Densified Pellet Fuel Using Woody Core of Industrial Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) as an Agricultural waste (농업부산물인 산업용 대마(Cannabis sativa L.) 목부를 이용한 고밀화 펠릿 연료)

  • We prepared densified wood pellet by agricultural waste. The hemp woody core was used as replacing wood resource. Hemp was separated into the bast fiber and the woody core by hot steaming treatment. The hemp woody core had a similar lignin content(19.4%) and carbohydrate composition with hardwood(20-25% lignin in hardwood), respectively. Also, the hemp had a low ash content(0.5%), which resulted in a low ash formation in pellet burning. Heating value of the hemp pellet(18.40 MJ/kg) had a very similar to the pellet made by hardwoods. The hemp woody core could be replaced the hardwood for densified wood pellet.

Variation of Sex Ratio and Its Relationship with some Major Characteristics Collection of Hemp (대마 수집 계통의 성비 변이와 주요 특성과의 관계)

  • The physiological variation and major characteristics of the collected hemp from Mokpo and Suwon region are studied for the basic materials of hemp dioecism's developmental rate adjustment and the physiological function. The results ate following. Female's flowering date in Aug., 10, and male’s in July, 26. In sex ratio, The collected hemp from Mokpo is $47{\sim}53%$ and Suwon in $49{\sim}51%$. The correlation between many other charaoters and sex ratio Show a negative correlation in male. Flowering date, stem diameter, fresh stem yield and hemp skin yield show a psitive correlation. Fiber leght and hemp skin yield show a negative correlation.

Permanent Characteristics of the Handsheet Mixed with Hemp Bast Fiber (삼 인피섬유 혼합율이 종이의 보존 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Despite the ubiquity of electronic media, paper is still the most generally readable carrier of information. Because paper materials are deteriorated by chemical, biological and physical factors over time, there have been major concerns about the decay of large collections of books, publications, old maps, historical artifacts, and written records. Therefore, manufacture of permanent paper has been a highly debated issue in paper conservation research. Through the use of permanent paper, our new records, journals, library books, art works, and all culturally and historically important documents can be preserved. In this study, handsheets were made of mixture of hemp bast fiber produced by soda pulping and HwBKP varying the amount of hemp. Physical, mechanical and optical properties of each handsheet were examined. As the ratio of hemp bast fiber increased, mechanical properties were improved significantly, but opacity decreased. After aging, the optical properties of the handsheets mixed with the hemp bast fiber more decreased than those of the non-mixed handsheet. The more mixture ratio of hemp bast fiber increased, the more decreasing rate of optical properties increased. As a result, it was confirmed that hemp bast fiber is a very promising resource for the manufacturing of permanent paper.

Compressive and Flexural Properties of Hemp Fiber Reinforced Concrete

  • The compressive and flexural properties of hemp fiber reinforced concretes (FRC) were examined in this paper. Natural hemp fiber was mixed using dry and wet mixing methods to fabricate the FRC. Mechanical properties of the FRC were investigated. The main factors affecting compressive and flexural properties of the FRC materials were evaluated with an orthogonal test design. Fiber content by weight has the largest effect. The method for casting hemp FRC has been optimised. Under the optimum conditions, compressive strength increased by 4 %, flexural strength increased by 9 %, flexural toughness increased by 144 %, and flexural toughness index increased by 214 %.

  • Since HEMP has the very short rising time and propagates widespreadly with several tens of kV/m, it threatens most of systems in its cover range. Therefore, it is important to research coupling mechanism into systems and establish countermeasures for the HEMP to protect systems effectively. This paper analyzed characteristics and trends of currents to be induced at the load of a line which is located over ground with different conditions such as polarization, incidence angle, line length and height etc. We applied double exponential waveform as the HEMP shape and used BLT method to analyze the coupling route into the line. Also, we compared the simulation data of chain matrix modeling to verify reliability of BLT modeling. In the result, two data is almost agreed.

  • This research shows problems of modem Mourning Garments used in Gwangju area compared to traditional ones. Researches are as fellowed; First, items of mourning garments have been not used by degrees. Male has worn Jung-Dan and Du-ru-mak-i as Pyo-Eui of male mourning garments. Second, mourning garments have been simplified and modified. These simplification in shape and uniformity in size are only far Mass production and convenient manufacture. Third, modem mourning garments are made of 6-su (thin) Hemp cloth. In fact this material has no hemp and is just made of cotton and chemical textiles. Even though it is not made of hemp, it has been sold with the name of Hemp Cloth. Materials should be clearly listed. Forth, traditional mourning garments are manufactured through needlework while modern ones through mass production. Now the former is expensive rather than the latter. So Mass produced garments would be preferred to traditional made ones.

