Pilot Test with Pervaporation Seperation of Aqueous IPA Using a Composite PEI/PDMS Membrane Module (IPA/물 혼합액의 PEI/PDMS 복합막 모듈을 이용한 투과증발 파일롯 분리특성)

  • To determine the pervaporation separation characteristics of IPA/water mixtures, PEI/PDMS hollow fiber membrane module commercialized by Airrane Co. was subjected to both lab and pilot tests. The flux of $0.52kg/m^2h$ and IPA concentration of 68.5% at $25^{\circ}C$ were obtained whereas the $1.368kg/m^2h$ and 61.2% were measured at $55^{\circ}C$. In order to realized the durability of the module, the long-term test (at $50^{\circ}C$) of 100 days has been conducted and as a result, the flux $1.03{\sim}1.15kg/m^2h$ and IPA concentration 61.8~62.5% were maintained with the initial values.

  • Deionized water and wastewater flux were discussed using module set 1-7 composed of ultrafiltration hollow fiber type modules and reverse osmosis spiral wound type modules. The separation characteristics of ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes were discussed with the variation of applied pressure and temperature. Turbidity and SS were removed effectively from ultrafiltration mem¬brane, and removal efficiency of COD, T-N, and TDS using reverse osmosis membrane was very efficient. Permeate flux increased linearly with the increase of applied pressures and temperature. It was shown that ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes were suitable Lo the advanced treatment and reuse of oil refinery process effluent.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the performance of gasoline engine. Combustion-characteristics orignated from supplying cylinder with fuel-air mixture which was formed by the rise of oxygen-concentration in air with oxygen-enriching membrane have been investigated. The results showed that the poor-limit of oxygen-concentration was increased by shortening combustion-duration because the rise of oxygen-concentration in fuel-air mixture resulted in the promotion of combustion-velocity. Also, the generation of large output of power was expected from combustion in proportion as the amount of oxygen was increased.

  • Closed-die forging of spur gears with hollow cylindrical billet has been analysed by using the upper-bound method. A kinematically admiccible velocity field has been developed. wherein, an involute curve has been introduced to represent the forging die profile. In the analysis, the deformation regions have been divided into nine zones. A constant frictional stress has been assumed on the contacting surfaces. Utilizing the formulated velocity field, numerical calcuations have been carried out to investigate the effects of various parameters, such as module, number of teeth and friction factor,on the forging of spur gears.

  • 근래들어 생물기술이 급속히 발전함에 따라 생물반응을 통해 다양한 생물제품들의 생산이 이루어지고 있다. 생물반응에 의한 생물제품들의 생산량은 극단적으로는 기질 1g당 10$^{-8}$g 정도로서 극히 낮아 이를 상업제품이 요구하는 순도(95 %이상)로 까지 정제하기 위해서는 여러 단계를 거치는 복잡하고 지루한 분리.정제 과정이 필요하며, 이 분리.정제의 후류공정(downstream process)비용이 생물제품 생산비의 상당부분을 점유케 되어 생물공정의 경제성을 낮게 한다. 따라서 생물공정을 이용한 생물제품 생산이 산업적으로 경제성을 갖기 위해서는 생물제품을 보다 효율적.경제적으로 분리.정제할 수 있는 후류공정의 확립이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 산업적 규모로 생산되는 생물제품들을 효율적으로 분리.정제하는데 응용 가능한 방법의 하나로서 관심의 대상이 되고 있는 책체 크로마트그래피 기법을 연구의 대상으로 하였다.

Membrane Contactors for Water Carbonation

  • A theoretical and experimental study made in order to determine the performance of mem-brane contactors in water carbonation is presented. In particular on the basis of experimental results pre-viously obtained it has been derived an expression in which the effect of some parameters as temprera-ture water and CO₂ flow rate CO₂ pressure trans-membrane pressure on the performance of the process is taken into account. The study refers to hollow fiber membrane contactors used for the experimental tests. The main scope has been to verify if by membrane contactors it is possible to reach the same de-gree of water carbonation as by trditional methods (1-5 g/1) and to derive for the module used a cor-relation able to describe the performance of the process at several operating conditions. The high CO₂ removal observed confirms the interesting potentialties of membrane contactors also in gas streams purification.

  • Metal ions exist in seawater, groundwater and industrial wastewaters. These source waters can be recycled if their concentrations are reduced. A number of processes can be applied for this purpose. Liquid-liquid extraction is one of the promising methods. In this paper, experimental results are presented on the removal of Cr(VI) using Aliquat-336, a reactive carrier, in sunflower oil (a non-toxic solvent). The performance of this new system is compared with those of kerosene (a toxic solvent). The extent of removal of Cr(VI) from samples with high and low concentrations are presented. The process was upgraded to a bench-scale module that can selectively remove about 50-90% Cr(VI) from samples of groundwater. Thus this process can produce water within the acceptable range for recycling and for use in secondary purposes such as irrigation.

  • A typical low and medium-sized neighborhood living facility in reinforced concrete building secures a high floor and pursues an efficient module plan(long span). Accordingly, research on the development of new hybrid beams that can innovatively reduce labor costs such as on-site installation and assembly while securing strength and rigidity is ongoing. In order to verify the structural performance of the U-flanged truss composite beam with newly developed shape, Experiments with various variables are required. Based on the results, this study is to evaluate the strength of U-flanged truss hybrid beam through the flexural strength of the Korea Design Code and experimental values. It was evaluated that nominal flexural strength was 110% to 135% higher than the experimental value.

Membrane Process Development for $CO_2$ Separation of Flaring Gas (Flaring 가스의 $CO_2$ 분리를 위한 분리막 공정 기술개발)

  • We prepared composite membrane which was made with polysulfone supported hollow fiber membrane coated with Hyflon AD to eliminate $CO_2$ gas from mixed-gases which were generated in DME manufacturing processes. The performance of module about simulated flaring gas was measured by using manufactured composite membrane. 1-stage evaluation result shows $CO_2$ concentration was below 3% at 1.2 MPa and at Stage cut 0.24 above. In addition $CO_2$ removal rate and $CH_4$ recovery rate was 80% respectively at the same condition. 2-stage evaluation result shows, when the $CO_2$ concentration of product gas was fixed at 5%, recycled $CO_2$ at stage cut 0.074 had the same concentration as the feed gas and the recovery rate of $CH_4$ was 99% at the moment.
