  • 무지개송어, Oncorhynchus mykiss 난황자어의 부상기 이전까지의 부화일수에 따른 전장(TL)성장식은 $TLt=2.7e^{-1.24{\cdot}e^{-0.11t}}(r^{2}=0.66)$, 전중(TW)성장식은 $TWt=1.8e^{-2.03{\cdot}e^{-0.11t}}(r^{2}=0.66)$, 체세포중량(SW)성장식은 $SWt=1.8e^{-5.41{\cdot}e^{-0.13t}}(r^{2}=0.83)$로 나타났다. 부화일수 경과에 따른 난황장, 난황고, 난황부피는 감소를 나타내는 직선식이였다. 전중-전장, 체세포중량-전장, 난황장-전장, 난황고-전장, 난황부피-전장, 난황중-전장, 난황중-전중, 난황중-난황고 및 난황중-난황장의 성장형질간의 상대성장식은 부화일 경과에 따라 난황홉수 경향을 반영하였다.

Application of UAV-based RGB Images for the Growth Estimation of Vegetable Crops

  • On-site monitoring of vegetable growth parameters, such as leaf length, leaf area, and fresh weight, in an agricultural field can provide useful information for farmers to establish farm management strategies suitable for optimum production of vegetables. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are currently gaining a growing interest for agricultural applications. This study reports on validation testing of previously developed vegetable growth estimation models based on UAV-based RGB images for white radish and Chinese cabbage. Specific objective was to investigate the potential of the UAV-based RGB camera system for effectively quantifying temporal and spatial variability in the growth status of white radish and Chinese cabbage in a field. RGB images were acquired based on an automated flight mission with a multi-rotor UAV equipped with a low-cost RGB camera while automatically tracking on a predefined path. The acquired images were initially geo-located based on the log data of flight information saved into the UAV, and then mosaicked using a commerical image processing software. Otsu threshold-based crop coverage and DSM-based crop height were used as two predictor variables of the previously developed multiple linear regression models to estimate growth parameters of vegetables. The predictive capabilities of the UAV sensing system for estimating the growth parameters of the two vegetables were evaluated quantitatively by comparing to ground truth data. There were highly linear relationships between the actual and estimated leaf lengths, widths, and fresh weights, showing coefficients of determination up to 0.7. However, there were differences in slope between the ground truth and estimated values lower than 0.5, thereby requiring the use of a site-specific normalization method.

Evaluating intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility in histometric measurement: one-wall intrabony periodontal defects in beagle dogs

  • Purpose: Accurate and exact measurement is an important factor for generating meaningful results in any properly designed study. If all the participating examiners are able to yield similar results, it will be possible to evaluate the objective results of the study more easily and quickly. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility of histometric measurements in the intrabony periodontal defect model. Methods: One wall intrabony defects were surgically created at the distal aspect of the second and the medial aspect of the fourth mandibular premolars in the right and left jaw quadrants in twenty beagle dogs and the defect sites received the following ${\beta}$-tri calcium phosphate, growth differentiation factor-0, growth differentiation factor-100 and sham surgery. Histometric analysis was performed after 8 weeks. Histometric parameters were recorded and repeated at three months interval by three examiners. Intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility was assessed. Results: Most parameters of all the groups showed high intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility. Parameters including defect height, bone regeneration height, cementum regeneration height, and formation of junctional epithelium yielded interexaminer correlation ${\geq}0.9$. The intra-examiner reproducibility showed a high result, over 0.9. Conclusions: Histometric evaluation of the one-wall intra-alveolar periodontal defect model showed high reproducibility not only for a single given examiner but also among the three examiners.

완전제어형 식물공장에서 선형지수함수를 이용한 들깨의 생육 모델링 (Growth Modeling of Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt. Using Expolinear Function in a Closed-type Plant Factory System)

  • 식물공장에서 생육 모델링은 안정적인 생산과 수확량을 조절하는 데 필수적일 뿐만 아니라 환경 데이터와 생육량의 관계를 비교하여 환경 조건을 제어할 수 있는 도구가 되기도 한다. 본 연구는 식물공장에서 재배하는 들깨[Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt.]에 대해 선형지수함수를 이용해 모델링하였다. 광도, 광주기, 혼합광의 비율을 각각 130μmol·m-2·s-1, 12/12시간, R:G:B(7:1:2)로 설정하여 정식한 후 화아분화가 발생할 때까지 12회 생육 조사하였고, 건물중과 생체중 예측을 위해 선형지수함수를 이용하여 모델링하였다. 생체중과 건물중 간의 상관계수는 가장 높은 양의 상관관계(r = 0.996)를 보였고, 생체중과의 관계에서 건물중을 제외하면 엽면적, 초장, 엽수, 마디수, 엽장, 엽폭의 순으로 높은 양의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 생육 예측을 위한 독립변수로 정식 후 일수, 엽면적과 초장을 사용하였는데, 생육 예측을 위한 적합한 독립변수로는 엽면적이었다. 다만, 생육을 예측하기 위한 파괴적인 방법 또는 비파괴적인 방법에 대해 고려해야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서 식물공장에서 들깨의 생육을 예측하기 위한 생육 모델식을 만들었다.