A Study on the labor organization for the Andong-Po(hemp cloth) (안동포 생산에 따른 길쌈노동교환직)

  • This article is concentrated on the organization for labor exchange in producing hemp cloth at Geumso-ri, Imha-myoun, Andong city. The organization is called "Sam-dool-ge", and it is different from the organization for labor exchange in producing rice because it is managed by women mostly. ln harvesting hemp, same amount of labor and expenses are invested. Especially, labor is supplied in equal condition. In spinning hemp cloth, the work is shared on the basis of same tech level. In threading the warp and fastening hemp cloth. the work conducted collaborately under the best engineer's direction. "Sam-dool-ge", a gil-sam labor exchange, also presents cultural creativity which produces and inherits the folkloric tradition, and also has the quality as a rite of passage. Nowadays, producing hem cloth is for pursuiting of profits than for making clothes as it used to be. This tradition will be lasted at least for a while because some young generations are beginning to participate in and old generation is teaching them good.

A Study on Shose Using Straw and Hemp (초.마혜에 관한 연구)

  • Though many thousands years of long history of Korea, many changes have taken place in politics, economy, culture, religion, arts and science, but the writer, in this thesis, has traced historical development of footwear that common people use as one of necessities of human life. Since the footwear is included in clothing, the history of footwear may be also traced along with the history of clothing. In the beginning, the shoes were only made to serve the purpose of protection of feet. As time passed by, the purpose gradually developed the skill in making shoes. Taking a historical of straw and hemp into consideration, I have studied on shoes using straw and hemp in this thesis. The history of straw and hemp can be retroacted to the beginning stage of the human culture. These straw and hemp have been developed over and over again for long time and it has its own distintion inquality so that these refined products used by noble men and these careless ones were used by the common people. In Japan, these straw and hemp were effected by the influence of typical continental climate, made characteristic shape. Since 1930s rubber shoes were introduced to Korea and traditional Korean shoes came to disappear in Korean market. Because of this, we now can see the traditional Korean shoes only in the windows of Museum.

A Study on the Change of fine Structure of Hemp Cellulose (안동포원료 Hemp Cellulose의 미세구조에 관한 연구)

  • This study was investigation of the change of fine structure of hemp cellulose at different growing stages. The samples collected about every eight day were divided into seven groups based on plants height, then they were numbered from 1 to 7 in the order of their height. For this, the degree of crystallinity, orientation and crystallite size were measured by wide angle X-ray diffraction method. The results of this experiment were summerized as follows ; 1) The degree of crystallinity was increased by growth of hemp celtilose to be maximum in sample 5$\~$6. At this stage, the stability of crystals was showed in good states. In addition to, crystallinity index by Segal, Turley and area method showed same tendency as Ruland's. 2) The change of orientation was gradually increased by growth of hemp cellulose. This result was correlated with the degree of crystallinity. Therefore, the change of orientation depend on the degree of crystallinity. 3) On the other hand, the crystallite size was decreased by growth of hemp cellulose. But, increased after sample 4. By the way, crystallite size was interrelated with growth rate.

Effects of feeding evening primrose oil and hemp seed oil on the deposition of gamma fatty acid in eggs (삼씨유와 달맞이유의 급여가 계란 내 감마지방산 축적에 미치는 영향)

  • Hemp seed oil and evening primrose oil were incorporated into the diets of laying hens for 5 weeks and the level of gamma fatty acid in the eggs that the treated hens laid was then evaluated. Hens were fed corn-soybean based diets that contained 5% tallow, 5% corn oil (CO), 5% hemp seed oil (HSO), or 5% evening primrose oil (EPO). The hemp seed oil and evening primrose oil influenced the amount of gamma linolenic acid found in the eggs through blood. The level of gamma linolenic acid in the plasma was significantly higher in hens that received the HSO and EPO diets than in those that received the tallow and CO diets. The HSO and EPO diets led to a 1.09% and 4.87% increase in egg gamma linolenic acids, respectively, when compared with eggs produced by hens treated with tallow and CO. Taken together, these data demonstrate that healthy eggs with increased gamma linolenic acids can be generated by minor diet modifications when hemp seed oil or evening primrose oil is included in the hen diet.
