With a view to utilizing effectively fish skin wastes from marine manufactory, a gelatin solution extracted from yellowfin sole skin was fractionated by precipitation with ethanol, and then the functional and physico-chemical properties for the fractionated gelatin were determined. Ethanol was added up to 50% of ethanol content to a gelatin solution extracted from yellowfin sole skin, then the mixture was left to stand at $0^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours. Finally, the precipitates were dried by hot-air ($40^{\circ}C$). The gel strength and melting point of a 10% gel of gelatin prepared from yellowfin sole skin by precipitation with ethanol has 322.4g and $23.3^{\circ}C$, respectively. The physico-chemical properties of the ethanol treated fish skin gelatin were superior to those of fish skin gelatin prepared without ethanol treatment. Besides, the functional properties of the ethanol treated gelatin were lower in solubility and higher in water holding capacity, oil binding capacity, emulsifying activity, emulsifying stability, foam expansion and foam stability than those of pork skin gelatin sold on market as well as gelatin prepared without ethanol treatment. It may be concluded, from these results, that the fish skin gelatin prepared by precipitation with ethanol can be effectively utilized as a human food by improving the functional properties.
Phosphorescent PET/liquid color films and phosphorescent PET/disperse dyes films were prepared by melt casting method using Hot press. Then, weight ratios and exhaustion percent of films were 0.7, 1.2, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.3 wt.%. The effects of L/C and D/D contents(wt.%) of films on the thermal properties, crystal structure, H(%), brightness$(mcd/mm^2)$, morphology, and tensile properties were investigated by means of DSC and WAXD, etc. It was found that the melting temperature and crystalline diffraction peaks were not changes with increasing the liquid color contents and disperse dyes exhaustion. Also, in case of using liquid color to phosphorescent PET film, the H(%) and brightness$(mcd/mm^2)$ value were superior to phos.PET/disperse dyes film. The tensile strength and the tensile modulus were decreased with increasing the contents of liquid color and exhaustion of disperse dyes in the phosphorescent PET film. Also, the elongation at break was increased with increasing the contents of liquid color and exhaustion of disperse dyes in the phosphorescent PET film.
Al-Zn-Mg alloys, being high strength aluminum alloys, have attracted attention as a material of automobile parts that require higher mechanical properties and lightness. Automobile parts with complex shapes are manufactured by low-priced casting method, but Al-Zn-Mg alloys are difficult to cast because of its poor hot cracking, feeding, and fluidity. Thus fluidity experiments on Al-Zn-Mg alloys were conducted for the castability evaluation. The effects of Mg and Zn, representative elements of Al-Zn-Mg alloys, on fluidity were observed. Spiral mold was used for fluidity experiments and the lengths of solidified specimens were measured after melting and gravity casting. Correlation between microstructures and fluidity length based on the alloy composition was considered. According to the experimental results, as the amount of Mg and Zn increased, fluidity decreased. Also, it was confirmed that fluidity change by the variation of Mg composition was greater than that of Zn.
The effect of the Mo addition on the high temperature creep properties of the 9Cr-3W steel was also evaluated. Two experimental steels, (9Cr-3W and 9Cr-3W-0.5Mo), were prepared using a vacuum induction melting process, followed by hot rolling and heat treatment processes. Three types of precipitates, ($M_{23}C_6$, Nb-rich MX and V-rich MX) were observed in a typical tempered martensitic matrix. Significant effects of the Mo addition on the tensile properties were not observed. However, the creep properties at $650^{\circ}C$ under applied stresses of 140 and 150 MPa were considerably enhanced by the Mo addition. The microstructural observation after the creep test indicated that the addition of Mo could function to retain the recovery of the martensitic matrix, thus resulting in the enhanced creep properties of the 9Cr-3W-0.5Mo steel. Furthermore coarsening of the $M_{23}C_6$ carbides and formation of Laves phases were observed in both samples after the creep tests.