Estimation of Highland Kimchi Cabbage Growth using UAV NDVI and Agro-meteorological Factors

  • For more than 50 years, satellite images have been used to monitor crop growth. Currently, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery is being assessed for analyzing within field spatial variability for agricultural precision management, because UAV imagery may be acquired quickly during critical periods of rapid crop growth. This study refers to the derivation of growth estimating equation for highland Kimchi cabbage using UAV derived normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and agro-meteorological factors. Anbandeok area in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, Korea is one of main districts producing highland Kimchi cabbage. UAV imagery was taken in the Anbandeok ten times from early June to early September. Meanwhile, three plant growth parameters, plant height (P.H.), leaf length (L.L.) and outer leaf number (L.N.), were measured for about 40 plants (ten plants per plot) for each ground survey. Six agro-meteorological factors include average temperature; maximum temperature; minimum temperature; accumulated temperature; rainfall and irradiation during growth period. The multiple linear regression models were suggested by using stepwise regression in the extraction of independent variables. As a result, $NDVI_{UAV}$ and rainfall in the model explain 93% of the P.H. and L.L. with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 2.22, 1.90 cm. And $NDVI_{UAV}$ and accumulated temperature in the model explain 86% of the L.N. with a RMSE of 4.29. These lead to the result that the characteristics of variations in highland Kimchi cabbage growth according to $NDVI_{UAV}$ and other agro-meteorological factors were well reflected in the model.

  • Hydrodynamic Thermal Capilary Model developed previously has been modified to study the transport phenomena in the Czochralski process. Our analysis is focused on the heat transfer in the system, convection in the melt phase, and the meniscus and interface shape. Four major forces drive melt flow in the crucible, which include thermal buoyancy force in the melt, thermocapillary force along the curved meniscus, crucible rotation and crystal rotation. Individual flow mechanism due to each driving force has been examined to determine its interaction with the meniscus and interface shape. A nominal 4-inch-diameter silicon crystal growth process is chosen as a subject for analysis. Heater temperature profile for constant diameter crystal is also present as a function of crystal height or fraction solidified.

인공산성비가 돌피와 바랭이의 생장과 경쟁에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Artificial Acid Rain on the Growth and Competition of Echinochloa crus-galli and Digitaria sanguinalis)

  • The effects of simulated acid rain on the growth and interspecific competition of Echinochloa crus-galli and Digitaria sanguinalis were studied. Changes of growth in height and dry weight were examined and competition between the two species was investigated using the experimental model proposed by de Wit (1960). The experiments were carried out in the greenhouse, and test plants were germinated and grown for 4 weeks and then sprayed with simulated acid rain of pH 5.6, 4.2 and 2.8 for another 8 weeks. In de Wit replacement experiments, the variation of density and the treatment of simulated acid rain showed little effect on the interspecific competition between E. Crus-galli and D.sanguinalis. The ratio diagram, another method to reveal the interrelations between two competing species, always showed the predominance of E. crus-galli in competition, regardless of density and pH. The interspecific competition of the two species, represented by relative yield total (RYT), revealed that intraspecific competition was stronger than interspecific competition in both species.The treatment of simulated acid rain showed little effect on the growth of E. Crus-galli and D. sanguinalis. Height growth of both species did not differ from that of control (pH 5.6), but root/shoot ratio increased with the decrease in pH of simulated acid rain. Growth of tatal dry weight of E. crus-galli and D. sanguinalis was not influenced by the change of pH, except that D.sanguinalis showed a decrease in the total dry weight at pH 2.8 along with a visible sign of white spots on leaves. Physical environmental conditions can exert an effect on the interrelationships between the two species, but this experiment did not show the reversion of competition, and showed that E.crus-gilli was competitively dominant under any environmental conditions given in this study.

