There have been some problems of high labor. low productivity in the existing systems of bonsai cultivation. This study was conducted to cultivate a large quantity of hig-quality bonsai through the development of bottom irrigation system and management method. Bonsai placed on the FRP bed were grown very well by bottom irrigation system compared with direct watering and sprinkler system. It was concluded that bottom irrigation system was possible to reduce considerable manual labor and produce mass production of high-quality bonsai within shorter periods. This research was finally found that the growth was significantly better and earlier production was certain in the vinyl house, had another advantage which could cultivate less cold-resistant species and therefore broadened a range of species selection for market supply. Cultivation techniques by the use of vinyl house and bottom irrigation system developed was quite effective for early production of bonsai as well as for high productive and value added. This project developed a new practical techniques and systems which can make mass and early production of bonsai with high quality through input of less labor. Interest in bonsai is now expanding in landscape horticulture and other fields concerned, and bonsai export of our country is also increasing. Results from this research will make a great contribution to enhancing of bonsai cultivator's competitive position in world markets and to improving of their annual income.
This paper presents the relationship between the pace of structural change and the magnitude of employment growth in the manufacturing sector in OECD countries. To measure the pace of structural change, the compositional change index in value-added in manufacturing sector is introduced. For mid to long-term there seems to be a positive relationship between the pace of structural change and the magnitude of employment growth. In those countries with higher value of the compositional index, the employment growth in manufacturing sector was generally higher. To analyse the characteristics of structural change in manufacturing sector, this paper classifies manufacturing industries into groups: one based on technology, one on orientation, one on wages and one on skills. The international comparison of manufacturing sector's employment patterns based on above four classifications are presented. International comparison suggests that Korean manufacturing sector move into jobs with more skills and knowledge The structural change of SMEs and large firms are compared based on above four classification methods. It is shown that SMEs' employment in low value sectors, that is low-technology, labor-intensive, tow-wage, and unskilled sectors, have risen faster than SMEs' employment in high-technology, science-based, high-wage and skilled sectors. Large firms' employment have been mainly increased in high value sectors. However, the employment growth of both large and small firms have been concentrated on production worker-intensively-using sectors, i.e. unskilled sectors. This widened the wage differential of production workers by firm sizes and concurrently led to severe shortage of production workers for SMEs, which has little ability to pay high wage to production workers because they usually belong to low-wage sectors. Korea need to push SMEs forward to high value sectors. The premise of that is, however, to pull large firms out of production worker-intensively-using sectors.
The yield of rice production is affected severely by abnormal weather events, such as flood, drought, high temperature etc. The objective of this paper is to assess impacts of abnormal weather events on rice production, using a panel model which analyzes both cross-section data and ti- me series data. Abnormal weather is defined as the weather event which goes beyond the range of ${\pm}2{\sigma}$ from the average of a weather factor. The result of an analysis on impacts of high temperature on rice production showed that the yield of rice was decreased 5.8% to 16.3% under the conditions of extremely high temperature, and it was decreased 8.8 to 20.8% under the conditions of both extremely high and heavy rain. Adaptation strategies, development of new varieties enduring high temperature and heavy rain, adaptation of crop insurance, modernization of irrigation facilities are needed to minimize the impacts of abnormal weather on rice production, and to stabilize farmers' income.

The lakes' metabolism bears important information for the assessment of the carbon budget due to the accumulation or loss of carbon in the lake as well as the dynamics of the food webs through primary production. A lake-scale metabolism is evaluated by Gross Primary Production (GPP), Ecosystem Respiration (R), and Net Ecosystem Production (NEP), which is the difference between the first two values. Methods for estimating GPP and R are based on the levels carbon and oxygen. Estimation of carbon is expensive because of the use of radioactive materials which requires a high degree of proficiency. The purpose of this study was to estimate Lake Daecheong ecosystem metabolism using high frequency water temperature data and DO measurement sensor, widely utilized in the field of water quality monitoring, and to evaluate the possibility of using the application method. High frequency data was collected at intervals of 10 minutes from September to December 2017 by installing a thermistor chain and a DO sensor in downstream of Daechung Dam. The data was then used to estimate GPP, R and NEP using the R public program LakeMetabolizer, and other metabolism models (mle, ols, kalman, bookkeep). Calculations of gas exchange coefficient methods (cole, crusius, heiskanen, macIntyre, read, soloviev, vachon) were compared. According to the result, Lake Daecheong has some deviation based on the application method, but it was generally estimated that the NEP value is negative and acts as a source of atmospheric carbon in a heterotrophic system. Although the high frequency sensor data used in this study had negative and positive GPP and R values during the physical mixing process, they can be used to monitor real-time metabolic changes in the ecosystem if these problems are solved.

