스털링 기관용 재생기에 관한 기초 연구 (IV) - 철선을 축열재로 한 재생기의 전열 및 유동손실 특성 - (Basic Study on the Regenerator of Stirling Engine (IV) - Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristic of the Regenerator with Steel Wire Matrix -)

  • The output of Stirling engine is influenced by the regenerator effectiveness. The regenerator effectiveness is influenced by heat transfer and flow friction loss of the regenerator matrix. In this paper, in order to provide a basic data for the design of regenerator matrix, characteristics of heat transfer and flow friction loss were investigated by a packed method of matrix in the oscillating flow as the same condition of operation in a Stirling engine. As matrices, 6 kinds of steel wires, 4 kinds of combined steel wires, 8 kinds of combined steel wires with screen meshes were used. The results are summarized as follows; Among 6 kinds of steel wires $({\phi}0.7\;mm,\;{\phi}0.9\;mm,\;{\phi}1.2\;mm,\;{\phi}\;1.6\;mm,\;{\phi}2.0\;mm,\;{\phi}2.7\;mm),$ the two steel wires $({\phi}0.7\;mm,\;{\phi}0.9\;mm)$ showed the highest in effectiveness. Among 4 kinds of combined steel wires $({\phi}l.6-{\phi}l.2\;mm,\;{\phi}1.2-{\phi}l.6\;mm,\;{\phi}0.9-{\phi}l.2\;mm,\;{\phi}l.2-{\phi}0.9\;mm),\;the\;{\phi}1.2-{\phi}0.9\;mm$ showed the highest in effectiveness. Among 8 kinds of combined steel wires with screen meshes $(150-{\phi}0.9\;mm,\;150-{\phi}l.2\;mm,\;{\phi}0.9\;mm-150,\;{\phi}1.2\;mm-150,\;150-{\phi}0.9\;mm-150,\;150-{\phi}1.2\;mm-150,\;150-{\phi}l.6\;mm-150,\;150-{\phi}2.0\;mm-150),\;the\;{\phi}l.2\;mm-150$ showed the highest in effectiveness.

디젤기관에서 경유/부탄올 혼합연료의 기관성능 및 연소특성 해석 (Analysis of performance and combustion characteristics of D.O./butanol blended fuels in a diesel engine)

  • In this study, to investigate the effect of physical and chemical properties of butanol on the engine performance and combustion characteristics, the coefficient of variations of IMEP (indicated mean effective pressure) and fuel conversion efficiency were obtained by measuring the combustion pressure and the fuel consumption quantity according to the engine load and the mixing ratio of diesel oil and butanol. In addition, the combustion pressure was analyzed to obtain the pressure increasing rate and heat release rate, and then the combustion temperature was calculated using a single zone combustion model. The experimental and analysis results of butanol blending oil were compared with the those of diesel oil under the similar operation conditions to determine the performance of the engine and combustion characteristics. As a result, the combustion stabilities of D.O. and butanol blending oil were good in this experimental range, and the indicated fuel conversion efficiency of butanol blending oil was slightly higher at low load but that of D.O. was higher above medium load. The premixed combustion period of D.O. was almost constant regardless of the load. As the load was lower and the butanol blending ratio was higher, the premixed combustion period of butanol blending oil was longer and the premixed combustion period was almost constant at high load regardless of butanol blending ratio. The average heat release rate was higher with increasing loads; especially as butanol blending ratio was increased at high load, the average heat release rate of butanol blending oil was higher than that of D.O. In addition, the calculated maximum. combustion temperature of butanol blending oil was higher than that of D.O. at all loads.

보수용접봉의 종류와 용접후 열처리가 용접금속부의 내식성에 미치는 영향에 관한 전기화학적 평가 (An Electrochemical Evaluation on the Corrosion Resistance of Welding Zone due to Kinds of Repair Welding Filler Metals and Post Weld Heat Treatment)