Nutritional status of toddlers and preschoolers according to household income level: overweight tendency and micronutrient deficiencies

  • BACKGROUNDS/OBJECTIVES: The effects of malnutrition on growth of toddlers and preschoolers by socioeconomic status are not well known. This study aimed to examine the effects of dietary intake on growth outcomes in toddlers and preschoolers by household income level. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The study population was a total of 1,687 children aged 1 to 5 years that participated in the KNHANES from 2009 to 2011. Growth of children was assessed by height for age (HFA) and weight for height (WFH). Children were classified into three groups according to children's HFA and WFH compared to the $10^{th}$ and $90^{th}$ percentiles of the 2007 Korean Children and Adolescent Growth Standard. Average monthly household income was divided into quartile groups. Dietary intake data were obtained by using the one day 24-hr recall method. Risks of inadequate intake of nutrients and unfavorable growth were estimated by using a multiple logistic regression model adjusted for sex, age, region, and energy intake. RESULTS: The low HFA group (<$10^{th}$ percentile) had significantly lower intakes of energy, carbohydrate, and thiamin as compared with the high group (${\geq}90^{th}$ percentile). For WFH status, vitamin C intake was lower in the low group than in the high group. Household income level was related to WFH status but not HFA. Children from lower income households were more likely to have high WFH than those from higher income households (P for trend = 0.038). Household income status was also significantly related with risk of inadequate intake of micronutrients such as thiamin (P for trend = 0.032) and vitamin C (P for trend = 0.002), showing higher odds of inadequate intakes in children from lower income households. CONCLUSIONS: Children from lower income households were prone to be overweight and to have inadequate intakes of micronutrients such as thiamin and vitamin C. To reduce nutritional and health disparities, collective action in the public sector is required from early life.

Windows용 수간석해(樹幹析解) 프로그램(Stemwin1.0)의 개발(開發) (Development of Stem Analysis Program(Stemwin1.0) for Windows)

  • 본 연구에서는 PC기반의 Windows운영체제에서 운용될 수 있는 수간석해 프로그램(Stemwin1.0)을 개발하였다. Stemwin1.0에서는 연륜측정기에서 1/100mm 단위로 측정된 l년 단위의 연륜폭 자료를 입력받아 흉고직경 및 단면적, 수고, 재적 등 각종 생장량을 다양한 방법으로 계산할 수 있다. 즉, 수령별 평균 흉고직경 및 단면적은 산술 및 단면적 평균법을 적용해 계산할 수 있으며, 수고생장은 평행선법, 직선연장법, 수고곡선법 등에 의해 다양하게 추정할 수 있다. 재적은 Huber식, Smalian식, Spline식 등을 선택적으로 적용해 추정할 수 있다. 선택된 계산방법에 따라 상가 각 생장인자의 총, 평균 및 연년 생장량 뿐만 아니라 이용재적 및 수고, 형수, 생장률 이용률 등의 생장 관련 정보가 1년 단위로 자동 계산된다. 또한, 1년 단위의 정밀한 간곡선도를 다양한 축척으로 출력할 수 있으며 간곡선식 유도를 위한 통계분석용 자료(단판 높이별 직경)도 제시된다. Stemwin1.0에서는 계산결과를 MS-Excel로 전환할 수 있도록 하여 사용자가 손쉽게 활용할 수 있도록 하였다.

수간재적모델에 따른 일본잎갈나무의 수간재적 추정 및 비교 (Estimation and Comparison of Stem Volume for Larix kaempferi in South Korea using the Stem Volume Model)

  • 본 연구는 수간재적과 상관관계가 높은 흉고직경과 수고를 독립변수로 하여 우리나라 일본잎갈나무의 수간재적 추정식을 개발하고자 하였다. 전국의 분포하고 있는 일본잎갈나무를 총 2,840본의 표준목을 벌채하여 수간고별 직경과 수간석해 자료를 수집하여 생장특성을 조사하였다. 6개의 수간재적모델의 적합도 검정을 위하여 적합도지수, 편차, 평균절대편차, 변이계수를 이용하여 모델의 적합성을 판단하였다. 최종 선정된 모델은 흉고직경만을 이용한 Model 1(V=a+bDBH2), 흉고직경과 수고를 이용한 Model 4(V=a+bDBH2H)가 최적의 모델로 선정되었다. 비선형회귀분석을 통한 모델의 절편과 기울기계수인 a, b는 0.05수준에서 통계적으로 유의한 값을 보였다. 적합도지수는 94%~99%로 나타났고, 편차는 두 모델이 0에 근접하였으며, 평균절대편차는 0.01~0.05, 변이계수는 5.97~14.43으로 높은 적합도를 보였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 수간재적모델을 이용하여 현장에서 흉고직경 또는 흉고직경과 수고를 측정한 후 바로 재적을 추정할 수 있으며, 산림경영에 필요한 기초 정보를 제공해 줄 것이다.