Many tools in classical type for the production management have been used in industrial cells. In spite of their powerful logic and historical success, many appliers could not take but a little effectiveness in current economic conditions. The major reason is that the chronical production control methods are too narrow in its applicability to cover the problems occurred under such a high-speed changes. Therefore we need to develop the new concept of production management for the higher adaptability and outcome which can support vitablities to enterprises in severe condition. The essential points in changing the viewpoint of new production management concepts are valuable to the group of new management.
Purpose - This study aims to seek various plans to maintain the advancement of the overseas and domestic employment scenario through a case analysis of the Japanese industry, which maintains domestic employment while promoting the overseas advancement of companies despite having a similar industrial structure as Korea. The study further intends to derive insightful implications for Japanese manufacturing companies and government policies. Research design, data, and methodology - We selected four companies from the Japanese manufacturing industry. Being companies that were successful in increasing the domestic employment scenario while advancing in overseas markets. We utilized several secondary data sources including Japanese newspapers and report literature. Results - Previous studies have shown a negative relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) or offshoring and domestic employment. However, our results showed this relationship with respect to the Japanese manufacturing industry as follows: 1. FDI for developing overseas markets does not decrease domestic production. If Japanese companies change their strategy from exports to overseas production, there will be a consequent decrease in domestic employment of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs). However, the local production that plans the sales expansion of a foreign market does not substitute domestic production. 2. Several case studies illustrate that, as the production of final goods is expanded in foreign countries, there is a corresponding increase in the export of intermediary goods from Japan. In this case, if the production process of Japanese companies is promoted in foreign markets, the amount of exported material and parts from Japan will consequently increase. 3. It is difficult to consider that the establishment of subsidiary companies in foreign countries by manufacturing companies for wholesale, retail, and services decreases domestic employment. This is because the international development of these industries needs expatriates, expatriate training organizations, and research and development (R&D) activities. 4. When there is overseas demand, the growth of local management activities is expected to increase the work of the overseas business department in the head office in Japan, if competitiveness can be secured for better localization and management speed. 5. The conversion of the domestic manufacturing industry into high value-added production is necessary. The relocation of domestic production to foreign markets decreases domestic employment. To prevent this, the upgradation of domestic production bases, including high value-added production, and R&D capability need to be strengthened. Technology-based companies must develop new technology, patents, processes, and so forth, which require extensive human resources for R&D. Conclusions - Domestic medium-sized companies that are capable of consistently supplying high value-added products should be actively encouraged to deploy into and develop overseas markets. Further, this paper considers the necessity of a guidance policy that provides suggestions for overseas deployment, by the initiation of the government, to companies that cannot do so due to the lack of foreign experience or decisions by the CEO, despite having the relevant capability and technologies to supply high value-added products.
Seasonality in abundance and egg production was investigated for Calanus sinicus in Asan Bay, Korea, and feeding effort was measured in the laboratory condition. Although abundances of this species in this bay showed only one Peak in spring, egg Production showed two peaks, spring and fall, in this bay. Potential of year-round egg Production was also found. Food availability judged by the particulate organic carbon (POC) concentration was usually more than enough in this bay. High egg Production in fall resulted in spring Peak in abundance. But high egg Production in spring did not result in summer or fall Peak in abundance. Low abundances in summer and fall were believed to be the result of long range horizontal migration out to the central Part of the Yellow Sea. The highest average egg Production by the Population of this species was 16.3 eggs female-'day-'. Maximum e99 Production by an individual was 39.0 e99s female$^{-1}$ day$^{-1}$, which yielded 30.7% of specific egg Production rate in terms of body carbon content with the carbon contents of 44.44$^{\mu}$gC and 0.35 $^{\mu}$gC for individual adult female and egg, respectively. Clearance rate (F) measured in the laboratory condition decreased exponentially with the increase of food concentrations, as expected. The asymptote of F was 3.17 ml copepod$^{-1}$ h$^{-1}$. When this value and the minimum concentration of POC measured in the field were applied under the assumption of continuous feeding in the nature, the calculated gross efficient of egg production was 41.6% in case of average egg production of the population. Violation of the assumption of diurnal feeding rhythm and application of the minimum concentration of POC may offset the influence on calculation each other.
