewife, and a negative relation has been found between division of husband, level of commodity substitution and reservation wage of housewife. 3) Husband's income, housewife's education level, housewife's age, division of husband in household labor, level of commodity substitution give direct effects on reservation wage of housewife. Education level, age, number of children and family type influenced reservation wage of housewife through level of commodity substitution indirectly.

유급노동 시간대 비동기화가 맞벌이 부부의 가사분업에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Paid Work Time Desynchronization on Dual-Earner Couples' Division of Household Labor)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether paid work time desynchronization affected housework time desynchronization. Time slot data from the Korean Time Use Survey data from 2014 was analyzed. This study included 1,475 married couples aged 20 to 59. They were dual-earner couples, heterosexual couples, and both partners worked during the day, either durong the week or on the weekend. The data was analyzed by the following four groups: weekday-husband, weekday-wife, and weekend-husband, weekend-wife. The results demonstrated that as the desynchronization of paid work increased, the desynchronization of time spent on housework in the weekday-husband and weekend-husband groups also increased. Second, the amount of leisure time did not affect the desynchronization of time spent on housework. Lastly, the amount of time that one person spent on housework increased the housework time desynchronization level. In addition, if the family had children who attended primary, middle, or high school-mothers in the weekday-wife group completed more housework. These results demonstrated that paid work time desynchronization might be a way to decrease the amount of time that dual-earner wives' spent housework.

남편의 가사노동과 자녀돌봄 분담 유형별 관련요인 및 부부의 가사분담만족도: 맞벌이 부부와 비맞벌이 부부 비교 (How satisfied are they with husbands' sharing of domestic labor? Comparing couples from single-earner and dual-earner households)

  • Objectives: Do husbands with working wives share domestic labor more equally than husbands with unemployed housewives? Is the husband's contribution sufficient enough to satisfy his wife? These questions have long inspired many researchers to find ways to more accurately estimate husband's domestic contributions and narrow the emotional gap following the different threshold of satisfaction within couples, but not without some limits. This study attempted to figure out an answer to the above-mentioned subject by using time diaries of Korean married couples with a preschooler as their first-born child and relying on the typology of husbands' sharing of housework and childcare, which allowed me to overcome some limitations of prior research. Method: I analyzed a total of 1,716 diaries of 858 married couples from 2014 Korea Time Use Survey with descriptive statistics, t-test, cluster analysis, and multinomial logit. Results: Analytic results showed that husbands in dual-earner households did share domestic labor more equally than husbands in single-earner households, but there were different types of husband's contribution depending on time they spent in housework and childcare. While more than half of husbands with employed wives shared more or less than ten percent of domestic labor, the rest were divided into one group of husbands who shared both housework and childcare more heavily and evenly, and another group who were mainly involved in childcare duties. It is interesting that husbands who made the least contributions to domestic labor were not the ones with the lowest level of satisfaction with their sharing of household labor, whereas their wives were deeply dissatisfied, leading to a huge emotional gap within couples. Conclusion: Identifying factors associated with the three different types allowed me to find a point of intervention to narrow the emotional gap that is likely to harm the marital relationship if left unattended to.

동아시아 기혼여성의 성별분업에 관한 태도와 실천: 한국, 일본, 대만 비교 연구 (Attitudes and Practices on the Gender Division of Household Labor in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan)

  • 이 글은 여성의 경제활동 참여 증가를 통해 근대적 성별분업이 도전받고 있음에도 불구하고 가족 내 성 평등이 지체되는 현실에 주목하고, 한국, 일본, 대만 등 동아시아 3개국 여성들의 성 평등의식과 현실 간의 불일치를 분석하고자 하였다. 이에 EASS 자료를 바탕으로 동아시아 여성들의 연령, 교육기간, 가구소득, 성별분업에 대한 태도, 부부 각각의 노동시간, 가족지원망이 가사분담에 미치는 영향력의 차이를 분석하고, 각 국가별 특성을 살피고자 하였다. 분석 결과 한국과 대만은 성별분업에 대한 보수적 성향에도 불구하고 남성들의 실질적 가사부담률이 높게 나타났으며, 반면 일본의 경우 여성들의 진보적 태도에도 불구하고 실제 가사부담률이 높게 나타났다. 이러한 차이는 대만, 한국과 일본 여성들의 평균 노동시간에 기인하는데, 한국과 대만 여성들의 경우 전일제 노동에 종사하는 경우가 많아 상대적으로 가사 노동시간을 줄이는데 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 대만은 가족 특성이, 한국은 여성경제활동의 성격이 가사부담률에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 3세대 동거가구의 비율이 높은 대만은 부모로부터의 돌봄 지원이 가사 부담을 줄이는데 기여하며, 한국에서는 여성의 교육기간이 길수록 가사부담률이 증가하는 경향을 보임으로써 고학력 여성의 상대적으로 낮은 경제활동 참여가 가사노동에서의 협상력 약화에 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 글에서는 가사분담에 영향을 미치는 요인으로서 개인적 요인뿐 아니라 노동시장 성격이나 구조, 가족 형태 등 제도적 요인이 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인함으로써, 향후 성별분업 연구에서 개인과 부부의 특성뿐 아니라 거시적 요인에 대한 요인 분석이 필요함을 제안하였다.

