This study was conducted to find out the effects of aerial application by unmanned helicopter (AAUH) on controlling weeds under water-seeded rice cultivation. Foliar herbicide (bentazone sodium + fenoxaprop-P-ethyl) was applied with diluted 8-times (standard concentration pest control) as AAUH. Foliar herbicide treatment with standard and two times amount were little damage, but with more than three times amount showed great damage in rice growth. Six annual and two perennial weeds were major weeds occurred in the experimental paddy field. On foliar herbicide treatment 25 days after direct seeding, AAUH showed high control values against weeds (96.3% for annual weeds and 99.8% for perennial weeds). There was no significant difference in weed control values between AAUH and conventional application. There was no spray injury against rice plants with aerial application. In the experiment for good spray timing (15, 20 and 25 days after direct seeding) 15 days showed highest weed control values with 98.5% to annual weeds and 99.8% to perennial weeds and no spray injury.

This study was conducted to evaluate the phytotoxicity of imazosulfuron+fentrazamide mixture in rice field. It is recommended that safe herbicide application was obtained at 3 cm of transplanting depth and in sandy loam or loam soil type. In the direct water seeding of rice, imazosulfuron+fentrazamide SC should be applied at least 10 days before sowing land ower than 25+100 g ai/ha. In case of imazosulfuron+fentrazamide SC application after sowing, If we use the herbicide 15 days after sowing, no herbicide symptoms will be detected even though the amounts of the herbicide increase. In the rice transplanting, it is recommended that imazosulfuron+fentrazamide GR is applied 5 days after transplanting. In case of sequential herbicide application, the imazosulfuron+fentrazamide SC application at 75+300 g ai/ha 15 or 20 days after transplanting after the application at 25+100 g ai/ha or 50+200 g ai/ha 3 days before sowing increases weed control efficacy and gives no phytotoxicity in the rice growth.
The potential as natural herbicide of d-limonene natural agent was conducted on several weeds in a greenhouse and Sciyos angulatus in field condition. Herbicidal activity of foliar application at a concentration of 100 and 200 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ of d-limonene on seven weed species was completely killed in a greenhouse condition. Also, d-limonene at a concentration of 50 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ was completely killing on Abutilon theophrasti, Aeschynomene indica, Echinochloa crus-galli and Digitaria ciliaris 3 days after treatment. While pre-emergence treatment of d-limonene concentration of 12.5 to 200 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ showed not significant visible damages. Phytotoxic symptoms of d-limonene by foliar treatment were characterized by wilting and burn-down of leaves and stems followed by discoloration, finally, plant death. Crop selectivity at d-limonene concentration of 100 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ over to five main crops including Zea mays by foliar application was not at all. Field trial of foliar treatment with d-limonene 70 to 140 kg ai $ha^{-1}$ have effectively controled over 5~20 leaf stages of S. angulatus at the natural habitats. And herbicidal efficacy of foliar application on S. angulatus with carrier volume in field condition was increased with dose dependent manners. These results suggest that d-limonene is considered possible as herbicide, and may be further optimized for natural agent for environmental friendly natural herbicide.
Cyclosulfamuron a herbicide of sulfonylurea type, is a relatively new compound which control broad leaves and perennial weeds in rice field. However, this herbicide has a minor disadvantage of decreasing rice plant growth, especially in early growth stage. Therefore, far introducing this cyclosulfamuron as a herbicide in rice field, it is important to minimize the suppression of early plant growth with maintaining weed control efficacy. This study was conducted to evaluate effects of cyclosulfamuron early plant growth and acetolactate synthase activity of rice (Oryza sativa cv Dongjinbyeo, Hwasungbyeo, Ilpumbyeo). Rice growth was inhibited by cyclosulfamuron in their early growth stage. The concentrations required far 50% inhibition of Dongjinbyeo, Hwasungbyeo and Ilpumbyeo growth were 6.3, 9.2 and 146.mg/kg, respectively. Inhibition effect of cyclosulfamuron on the root elongation was greater than the effect on the shoot growth. Concentrations required far 50% inhibition of acetolactate synthase activity from Dongjinbyeo, Hwasungbyeo, Ilpumbyeo were 42.7, 32.7 and $56.7\;{\mu}M$, respectively.
The study was conducted to interprete the fluctuation of weed vegetation in plant-sociological impacts as affected by the mixture use of oxyfluorfen and glyphosate with various dosages. Also, intended to know the real interaction between two herbicides in weeding efficacies. The better efficacy from the above mixture was recognized than from the oxyfluorfen + paraquat mixture on the perennial-sites. In lower rate mixture of oxyfluorfen, the dominance index was increased by the annual grass species (ie. Digitaria), and of glyphosate by the biennial Stellaria and perennial species (ie. Artemisia). Also, the positive maximum action of both oxyfluorfen and glyphosate in various mixture rates was categorized upto 0.55kg ai/ha for oxyfluorfen and 0.35kg ai/ha for glyphosate, respectively. However, the interaction between the above two herbicides recognized actually as negative. Consequently, the use of mixture compound of oxyfluorfen with glyphosate are expected rather to promote the control efficacy of specific weed species, to enlarge the weeding spectrum and to prolong the weeding periods than to reduce the application rate of both chemicals depending on any synergic interactions.