  • Recently a fuel oil of the diesel engine of the marine ship is being changed with heavy oil of low quality as the oil price is higher more and more. Therefore the wear and corrosion in all parts of the engine such as cylinder liner, piston crown, spindle and seat ring of exhaust valves are predominantly increased. In particular the degree of wear and corrosion of piston crown is more seriously compared to the other parts of the engine due to operating in severe environment such as the high temperature of exhaust gas and repeating impact. Thus the repair weldment of the piston crown is a unique method to prolong the its life in a economical point of view. In this case, filler metals having a high corrosion and wear resistance such as stellite 6, Inconel 625 and Inconel 718 are mainly being used for repair welding. However it has been often happened that piston crown on the ship,s job site is being actually inevitably welded with mild filler metals. Therefore in this study, filler metals such as E4301, E4313 and E4316 were welded at SS401 steel as the base metal, and corrosion property of their weld metals in the case of post weld heat treatment or not was investigated with some electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, cathodic and anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram and polarization resistance etc. in 0.1% $H_2SO_4$ solution. Corrosion resistance of the weld metal of E4301 was better than the other weld metals in the case of no heat treatment, however, its resistance was considerably decreased with post weld heat treatment(annealing:$625^{\circ}C$, 2 hr) compared to other weld metals. The weld metals of E4313 and E4316 showed a relatively good corrosion resistance by post weld heat treatment.

가스엔진용 유기랭킨사이클의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Construction of a Bottoming Organic Rankine Cycle System for an Natural Gas Engine)

  • 천연가스용으로 개조된 가스엔진에서 방출되는 폐열을 활용하기 위한 유기 랭킨사이클 (Organic Rankine Cycle: ORC) 발전시스템을 설계 및 제작하였다. 이 연구에서는 개조된 가스엔진의 폐열을 실험적으로 분석한 데이터를 바탕으로 구성한 ORC 시스템의 컴포넌트를 설계하고 제작하였다. ORC 시스템에는 2개의 판형 열교환기와 5kW급 팽창기, 다단 펌프가 사용되었으며, 전기 히터를 이용하여 ORC 시스템의 열역학적 성능을 분석하였다. 또한, 실제로 가스엔진과 연동하여 작동 특성을 파악하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. ORC 시스템에 열량을 공급해주는 2대의 가스엔진을 사용하였다. 열원모사실험 결과, 열원온도 $110^{\circ}C$에서 축동력 5.22kW가 발생, 압력비 7.41, 열효율 9.09%가 계산되어졌으며, 엔진연동실험에서는 고온수 온도 $86^{\circ}C$에서 축동력 2kW가 발생, 이 때의 압력비는 3.75, 열효율 6.45%가 계산되었다.

Corrosion Characteristics of Welding Zones Welded with 1.25Cr-0.5 Mo Filler Metal to Forged Steel for Piston Crown Material

  • A heavy oil of low quality has been mainly used in the diesel engine of the merchant ship as the oil price has been significantly jumped for several years. Thus, a combustion chamber of the engine has been often exposed to severely corrosive environment more and more because temperature of the exhaust gas of the combustion chamber has been getting higher and higher with increasing of using the heavy oil of low quality. As a result, wear and corrosion of the engine parts such as exhaust valve, piston crown and cylinder head surrounded with combustion chamber are more serious compared to the other parts of the engine. Therefore, an optimum repair welding for these engine parts is very important to prolong their lifetime in a economical point of view. In this study, 1.25Cr-0.5Mo filler metal was welded with SMAW method in the forged steel which would be generally used with piston crown material. And the corrosion properties of weld metal, heat affected and base metal zones were investigated using electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram and impedance etc. in 35% $H_2SO_4$ solution. The weld metal and base metal zones exhibited the highest and lowest values of hardness respectively. And, the corrosion resistance of the heat affected and weld metal zones was also increased than that of the base metal zone. Furthermore, it appeared that the corrosive products with red color and local corrosion like as a pitting corrosion were more frequently observed on the surface of the base metal zone compared to the heat affected and weld metal zones. Consequently, it is suggested that the mechanical and corrosion characteristics of the piston crown can be predominantly improved by repair welding method using the 1.25Cr-0.5Mo electrode.

내연기관(內燃機關) 배기(排氣)가스를 이용(利用)한 곡물가열기(穀物加熱機) 개발(開發) (Development of Grain Heater Using Engine Exhaust Gas)

