These results were efficient to infer and classify bang-yaghabpyeon prescription effectiveness.
Objectives : The rapid progress seen in the Chinese medical and pharmaceutical industries since the mid.Ming Dynasty, and the resulting surge in demand for medicinal herbs led to the emergence of dedicated medicinal herb markets. A representative example was the medicinal herb market of Qizhou (today's Anguo) in Hebei Province. This paper examines various factors that contributed to the transformation and growth of Qizhou into and as a major medicinal herb market of China. Methods : Along with the examination of geographical factors, this study attempts to link the development of Qizhou as a center for medicinal herbs trade with legends related to the Medicine Lord Temple (Yao Wang Miao), a local shrine dedicated to the mythical Medicine Kings. Results : The main argument of this study is that although the emergence of Qizhou as China's largest marketplace for medicinal herbs was significantly helped by its proximity to Beijing, a huge source of demand, as well as its convenient location easily accessible from all parts of the country, and the large herbal production from surrounding areas, the single.most important contributing factor was the body of legends attributing to this city a magical healing energy. Conclusions : The example of Qizhou may also suggest that in pre.modern eras, legends related to supernatural healing power, associated to a city or town, were as important contributing factors to its emergence and growth as a dedicated medicinal herb market as its location or ease of access.
Ginseng, a Korean native herb, has been a symbol of mystic cure-all which provides longevity benefits throughout Korean history. According to Chinese historical records, a major source of wild ginseng has been described as Korean peninsula, which is the most suitable ginseng production area, and the Manchu region near Mt. Baekdu and the Maritime Province. Since Tang dynasty period (618-917 CE), Chinese has also called ginseng as "Goryeo Ginseng", which is named after "Goguryeo" (37 BCE-668 CE), an ancient kingdom of Korea, from which they mainly imported the herb as the region was famous for its high quality of ginseng. To date, it refers to Korean ginseng. This study compares the medicinal properties of ginseng as stated in the ancient Korean medical books with the major Korean historical records regarding the usage of ginseng and its symbolism of longevity in everyday life. By contrasting these findings, we tried to figure out how the actual medicinal properties of ginseng and the anticipation of longevity are related. It was confirmed that the expectations about longevity were widely applied to everyday life. In addition, the study investigates the various usage of ginseng as a motive for decorative patterns and as an ingredient for daily products including snacks, health drinks, various types of food, clothing patterns, and so on. Finally, the usage of ginseng ingredients in the cosmetic products fulfilled the desire of Korean people to purchase, showing the aesthetic recognition and medicinal understandings about the herb. These findings suggest that ginseng is an important medicinal agent that not only symbolizes longevity and good health but also has a great influence on the lives of Koreans.
Objectives : This study was conducted to infer the effect of superficies-resolveing herbs by analyzing effect terms which have extracted and refined, based on four temperatures and five tastes. Methods : Firstly, temperatures, tastes and effect terms were extracted from the 27 kinds of superficies-resolving herbs written in Herbology. Then, each effect terms was divided into single meaning term and refined as typical term, using the inclusive effect terms I established. After that, herbs were grouped by tastes and found the effect terms which are mentioned most frequently. Results & Conclusions : All the superficies-resolving herbs can have wind-dispelling effect and superficies-resolving effect, except Bulpleuri Radix. This herb is able to has just the wind-dispelling effect. And it's more appropriate to categorize Bulpleuri Radix to heat-clearing herb group than superficies-resolving herb group, considering its several, distinctly cold characteristics. Some effects are concentrated to wind-cold-dispersing herb group and others to wind-heat-dispersing herb group. Each tastes has its own representative effect group.
Objectives : Since its enactment in 1987, the 56 standard prescriptions covered by insurance have remained unchanged from its original version. In this study, we tried to discover most frequently used herbal combinations by analyzing prescriptions used in actual clinical settings. And We have found out the most frequently used herbal combination. Conclusions : In this study, We can suggest new method to decide what do we need on insurance prescriptions.