Several rice herbicides were evaluated to determine the herbicidal efficacy on dry seeded paddy rice. The time of herbicide application was within 1 day after seeding(DAS), 18 DAS, and 40 DAS. Under the upland conditions 30 DAS(before permanent flooding) dominant weed species were Echinochloa sp., Digitaria sp., Leptochla sp., weedy rice and other several annual broadleaved weeds belonging to Cruciferae, but after flooding Echinochloa sp., Aeschynomene sp., Eleocharis kuroguwai, Cyperus sorotinus, Ludwigia prostrata, Aneilema japonica were dominat. Early application (1 DAS) of thiobencarb, pyrazolate/butachlor, or chlomethoxyfen/butachlor resulted in very good herbicidal efficacy only during the first 30 days, but not thereafter. Application of propanil+butachlor on 18 DAS did not control the late occurring weeds effectively. Application of bentazone/quinchlorac on 40 DAS successfully suppressed weed growth throughout the remaining rice growing season and showed similar grain yield as hand weeded plot. Weed growth reduced the plant height, panicle number, 1000-grain weight, percent ripened grains, and grain yield of rice by 7, 82, 19, 55 and 87% respectively. There was a positive linear relationship between weed weight and lodging index of rice.
The objectives of the present study were to find out 1)the differences in growth of radish under foggy and non-foggy condition, 2)the weed competition between radish and major upland weeds including Echinochloa crus-galli, 3)difference in response of radish to herbicide and weed, and finally 4)the fundamental data for the establishment of radish weed control system under locational foggy regions. The research was carried out by tray in greenhouse equipped with Auto Foggy System(SAE KI RIN Co.) and results were summarized as follows. 1. Plant height and shoot fresh weight of radish cultivars(long skirt, delicious altari, green mascot) were not different at the early growth(8 to 38 days after seeding), but increased at 55 days after seeding under foggy condition. Root fresh weight increased only in green mascot cultivar tinder foggy condition. Chlorophyll contents were higher in all the cultivars of radish under foggy condition. 2. Plant height and shoot fresh weight increased at 0 and 20 days of weed competition under foggy condition. Root fresh weight increased at 0, 20 and 35 days of competition under foggy condition. Above 50 days-competition, there was no difference between foggy and non-foggy condition. 3. Napropamide, alachlor and linuron did not show any differences in plant height and shoot fresh weight between foggy and non-foggy condition. Molinate reduced the root fresh weight at 65 days after seeding tinder foggy condition. 4. No difference in weeding efficacy by any herbicides tested was found tinder foggy condition. Weeding efficacy of Aeschynomene indica was reduced under foggy condition.
Weeding effect was investigated based on the leaf stages to several different herbicide treatments for an integrated weed management of herbicide resistant Echinochloa oryzoides to ACCase and ALS inhibitors in a rice field. Efficacy of soil-applied herbicide treatments before resistant E. oryzoides occurred was very effective. Pentaxazon 5% SC showed over 98% of weeding effect although E. oryzoides were emerged 31 days after the treatment. Until the leaf stage of 2.5, five herbicides, azimsulfuron carfenstole 1.05% GR, bensulfuron-methyl benzobicyclone mefenacet 24.52% SC, bensulfuron-methyl fentrazamide 7% SC, bensulfuron-methyl mefenacet oxadiargyl 21.6% SC and mefenacet pyrazosulfuron-ethyl 3.57% GR showed perfect weeding effect. Benzobicyclone mefenacet penoxulam 21.5% SC and mefenacet pyrazosulfuron-ethyl 3.57% GR were effective at the leaf stage of 3.0. It is very important to select the right herbicides for timing and their systematic application for controlling of E. oryzoides resistant to ACCase- and ALS-inhibitors.
To evaluate the compatibility in systemic use of 4 kinds of herbicides on both weeds and soybeans, trials were conducted at Coll. Exp. Farm/Jonnam Nat'l. Univ., 1983. Among the experimented 4 herbicides, alachlor or metribuzin were applied at pre-emergence, and followed by postemergence spraying of acifluorfen or bentazon, respectively. All herbicides were applicated at rates of 0, 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 kg active ingredients per ha. Under the conditions which Echinochloa crusgalli and Digitaria adscendense were dominating, most comprehensive compatibility was found from each rates 0.5 - 0.75 kg/ha at 60 days after crop seeding date. However, slight transient leaf burn was evident at the plots of metribuzin and/or acifluorfen applicated. The positive tendency of herbicide interactions in weeding efficacy was observed from the system in alachlor sequence. However, the results in crop growth and yields at hervest indicate the necessity of higher rates of each herbicides upto 0.75 kg/ha for the consistence weeding efficacies. And more excellent weeding results (crop growth and yields) on crop plants were provided from the plots which applicated by residual type herbicide, namely acifluorfen than bentzaon.
Greenhouse experiment was carried out to investigate the specifics in growth, weed competition, and herbicide response of soybean(Glycine max) under foggy condition. Plant height and leaf stage of soybean under foggy condition were greatly increased through all growing stage comparing with non-foggy condition. At 100 days after seeding, plant height of soybean also was increased by 14% while number of pods, number of grains per pod were reduced by 16, 24 and 23%, respectively comparing with non-foggy condition. On the other hand, plant height of soybean under foggy condition was reduced with increasing the duration of competition and this tendency was similar to non-foggy condition. Plant height was reduced by above 50-day competition. Number of pods per plant of soybean was reduced regardless of foggy condition. Among the herbicides treated, quizalofop caused slightly crop injury under foggy condition, but the other herbicides did not affect growth of soybean. Number of pods and 100-grain weight of soybean by treatment of herbicides were similar to that of the untreated control but those of soybean under foggy condition were significantly reduced. At 40 days after herbicide application, weeding efficacy (based on shoot fresh weight) of herbicides treated under foggy and non-foggy condition, released exellent data(above than 97%) in all regardless foggy condition.