가사노동 가치평가를 위한 기초적 분석 (The Basic Analysis for Estimating the Value of Household Work)

  • This study is the basic step of including the economical value of household labor into the existing GDP. Therefore this study analyzes statistical data; $\mathbb{\ulcorner}$Economical Active Population Survey$\mathbb{\lrcorner}$, $\mathbb{\ulcorner}$Time Used Survey$\mathbb{\lrcorner}$, $\mathbb{\ulcorner}$Basic Wage Structural Survey$\mathbb{\lrcorner}$, and $\mathbb{\ulcorner}$City Household Survey$\mathbb{\lrcorner}$ for that step and will help people to reconsider the importance of the economical value household work. Economical Active Population Survey classifies housework as economically nonoproductive activity Time Use Survey does not have an clear classification for action. Basic Wage Structural Survey must give subdividable information on wage. City Household Survey should include more details and more data of household durables.

한국 여성과 남성의 세대별 가사노동시간의 변화(1999-2019) : 가정관리 및 가족돌봄 시간을 중심으로 (Trends in the Household Labor Time of Korean Adults by Gender and Generation over the Last 20 Years (1999-2019))

  • 가정관리와 가족돌봄을 하위개념으로 하는 가사노동은 우리의 일상생활에서 중요한 축을 형성한다. 본 연구는 '일-생활 균형'이 중시되는 최근 한국사회에서 일과 생활의 측면에서 나타난 변화를 일과 생활의 특성을 모두 포함하는 가사노동을 중심으로 규명하기 위하여 5년 단위의 통계청 생활시간조사(1999-2019)의 시간일지와 질문지조사 자료를 사용하여 평일과 주말 각각 가사노동시간(가정관리/가족돌봄)의 사용량과 참여율을 성별, 세대별 변화를 중심으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성인 전체 집단의 평일 가사노동시간은 2019년 여성이 남성의 3.8배에 이르나, 지난 20년간 여성의 평일 가사노동시간은 가정관리에서 32분, 가족돌봄에서 13분 감소하여 총 45분 감소한 반면, 남성의 경우 가정관리에 서 19분, 가족돌봄에서 1분 미만으로 증가하여 약 19분 증가하였다. 가사노동 참여율은 여성은 지속하여 높게 유지된 반면, 남성은 46%에서 63%로 증가 추세를 보였다. 남성의 시간사용이 증가한 가정관리영역은 음식준비, 청소 및 정리순이었다. 둘째, 세대별로 보면, 청년세대의 가사노동시간은 20년 동안 여성의 경우 66분 감소한 반면, 남성은 15분 증가하였다. 청년여성의 경우 80%가 가사노동에 참여하였으나 약간 감소추세가 나타난 반면, 청년남성의 참여율은 45%에서 59%로 증가하였다. 20년 전보다 청년여성은 대부분의 가정관리에서 시간을 덜 사용하고 미성년가구원돌봄 영역에서만 약간의 증가를보인 반면, 청년남성은 가정관리와 가족돌봄 두 영역 모두 시간을 더 사용하였다. 중년세대 역시 청년세대와 마찬가지로 가사노동시간과 참여율에서 여성은 감소하고 남성은 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 중년남성은 20년 전보다 음식준비에 8분을, 미성년가구원돌봄에 2분을 더 사용하였다. 노년세대의 경우에는 다른 세대와 달리, 여성과 남성 모두 가사노동시간이 각각 5분, 18분의 증가하였고, 참여율도 여성과 남성 모두 증가하였다. 이러한 가사노동시간사용의 성별, 세대별 변화를 토대로 하여 향후 한국사회의 일상생활에 대한 이론적, 실천적 함의를 제시하고, 여전히 불평등하지만 지난 20년간 그 차이가 점차 좁혀지는 성차와 더불어, 전 생애주기에 걸쳐 가사노동시간 사용에서 나타나는 세대별 변화를 이해함으로써 성별, 세대별 건강가정지원센터의 프로그램 개발에 대한 방향성을 논의하였다.
