This paper addresses an in-depth analysis of the stratosphere-to-Earth co-channel interference produced by high-altitude platforms (HAPs) and proposes a new methodology for the evaluation of its impact to terrestrial systems in terms of fractional degradation in performance, taking into account parameters such as HAP's mobility, realistic distribution of azimuth and elevation angles of the terrestrial microwave links (TMLs), and gradual high-altitude platform network (HAPN) loading. Simulations performed for different HAPN configurations, prove that the implementation of the methodology proposed, may lead to a more efficient use of the spectrum shared between the two services.
HAP(High Altitude Platform) is a stationary aerial platform positioned in the stratosphere between 17Km and 22Km height and it could act as an MBS (Mobile Base Station). HAP based Network has advantages of both satellite system and terrestrial communication system. In this paper we study the deploy of multiple HAP MBS that can provides efficient communication for users. For this study, EM(Expectation Maximization) clustering algorithm is used to cluster terrestrial mobile nodes. The object of this paper is improving EM algorithm into the clustering algorithm for efficiency in variety aspects considering distance between mobile terminal units and speed of mobile terminal units, and estimating performance of HAP MBS deploy technique with use of improved EM algorithm using RWP (Random Waypoint) node mobility.
High Altitude Platform (HAP) based networks deploy network infrastructures of Mobile Base Station (MBS) in a form of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) at stratosphere in order to build network configuration. The ultimate goal of HAP based network is a wireless network service for wide area by deploying multiple MBS for such area. In this paper we assume multiple UAVs over designated area and solve the MBS placement and coverage problem by clustering the mobile ground nodes. For this study we assumed area around Cheju island and nearby naval area where multiple mobile and fixed nodes are deployed and requires HAP based networking service. By simulation, visual results of stratospheric MBS placement have been presented. These results include clustering, MBS placement and coverage as well as dynamic reclustering according to the movement of mobile ground nodes.

HAP(High Altitude Platform) systems have been proposed due to their unique advantages over terrestrial and satellite systems as the alternative wireless communication system to deliver the third generation IMT-2000 wireless services. It has been required to study for the power control in W-CDMA HAP system as well as the terrestrial mobile system in order to mitigate interference and increase the capacity. In this paper, a new power control has been proposed for HAP system considering the interference profile into the DB(distributed balancing) SIR(signal to interference ratio)-based algorithm which has been considered in terrestrial system, and estimated by the outage performance of the proposed DB algorithm is better remarkably than DBPA(distance-based power allocation) which is proposed for HAP system, and it is the same regardless of the antenna maximum gain and its sidelobe characteristics.
In a High Altitude Platform (HAP) cellular communications network, each cell may be served by a dedicated spot-beam antenna. The antennas' beam properties and their spatial overlap control the co-channel interference. In prior literature, radiation patterns have been approximated by a main lobe followed by a constant sidelobe floor. A network of 121 cells has been studied and the method is here extended to the use of more realistic radiation patterns based on the theoretical aperture antenna patterns. This allows for the comparison of the effect of different aperture field tapers, which lead to reduced sidelobe levels and hence higher system capacity but also a more massive antenna payload.
본고에서는 20km-50km 성층권상공에 위치하는 HAPS(High Altitude Platform Station) 구현을 위한 최근의 연구동향에 대해 알아본다.
High Altitude Platform network systems utilize Unmanned Aerial Vehicle as routers for ground node communication. For this purpose, geographical clustering of ground nodes must be required. In this paper, we assume mobile ground nodes over wide area and the clusters composed of ground nodes are identified. UAVs can be positioned at the point of centroid of clusters. The number of UAVs are derived from the area size and the number of ground nodes deployed in that area. From the simulation and application of clustering algorithms, we showed visual clustering results with dynamic variance of number of ground nodes.
This research aims an optimal placement of Mobile Base Station (MBS) under HAP based network configurations with the restrictions of HAP capabilities. With clustering algorithm based on BIRCH, mobile ground nodes are clustered and the centroid of the clusters will be the location of MBS. The hierarchical structure of BIRCH enables mobile node management by CF tree and the restrictions of maximum nodes per MBS and maximum radio coverage are accomplished by splitting and merging clusters. Mobility models based on Jeju island are used for simulations and such restrictions are met with proper placement of MBS.
In this paper, we analyze the interference effects between NGSO(Non-Geostationary Orbit) and HAPS(High Altitude Platform System) by dividing into two cases. The one is interference effects of HAPS into NGSO, the another is the interference effects of NGSO into HAPS. At the result, we canknow the interference effect into NGSO mobile station is the highest when position of NGSO is $95^{\circ}$. In this case, we can also know the interference effects from both HAPS and NGSO exceed interference criteria when the number of users are more than 20. And, in the case of the interference effect into HAPS mobile station, we can know it is the highest when elevation angle of NGSO is $87^{\circ}$, and the interference effects from both NGSO and HAPS exceed interference criteria when the number of users is more then 10. Moreover, the interference effect is the minimum, when elevation angle of NGSO is $64^{\circ}$, at this time, in case that the number of users of NGSO equal to the number of user of HAPS, the interference effects exceed interference criteria when the number of users is 190.

Wireless communications have been developed time and time to satisfy more demands of users for internet service, mobile communication service and so on. One of infrastructures leading the next generation wireless communication is HAPS(High Altitude Platform Station). This paper analyzed outage probability when a mobile communication system was constructed by using HAPS. First, an approach to evaluate the carrier to interference power ratio' was introduced and results from the analysis were calculated and simulated. from the results, carrier to interference power ratio (C/I) and fading depth (K) had an effect on outage probability; outage probability decreases when K increases far constant C/I or C/l increases for constant K. In addition, when outage probability for a platform with elevation 30 degrees is expanded into it for 24-platforms, outage probability(C/I=9.8dB) was worse because of many interferers relatively.
