Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has played an important role in receptor modeling area because it is a powerful tool for characterizing individual particles. The purpose of the study was to classify individual diesel particles base on statistical analysis and image analysis by SEM/EDX (energy dispersive x-ray analyser). The diesel particles were sampled by both a modified CVS 75 mode and a high speed mode with a chassis dynamometer. The SEM/EDX system provides various physical parameters including particle's particle diameter and chemical information. Thus density and mass of the diesel particle were estimated cased on its chemical composition and further fractal dimensions of the diesel particle were obtained by the Hurst exponent method. The fractal dimension in the sample of modified CVS 75 mode was higher than the high speed mode. Finally, mass fractions for a diesel vehicle as a source profile were estimated cased on a particle class concept.

We present a new digital phase measuring method for heterodyne optical interferometry, which providers high measuring speed up to 6 m/s with a fine displacement resolution of 0.1 nanometer. The key idea is combining two distinctive digital phase measuring techniques with mutually complementary characteristics to earth other one is counting the Doppler shift frequency counting with 20 MHz beat frequency for high-velocity measurement and the other is the synchronous phase demodulation with 2.0 kHz beat frequency for extremely fine displacement resolution. The two techniques are operated in switching mode in accordance wish the object speed in a synchronized way. Experimental results prove that the proposed dual mode phase measuring scheme is realized with a set of relatively simple electronic circuits of beat frequency shifting, heterodyne phase detection. and low-pass filtering.

The high speed tracking control of a 6-6 Stewart platform manipulator (SPM) normally requires knowledge of its complex full dynamics and measurement of its base motion when the SPM operates on a motion nit. In this study, an enhanced sliding mode control scheme has been developed, which is based on the reduced dynamics, not necessitating measurement of the base motion. The enhanced sliding mode control implemented with the perturbation compensation and modified reaching phase alleviation functions has been successfully employed for high speed tacking control of the laboratory SPM, when it is subjected to a virtual base motion.

To address the requirement for high-speed encryption of large amounts of data, this study improves the widely adopted cipher block chaining (CBC) mode and proposes a controllable parallel cipher block chaining (CPCBC) block cipher mode of operation. The mode consists of two phases: extension and parallel encryption. In the extension phase, the degree of parallelism n is determined as needed. In the parallel encryption phase, n cipher blocks generated in the expansion phase are used as the initialization vectors to open n parallel encryption chains for parallel encryption. The security analysis demonstrates that CPCBC mode can enhance the resistance to byte-flipping attacks and padding oracle attacks if parallelism n is kept secret. Security has been improved when compared to the traditional CBC mode. Performance analysis reveals that this scheme has an almost linear acceleration ratio in the case of encrypting a large amount of data. Compared with the conventional CBC mode, the encryption speed is significantly faster.
In this paper it is proposed an advanced modified sliding mode control of a rotor field oriented control of induction motor. The application of this unconventional control has very good results, such as disturbance rejection and nice dynamic properties. Stability can be guaranteed even in the worst situation. A conventional "sliding mode" controller is characterised by fast switching control signal, which causes the chattering of the drive system. To overcome this problem, a modified law is used, by introducing a hysteresis band and a continuous control, which modifies the conventional law. The control is accomplished with dual TMS320C44 floating-point digital signal processor. The validity of the proposed method was verified by experiment on the propulsion system simulator, used for the development of Korean High-Speed Railway Train(KHSRT).in(KHSRT).
A high speed tracking control for 6-6 Stewart platform manipulator is performed by employing the joint-axis sliding mode control based on dynamics. Because of the complex dynamics and kinematics of Stewart platform manipulator, two computer systems, consisting of a PC and a DSP, are adopted, so that real time tasks are run in synchronous and asynchronous modes. It is experimentally proven that the proposed control system leads to an easy to implement and effective control task, and it can achieve the high performance tracking control under the high speed and severe payload condition.

In optical disk drive (ODD), disk rotation speed has been increasing rapidly to achieve high data transfer rate. High servo bandwidths for focusing and tracking actuator are required to follow dynamic disturbance by high rotation speed in ODD. However, the servo bandwidth is significantly limited by some vibration modes which are induced by the flexibility of moving part. In this work, the vibration modes affecting bandwidth of actuators are suppressed by modifying actuating force by VCM. For this, the relation between the horizontal component of the actuating force and vibration mode is analyzed and force characteristic affecting to vibration mode is obtained through electromagnetic and structural analysis using simulation program.
In this paper, a sliding mode controller (SMC) which can be characterized by high accuracy, fast response and robustness is applied to speed control of AC-SERVO motor. The control input is changed to continuous one in the boundary layer to reduce the chattering phenomenon, and the boundary layer converges to zero when the state variables of system reach to steady state values. The integral compensator is added to reduce steady state error and to provide the continuous torque reference. The acceleration which is necessary to get the sliding plane is estimated by an observer. Sliding surface is included in control input to enhance the robustness and transient response without increasing sliding mode controller gain. The proposed controller is implemented by DSP(digital signal processor). The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for speed controller is shown by the real-time experimental results in the paper.

In this paper, a flat-type $L_{-}$-$B_{8}$ mode Ultrasonic Motor[USM] having the size of 80 x 20 x ${1.5}mm^3$($l{\times}\omega{\times}t$) was designed and fabricated to examine the characteristics of an ultrasonic vibration. We used ANSYS simulation program based on FEM to get the optimum design of this USM. As results of experiment, the fastest speed of revolution(v), the maximum torque(T) and the efficiency(n) were 37.5cm/s, 5.0 mN.m and 1.17% when 27.9KHz, 150N, 50V were applied respectively. And this flat-type $L_{-}$-$B_{8}$ mode USM could be controlled the speed of rotor revolution by applied voltage, frequency and pre-load of rotor as well as showed the characteristics of typical drooping torque-speed, large torque and high speed. So, we think that this flat-type $L_{-}$-$B_{8}$ mode USM has characteristics of enough torque and velocity to be usable for applications in forwarding device of an electric card or a paper, etc.

The present study examined the characteristics of high speed welding thin metal sheet using single mode fiber laser of averaged maximum output power 300 W. Due to the fiber laser that has a good quality of beam can make a very small focusing beam size, thin metal sheet welding and high speed key hole welding can be peformed by high power density.