The failure of a subsea production plant could induce fatal hazards and enormous loss to human lives, environments, and properties. Thus, for securing integrated design safety, core source technologies include subsea system integration that has high safety and reliability and a technique for the subsea flow assurance of subsea production plant and subsea pipeline network fluids. The evaluation of subsea flow assurance needs to be performed considering the performance of a subsea production plant, reservoir production characteristics, and the flow characteristics of multiphase fluids. A subsea production plant is installed in the deep sea, and thus is exposed to a high-pressure/ low-temperature environment. Accordingly, hydrates could be formed inside a subsea production plant or within a subsea pipeline network. These hydrates could induce serious damages by blocking the flow of subsea fluids. In this study, a simulation technology, which can visualize the system configuration of subsea production processes and can simulate stable flow of fluids, was introduced. Most existing subsea simulations have performed the analysis of dynamic behaviors for the installation of subsea facilities or the flow analysis of multiphase flow within pipes. The above studies occupy extensive research areas of the subsea field. In this study, with the goal of simulating the configuration of an entire deep sea production system compared to existing studies, a DES-based simulation technology, which can logically simulate oil production processes in the deep sea, was analyzed, and an implementation example of a simplified case was introduced.
A helper T(Th)1-mediated response is known to enhance cell -mediated immunity, while a Th2-mediated response is associated with the humoral immunity that if elevated IgE levels and eosinophilia. Prostaglandin (PG)E$_2$results in the decreased capability of Iymphocytes to produce Thl cytokines, with a shift toward a Th2 cytokine response. Chlorpyrifos (CPF) has been reported to impair the blastogenesis and response of T Iymphocytes. CPF also induces delayed febrile effects, which results from the activation of COX -PGE$_2$pathway. The purpose of this study is to determine the effort of CPF on the in vitro production of Th cytokines and the role of PGE$_2$on the CPF-induced production of Th cytokines. Splenocytes obtained from male BALB/c mice were pretreated with CPF(0.1, 1, 10 and 100$\mu$M) in the presence of absence of indomethacin or PGE$_2$for 12 h and then were incubated with concanavalin (Con) A for 48 h. These results showed that CPF remarkedly reduced the production of splenic interleukin (IL)-2 and interferon (IFN)-γ in a dose-dependent manner. CPF significantly increased the splenic IL-4 production at low doses (0.1 and 1$\mu$M) but did not affect at high doses (10 and 100 $\mu$M). Indomethacin reduced the CPF-decreased production of IL-2 and IFN-γ in a dose -dependent manner and significantly attenuated the production of IL-4 increased by CPF 0.1 $\mu$M. High dose of CPF significantly reduced the PGE$_2$-decreased production of IL-2 and IFN-γ, while the PGE$_2$- induced production of IL-4 was significantly enhanced by CPF 1 $\mu$M. These findings suggest that CPF nay down-regulate the immune response of Th 1 type by the suppressed production of IL-2 and IFN-γ, with a shift toward a Th2 cytokine response. The CPF-decreased production of Thl cytokines may not be mediated by endogenous PGE$_2$. Also, CPF may attenuate the exogenous PGE$_2$-decreased Th 1 immune response in a dose--dependent manner but may affect dose-independently the PGE$_2$-induced Th2 immune response.
This study is to investigate the kinetics of anaerobic process, the effect of mass transfer on process, and the characteristics of the conventional anaerobic bioreactor, and develop new high efficiency bioreactor. In the new bioreactor wastewater containing highly concentrated organic materials, was treated without diluting wastewater. In this experiment the high COD removal rate (about 88%) and gas production(about 200l/d) was showed with short residence time(1.5 day). This performance is about 10 times as large as the conventional reactor.
