This thesis shows about the meaning of treatment rate increasing, the current treated level and the reason of low treatment rate and increasing methods. 1. Treatment rate incresing means high treat level within short time, keeping treatment effect for a long time as well as raising treatment rate. 2. The current by diseases each others completed treatment rate of oriental medicine is 14.0% to 89.7%$(mean:\;{\pm}40.0%)$. Therefore the rate is show too low. 3. The reasons of low treatment rate; low academic level of oriental, academic limitation, clinic and prevention problem of oriental medicine, lack of medical approch suitable for current diseases and symptoms, mostly incurrable diseases using oriental medicine, lack of preventive education, disappropriate medical service and nonspecialty of the treatment, etc. 4. The next methods for incresing the treatment rate must be improved; such as accurate establishment of process that diagnosis symptoms and treats them, system research of microdiagnosis, positive treatment with medicine and nonmedicine method at the same time, appropriate subdivision and actualization of clinical basic research, research of dose and response, diversity of treatment methods and forms, development of treatment service and prevention based on health level, enormous change as cure medicine and opening-up of new disease field, specialization of medical examination, reinforcement of public medical part and herbal drugs use with same origin, mental and pysical stability of patients, accurate extract and oral drinking ways, etc.
This study has been geared to document primary information on common complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) used to treat and/or manage common dermatological disorders in Mauritius, a tropical multicultural island in the Indian Ocean. Data from 355 key informants was collected via a semi-structured questionnaire. Pearson correlation and Chi-squared test were performed to delineate any association. Quantitative indexes including the Importance Value (IV) and fidelity value were calculated. Results tend to indicate that cultural reasons were behind the use of CAM among Mauritians and traditional knowledge was mainly acquired either from parents/relatives or from self-experience. Among the medicinal plants mentioned, Aziadiracta indica (IV = 0.78) and Paederia tomentosa (IV = 0.70) were found to be most used plants. Calendula officinalis (IV = 0.15), Centella asiatica (IV = 0.22) and Agauria salicifolia (IV = 0.11) were also recorded to be used for common dermatological disorders though greatly under-utilised. Animal products were mentioned by 38.0% respondents and cow ghee was found to be commonly used in the management of measles (IV = 0.88). Spiritual healing was found to be used mainly for measles and warts. Given the plethora of novel information documented from the present survey, it can be suggested that the Mauritian population still relies to a great extent on CAM which needs to be preserved and used sustainably. Nonetheless, further investigation is required to probe the possible active constituents that could be the basis of an evidence based investigation to discover new drugs.
Most of patients who have cancer still suffer from various forms of pain that significantly impact their quality of life. Cancer pain is a difficult problem for clinicians because analgesic drugs do not always procure complete relief. Acupuncture has been used as complementary treatment of cancer pain. We report a patient with colorectal cancer who suffer from cancer pain. The patient underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and opioid therapy. However, the patient insisted on being treated for his continuous pain with oriental medical treatment. The patient was treated with acupuncture(especially SAAM acupuncture) for 2 months, additional herbal medication was administered. After those treatments, the patient showed remarkable improvement in terms of intensity and severity of cancer pain. Further study will be needed in order to determine the long-term efficacy of acupuncture on cancer pain.

Ayurveda, an ancient System of Indian Medicine, has recommended a number of drugs from indigenous plant sources for the treatment of inflammation. To evaluate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of methanol extract of Triphala were investigated in Wister albino rats and mice. The methanol extract of Triphala were found to encompass substantial anti-inflammatory effect in acute and sub-acute models and analgesic effect. Animal models of carrageenan induced edema and cotton pellet induced granuloma in albino rats were used. Extract of 200 mg/kg shows significantly reduced paw edema. Analgesics activity of Triphala with 200 mg/kg shown by significant reduction of writhing. These report shows to support the use methanol extract of Triphala in relieving inflammation and pain.

