However, there are still some problems with regard to the lack of awareness of records and archives. In order to activate the use of archives, it is necessary to understand the users of archives. Given the problems, this study aims to investigate the awareness of records and archives in university students who are potential users of archives as well as to suggest methods to activate the use of records and archives reflecting the characteristics of university students' awareness. As such, this study surveyed 182 university students at J university. The questionnaire items referred to Market & Opinion Research International (MORI) (2003) as a part of the projects conducted by the Museums Libraries Archives Council (MLA) and Cho's study (2008). The questionnaire items consisted of four major areas: awareness of records and archives, experience with records and archives or reasons of not using them, requirements for the use of archives by potential users, and efficient method of promoting archives. As a result of the survey, most of the university students are indifferent to records. However, they recognized that it is highly important to manage records that are related to historical values and archives that are relevant to information values. In addition, they showed a positive intention to use the archives in the future; thus, it is highly likely for them to be converted into active users through appropriate services. Based on the results, this study proposed important considerations for activating the use of the archives to university students, and suggested methods to activate the archives in terms of user education, program development, and user segmentation.

  • Comics uses words to convey its content and meaning, while the comic image conveys the content as a narrative function to represent how language is combined with the text. This paper makes a comparison and analysis of the comics of Japan and South Korea, in terms of words and image expression, narrative techniques, and the way of communication, to study the characteristics of image narrative. The comic image of Jing ke is the other as a flow of narrative and getting rid of the current screen, to resonate with the readers. Go U-yeong's comics and Sumeragi Natsuki's set up a virtual narrative time and space through the line, surface, space and shade, to realize the reproduction of unhistorical facts and the significance of narrative with the artist's imagination. Sumeragi Natsuki's comics uses historical facts to represent exquisite narrative like still-life paintings. She focuses on the description of the objective facts of history, to seek the sensitive comic image beyond reality. The image narration of Go U-yeong's comics is a clash between his historical narrative among the subjective romantic image and the readers' awareness narrative flow that they insist inside. Therefore, he tries to keep balance. The instant image in his comics is not a reproduction of the historical real moment, but a reproduction image of the reality reconstructed by his own pursuit of narrative.

  • This study analysed the narrative of and , two history documentary broadcasted on KBS, in terms of story-telling and discourse. And it also examined whether TV as mass media could provide an alternative interpretation against the dominant historical awareness. As a result, both programmes showed limitations on representing subversive point of view to the dominant ideology. At the story-telling level, firstly, they represented in a way of male-hero narrative though they were describing the history of woman, and while representing woman as a public figure they eliminated her feminity and individuality. Secondly, before evaluating woman as a historic figure they previously appreciated her appearance in a male-point of view. Thirdly, although they were telling the story of woman in a political view, they focused on love triangle, therefore failed to make her as a public figure. The discourses of both programmes were anchoring the existing historical interpretation instead of offering an alternative historical imagination. The narrator who were telling history at the studio in a omniscient viewpoint took a role as a meaning definer, placed at the highest rank in the hierarchy of discourse structure. Especially in , the dramatized images to cover lack of visual data helped anchor the patriarchal narrative and reduced the possibility of subversive interpretation on historic figure.

  • In this research, we have extracted historical records regarding the geotechnology from the Goryeosa and the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty which are rated as ancient books that have objective views in the Goryeo Dynasty and the Joseon Dynasty in order to understand the national awareness and the social situation of the past events. We used the Korean history database system of National Institute of Korean History (NIKH) and collected related records by searching specific keywords such as volcano, mining, hot spring, and meteorite. According to the historical records, geological events such as the volcano and meteorite were regarded as important issues which were enough to be recorded in annals and surveyed by the dispatched government officials to the fields of events. In case of the hot springs, government officials conducted explorations of hot springs at king's orders and developed the potential areas of hot springs. Among the historical records on mining, the contents of geotechnology including the contents about discovered minerals and its locations can be easily found from those ancient books. Especially, it is possible to understand the history of geotechnology such as an establishment of modern organizations and a capitalistic flow for development through the history of the mining in the late Joseon Dynasty.

  • In this paper, it is predicted that the tendency of planning and genre films to produce high - quality films will continue, but it is necessary to have high value and meaningful films and solid storytelling. From the blockbuster warships to arts and low-budget films, the movie genre is centered around fiction and storytelling. However, in the case of Princess Deokhye, it is difficult to recognize any categories of entertainment or artistic due to the fact that it is highly visually and has a high historical status and low awareness. And the distortions of the facts have caused a lot of controversy. However, it seems that Dongju and Park are usually composed of individual - oriented narratives and can be freed from the artistic approach and historical facts in the material. In addition, historical facts should not be distorted or exaggerated. Through this study,
