Conceptual Study of the Future Holonic Weapon System (미래전장 홀로닉 무기체계 개념)

  • The concept of Holon was suggested by A. Koestler in his paper(1967) "The Ghost in the Machine." It became one of the central concept of the Intelligent Manufacturing System. In this paper, a new system concept: Holonic Weapon System was introduced. HWS has the advantages of the holonic system and the system integration technique so that the future unmanned combat system should consider this concept.

  • Holonic manufacturing systems have been recently presented to meet the various needs of customer rapidly. Holonic manufacturing systems consist of several holons which may perform decision making for the achievement of their objectives. Holonic manufacturing systems are characterized by cooperation and negotiation among holons. The problem of conflict can be occurred during communication between holons. Then the negotiation is required for the holons. This paper deals with a mathematical model for the mediation of negotiation between holons in the holonic manufacturing systems. In this paper an evaluation function for mediation is modeled using the utility function.

  • 최근 holonic path, holonic management, holonic innovation이라는 용어가 눈에띄게 되었다. holonic, 이 단어는 영어사전을 들쳐도 발견이 쉽지 않다. 그 까닭은 이 단어가 holon이라는 어구에서 유래된 것이며, 영국의 작가이자 과학평론가였던 아터 (Arthur) 게스토가 만든 조어이기 때문이다. Hungary 태생인 Arthur는 Wien 대학공학부 에서 물리학을 공부한후, 영국에 귀화, 4 년전 1982년 부인과 같이 자살을 하여 화제를 일으킨 유명한 소설가이자 과학평론가이다. holon이라는 조어가 처음 사용된 것은 그의 저서<기계속의 유령>에서 인데, 그는 그의 저서에서 holon의 어원을 다음과 같이 설명하고 있다. 이라고. 그래서 holon이라는 단어는 그리스어 <전체>를 뜻하는 holois와 개체 또는 부분을 뜻하는 on을 합성시켜 만든 조어 라는 것이다. 최근의 신어 영어사전을 보면 holon보다 큰 전체의 일부를 구성하는 완전체, 또는 자율적인 존재(실체), 윤곽이 확실한 존재 (물)라고 풀이되고 있다.

  • A mass production system was implemented to reduce a manufacturing cost in a way of copying with a strong world market competition. However customer's demands are changing so rapidly and the mass production system is no longer competitive to meet the demands. FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) has been introduced as a replacement for the mass production system, but it still does not meet system's requirements. A new manufacturing system, called a holonic manufacturing system (HMS), is emerging. This paper is giving a first approach of a HMS for a multirobot cooperative process.

  • Holonic manufacturing system is a new approachto the organization and architecture of decentralized, autonomous and cooperative manufacturing system. The new paradigm combines the concepts of hierarchical systems and the integration of autonomous elements in distributed system. Today's scheduling and control techniques are mostly based on a centralized structure. Only little work has been done on scheduling and control of decentralized, autonomous and cooperative manufacturing system. This paper proposes a new approach IPM(Interactive Prediction Method) for scheduling and control of holonic manufacturing system.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop the flexible manufacturing system (FMS), which is cooperated with the automatic warehouse and inventory control under holonic manufacturing system (HMS). The HMS is a next wave of manufacturing revolution to deal with dynamic changing. The architecture of HMS is developed for cooperation system between the automatic warehouse agents and the manufacturing agents. This research applies the concept of HMS to develop a distributed control system for automatic warehouse and FMS by industrial network. The parts of prototype manufacturing agents consist of the conveyer system and 3-axises robot that provide the variety patterns in order to work as punch process. Each order of productions depends on the reorder points(RP) of inventory levels. The computation results indicate an improvement by comparing with traditional centralized control.

  • Modern manufacturing systems should cope with the frequent changes in a product model and disturbances in manufacturing process. The control system of such systems must cover a constant adaptation and high flexibility. Holonic Flexible Manufacturing Cell(HFMC) is introduced to handle these issues more successfully. It is based on the concept of autonomous co-operating agent, called 'Holon', which is a building block of a manufacturing system for transforming, transporting, storing and/or validating information and physical objects. In this paper the basic structure of the HFMC is represented by using Unified Modeling Language and Open architecture cell controller is developed for effective integration components of a manufacturing system. Also a new control model, called MuLOM(Multi-Layered Operation Model), is suggested to represent the control behaviour for a holonic flexible manufacturing cell control system.

  • Manufacturing systems are becoming intelligent, decentralized, autonomous, which is so called as Intelligent Manufacturing Systems(IMS). In this paper, a method for efficient resource management in Holonic Manufacturing System which is one alternative of IMS, was developed. The developed method was evaluated with the current possible method and the results are shown.