Plastics are one of difficult materials for recycling due to their characteristics in use. Recycling ratio of waste plastics was around 40% in last year in Japan, which includes energy recovery. Feed stock recycling and mechanical recycling are not easy because of additives in commercial plastics. Then, pyrolysis treatments have been done to recovery energy. Although plastics are easy to fire, complete combustion of them is not easy if anti-firing agents are added especially. Therefore, researches on pyrolysis or combustion behaviors of plastics containing additives are important from a view point recycling of plastics. Direct observation of popular plastics like polystyrene (PS), polycarbonate (PC), polyphenyle ether (PPE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to investigate their pyrolysis behaviors in the present study. In case of PS, melting and gas evolution started at 9$0^{\circ}C$ and 39$0^{\circ}C$ respectively. And combustion finished at 445$^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, more than $600^{\circ}C$ and sufficient oxygen are required for complete combustion of PC and PPE.
This paper presents the interface bonding characteristics between a phosphor bronze and a steel plate for pin-bush bearings. The pin-bush bearing is an important component in which is used to reduce a friction loss and a wear against the piston pin. The pin-bush bearing is manufactured by hot-pressing a phosphor bronze and a back metal of a steel plate. This paper investigated the bonding interface characteristics in which is manufactured by melting a copper based bronze and a steel plate. The hardness from the inner surface of a bronze to the outer one of steel has been measured using a Vickers hardness tester. The experimental results show that the hardness of a bronze is superior to that of the conventional bronze and the transient hardness of pin-bush bearings is gradually increasing to the hardness of the steel back metal. This means that the bonding interface zone of pin-bush bearings may be fabricated by defusing a bronze to the steel plate due to a density difference between two materials.
Two flavons, which are a new flavon (the Authors are going to call it "CLEMATISIN") and a yellow crystalline flavon, are isolated from leaves of Clematis brachura Maxim. Clamatisin : A colorless needle crystal which has a Slightly sweet taste, mp 225 .deg.C (decomp). It is positive (Cherry red) for the Mg-HCl(Hg) reaction and is positive (purple) for the $FeCL_{3}$ reagent. It is soluble easily in methanol, ether, acetone, prydine, ethylacetate, hot water and alkali-solutions. It is soluble slightly in cold water and is insoluble in chloroform, benzene and toluence. According to the results of elementry analysis and molecular weight determination the formula of clematisin agrees with $C_{18}H_{18}O_{7}$ when dried at $80^{\circ}C$, crystalline clematisin (from water) contains one molecule of crystalline water. The following derivatives are prepared ; Clematisin-oxim; a colorless needle crystal, mp 215-216 .deg.C, Clematisin methylate; prepared by diazomethan. mp 191-$192^{\circ}C$ a colorless needle crystal. Acethylmethylate; a colorless powder, It is not sharp in melting point and melts at approximately $215^{\circ}C$, Yellow Crystalline Flavon; mp 285-$286^{\circ}C$ (dexo-mp.), yellow needle crystal. It has a slightly sweet teste and shows positive reaction Acetate; a colorless needle crystal, mp $168^{\circ}C$.
The titanium $diboride(TiB_2)$ has high strength(750MPa), high melting point $(3225^{\circ}C)\;and\;10\%$ IACS electrical conductivity. On this account, the dispersion hardening $Cu-TiB_2$ composites(MMCs) are a promising candidate for applications as electrical contact materials. MMCs for electrical contact materials can reduce material cost and resource consumption caused by wear, due to its good mechanical and electrical property. In this study, we attempt to prepare MMCs with various volume fraction and particle size of $TiB_2$ by means of hot extruded and cold drawn process. Dry sliding wear tests were performed on a pin-on-disk type wear tester, sliding against SM45C under the different applied loads. After wear testing, the microstructures of the worn surfaces were observed by SEM and the microhardnesses of the subsurface zone were measured.