The prime minister(樞密相公) Choi jongjun writes"Eouichwaryobang(御醫撮要方)"A.D. 1226 that is a Goryeo Period (A.D.$918{\sim}1392$). But today that has vanished, now. Inspite of the important worth of that book in Korea Traditional Medicine, there is no study about writer. So I research all the historical source about him. And I confront a historical source with the era for making a chronological table of Choi jongjun. I beliebe this survey make a great contribution towards the historical research of KTM. Now to conclude, In A.D. 1226, Choi Jongjun was Jung chuwonbusa(中樞院副使) or Chumseowonsa(簽書院事).
To investigate the effect of Kwi Ryong Tang a precious tonic of herbal drugs, the blood of rabbit was depleted from the heart for the purpose of experiment and the author administered the Kwi Ryong Tang to that rabbit. This effect of the tonic on the experimental groups was Compared with that of the control group and the author observed the following results; 1. In the experimental group treated with Kwi Ryong Tang before the depletion of the blood, the recovery of blood, the recovery of blood loss is some what accelerated that in the control group. 2. In the experimental group treated with Kwi Ryong Tang after the depletion of the blood, the recovery of blood loss is slightly accelerated that in experimental group which was treated with Kwi Ryong Tang before the depletion of the blood. 3. In the experimental group treated with Kwi Ryong Tang before and after the depletion of the blood, the recovery of the blood loss is markedly accelerated Comparing, that in the experimental group which was treated with Kwi Ryong Tang before or after the depletion of the blood loss.
Nitric oxide (NO) produced in large amounts by the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) is known to be responsible for the vasodilation and hypotension observed in septic shock and inflammation. The inhibitors of iNOS, thus, may be useful candidate for the treatment of inflammatory diseases accompanied by the overproduction of NO. We prepared alcoholic extracts of Chinese medicinal plants and screened their inhibitory activity against NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated macrophages. Among the 80 kinds of extracts of herbal drugs, 15 extracts showed potent inhibitory activity of NO production above 80% at the concentration o$50\mu\textrm{g}/ml$. These potent extracts showed dose dependent inhibition of NO production of LPS-activated macrophages at the concentration of 50, 30,$10\mu\textrm{g}/ml$. Especially, Rhus chinensis, Senecio scandens and Wikstroemia indica showed most potent inhibition above 50% at the concentration of $10\mu\textrm{g}/ml$. These plants are promising candidates for the study of the activity-guided purification of active compounds and would be useful for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and endotoxemia accompanying the overproduction of NO.
Ratanjot is attributed to eight species of Boraginacae species belonging to genera Alkanna, Arnebia, Maharanga and Onosma and regarded as one of the important herbal drugs of indigenous systems of medicine. The root and root stock, which form the actual drug, are considered to be an anthelmintic, antipyretic and antiseptic. They are also claimed to be useful in burn, eczema, wounds and eruptions, and used for treating the diseases of eyes, bronchitis, abdominal pains, itch, etc. Several workers reported that the Naphthaquinones (arnebins), the main active constituents of the drug, are responsible for its colour and therapeutic efficacy. It is claimed that the Arnebia nobilis was imported to India from Afghanistan but the red coloured roots resembling with A. nobilis were found to be gathered by local people for commercial purposes during the course of botanical surey of Himalayan region. Hence, it is decided to evaluate Arnebia nobilis pharmacognostically. The important macro-microscopic features of this species are roots 1-5 cm broad; outermost xylem with broad vessels and innermost with groups of radially arranged narrow vessels while the middle region occupied by alternate rings of clusters of broad and narrow vessels and presence of pith. Besides the percentage of arnebin-1, -3 and 4 are 9.37, 10.53 and 1.72 respectively.

A clinical report indicates that 'Geijibokryunghwan(GBH) is very effective in treating thrombosis in those patients who have difficulties with more conventional antithrombotic drugs. The isolation and identification of various compounds from this plant and the same genus have been reported by several groups. However, the pharmaceutical effect of the GBH on superoxide generation in human neutrophils has not been studied. In the present report, we investigated the possibility of using herbal medicine as an alternative therapy. In particular, we studied tremor in antiatheroscleosis. In this report, we shows the GBH extract can be used as a potential atherosclerosis preventive agent in human. The effect of GBH on stimulus-induced superoxide generation and phosphorylation of tyrosine residues of protein in human neutrophils was investigated. In a conclusion, GBH suppressed tyrosine phosphorylase in a dose-dependent manner, and may have pharmacoceutical applications. These data suggest that GBH extracts merits investigation as a potential anti-atherosclerogenic agent in humans.