  • A double pipe grain heater using engine exhaust gas as a heat source was developed. The performance of the grain heater was examined with soybeans as a test material experimentally and numerically using a mathematical model constructed. The following conclusions were drawn: 1. The modified screw conveyor used in the grain heater has a characteristic of decreasing capacity with increasing speed at speeds above 60 rpm. Operation with speeds below 60 rpm is recommended. 2. Heating soybeans by the heater at soybean flow rate up to 100 kg/hr, inlet temperature of the exhaust gas to the heater are recommended as above $400^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, and $200^{\circ}C$ roughly for a 2, 5, and 10 kW engine, respectively. 3. Temperature increments of soybean by the heater at soybean flow rates ranged from 25 to 100 kg/hr are in the ranges of $6^{\circ}C-35^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C-88^{\circ}C$, and $15^{\circ}C-140^{\circ}C$ with exhaust gas from a 2, 5, and 10 kW engine, respectively, at an exhaust temperature of $500^{\circ}C$. 4. Thermal efficiency of the heater at soybean flow rates ranged from 25 to 100 kg/hr are in the ranges of 35-37%, 28-34%, and 20-29% with exhaust gas from a 2, 5, and 10 kW engine, respectively. 5. The grain heater can be used to heat the other grain, also, without any bad effect from the exhaust gas used as a heat source.

디젤기관에 대한 앳킨슨사이클 구성과 사이클의 열역학적 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Composition of Atkinson Cycle and Thermodynamically Analysis for a Diesel Engine)

  • The present study composed a diesel-atkinson cycle of high expansion as a method of achieving high efficiency in diesel cycle engines. It also interpreted the cycle engine thermodynamically analysis to determine the possibility of the improvement of thermal efficiency and clarified the characteristics of several factors . According to the result of theoretical analysis, heat efficiency was highest when expansion-compression ratio Reど:1. In addition. diesel engines with high apparent compression ratio had higher expansion-compression ratio than otto engines and consequently their effect of high expansion was high. which in turn enhanced thermal efficiency. When the atkinson cycle was implemented in a real diesel engine by applying the miller cycle through the variation of the closing time of the intake valve, the effective compression ratio and the quantify of intake air decreased and as a result, the effect of high expansion was not observed. Accordingly. the atkinson cycle can be implemented when the quantity of intake air is compensated by supercharge and the effective compression ratio is maintained at its initial level through the reduction of the clearance volume. In this case. heat efficiency increased by $4.1\%$ at the same expansion-compression ratio when the apparent compression ratio was 20 and the fuel cut off ratio was 2. As explained above, when the atkinson cycle was used for diesel cycle. heat efficiency was improved. In order to realize high expansion through retarding the intake value closing time, the engine needs to be equipped with variable valve timing equipment, variable compression ratio equipment and supercharged Pressure equipment. Then a diesel-atkinson cycle engine is realized.

  • In recent, there are tremendous efforts to apply co-generation concept in automobile to improve its thermal efficiency. The co-generation is basically a simple Rankine Cycle that uses the waste heat from the engine exhaust and coolant for heat source. In spite of developed nano technology and advance material science, the bulky co-generation system is still a big concern in automotive application. Therefore, the system should be effectively designed not to add much weight on the vehicle, but the capacity of the waste heat recovery should be still large. With such a goal in mind, the system thermal efficiency was investigated in terms of the system operation condition and working fluid. This paper provides a direction for the optimal design of the automotive co-generation system.

연료 고온물성을 고려한 초음속 연소기 재생냉각 유로 설계 (Regenerative Cooling Channel Design of a Supersonic Combustor Considering High-Temperature Property of Fuel)

  • 초음속 연소기에 대해 연료에 의한 연소기 재생 냉각을 가정하여 재생 냉각 유로 형상 설계를 수행하였다. 준일차원 모델을 사용하여 고온 측 및 저온 측 유동 계산을 수행하였으며 이 과정에서 양쪽 사이의 열전달을 계산하였다. 기준 형상에서 총 열교환량은 10.7 kW, 열유속은 $566kW/m^2$, 열교환기 입출구에서의 연료 온도 변화는 153 K으로 계산되었다. 7개의 열교환기 유로 형상에 대하여 열전달 성능을 비교하였다.

직분식 디젤기관의 메탄올 흡기분사에 의한 기관성능과 배기배출물에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Engine Performance and Exhaust Emission with Intake Port Methanol Injection in a DI Diesel Engine)

  • In order to investigate the effectiveness of methanol, which has high latent heat of evaporation and oxygen contents, for DI diesel engine performance and exhaust emission, the methanol was injected at the suction port of DI diesel engine. The injector used for test was conventional gasoline engine injector and controlled the quantity of methanol per cycle by the power supply controller which designed specially for injector. The results shown that the maximum pressure point was delayed, the value of maximum pressure was decreased, and the concentrations of both NOx and Soot were decreased, as the methanol injection quantity increased, and also the thermal efficiency of engine injected methanol under the high load condition was similar to no methanol injection but under the medium load condition was decreased within the experimental conditions.