Objectives : The aim of this paper is finding the combinations of the medicinal herbs that are used frequently by analyzing the details of the herbal medicinal prescriptions used by the patients who were diagnosed with M54 code diseases. In addition, I will seek to assess the demonstrative pattern that frequently manifest in the M54 code disease patients by using the combinations of the medicinal herbs that are used frequently. Methods : After having extracted the prescription administered to the patients with the diagnostic code of M54, find the relevance with the demonstrative pattern by analyzing the combination for each of the medicinal herb effectiveness. Use the list of medicinal herbs utilized in the corresponding prescription to examine the most frequent combination of the medicinal herbs through the generation of up to 25 arbitrary combinations of the medicinal herbs. Results & Conclusions : As the results of the analysis of the details of the use of the prescribed herbal medicine packages by the Korean Medicine Hospital of Pusan National University, regarding the back pain of the diagnostic code M54, the prescriptions that corresponded to the kidney deficiency pattern, static blood pattern, wind pattern, dampness pattern, food accumulation pattern, qi depression pattern and phlegm-retained fluid pattern back pain among the back pain classifications under the Dongeuibogam (東醫寶鑑) were used frequently, and, regarding the Nape Pain, prescriptions that corresponded to the pain arising from the wind-dampness and phlegm the 'Taeyang meridian' was most frequent.
As a result of study on the names of local medicinal herbs which described in Chobu (Chapter of Grass) of Korean medical book Bonchojeonghwa, we came to the following conclusions. 1) Compared with the existing domestic medical books' local medicinal herb names, those of Donguibogam had the closest relationship with Bonchojeonghwa. Out of local medicinal herb names described in Chobu of Bonchojeonghwa, a third is only shown in Bonchojeonghwa, and another third is same as those in Donguibogam. 2) The notation of local medicinal herb names in Bonchojeonghwa is not so consistent as Donguibogam. In Bonchojeonghwa, we can see many examples of inconsistent notations over the same thing. Moreover, there are some examples, which are suspected to be an expression of dialect. 3) In spite of close similarity between the names of local medicinal herbs in Bonchojeonghwa and Donguibogam, the author of Bonchojeonghwa doesn't seem to directly refer to or quote Donguibogam, because it doesn’t make sense that the author of Bonchojeonghwa intentionally referred to regular, consistent Donguibogam in irregular, inconsistent way. 4) In spite of very low possibility of direct reference or quotation among Bonchojeonghwa, Donguibogam and Bangyakhappyon, there are many examples of common format in its notation way on local medicinal herbs, which cannot be explained only as coincidence. And it tells us that there must be another publication which had been referred to or quoted by the said three medical books. 5) From the fact that there are a lot of examples of local medicinal herb names which doesn't show palatalization, or labialization, the names of local medicinal herbs described in Bonchojeonghwa must be the expression around 17th century.

This research aims to find a way to utilize the literature to select the herbs to be added or subtracted according to the condition of the patient after determining the basic prescription to be used for the patient. The study is based on data concerning the herbal composition and application of prescriptions described in the Donguibogam. The composition herbs was expressed as a weight ratio, the standard deviation of the weight ratio was calculated for each prescription, and the case where the weight ratio was greater than the base value (highest weight ratio - standard deviation) was designated as a principal herb. The various expressions of applications were changed to representative terms by the researcher and used to calculate the frequency. Of the 4,373 prescriptions for Donguibogam, 3,307 were able to be expressed in terms of weight ratios with 640 prescriptions using Rehmannia glutinosa, Cnidium officinale, Angelica gigas and Paeonia lactiflora as the principle herb. Of the 640 prescriptions, 508 prescriptions included applied information. Rehmannia glutinosa can also be used for symptoms such as fetal leakage(胎漏), short ingestion(食少), fever(發熱), dazed expression(眼花). Cnidium officinale can also be used for symptoms such as migraine(偏頭痛), stroke(中風癱瘓), tetanus(破傷風). Angelica gigas can also be used for symptoms such as forgetfulness(健忘), incontinence of urination(小便不通), palpitations(驚悸). Paeonia lactiflora can also be used for symptoms such as heart pain and abdominal pain(心腹痛), cough(咳嗽).
