Background: South Korea is rapidly being an aging-society and the demand of long-term care insurance services for elderly patients is rising. In addition, because the elderly taking multiple medicines, the adherence is lowered and the adverse events are easily occurred. Therefore, many are interested in introducing the geriatric pharmacy specialist to manage this situation. Methods: We conducted a trial in an elderly nursing home to collaborate between doctor and pharmacist making a checklist for improving medication adherence and establish a consultation system. Also we applied a smart phone application in the pharmaceutical care processes. Results: Thereby completing the drug therapy related checklist apply to nursing facilities in South Korea. And we got a performance that improves medication adherence when used in the clinical practice settings. Conclusion: By introducing a training program of pharmacy care managers and geriatric professionals such as the United States and Japan, we revealed the elderly nursing home residents and vulnerable elderly people living alone were improved the medication adherence and it will contributed to the health and quality of life of the patients.
The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of the supportive nursing care for arthritis patients enrolled in a rheumatoid clinic. To achieve this purpose, this study adopted a quasi-experimental, pre- and post-test research design, categorized subjects into experimental and control groups. Outpatient clinic nurse alloted the subjects by experimental and control groups and nurse researcher meets the experimental subject with in-depth, direct personal interview and advices via telephone for 8 weeks. During this pre and after the treatment period, the level of pain, uncertainty, self-efficacy, family support, and perception for health were measured. Analyses for the measured results for pre- and post-test showed that the supportive program conducted during this study decreased the level of uncertainty and increased the perception of family support in experimental group. So, the supportive healing interpersonal communication service proved to be effective and this result justifies the argument that the role of the nursing professionals at out-patient clinic should be extended for the more qualified care for the patient.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate parent expectation and satisfaction with respect to pediatric inpatient care and to identify the variables related to parent satisfaction. Methods: The study was conducted in pediatric wards of a tertiary children's hospital in Korea. The participants were 361 parents of children who were inpatients. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire (The Pediatric Family Satisfaction Questionnaire) at the time of discharge. Results: The highest parent expectation domain was medical service. The parents were most satisfied with nursing service and least satisfied with general hospital service and accommodation. The parents expressed lower satisfaction with hospital facilities, equipment, noise, cleanliness, and communication by health care professionals. Parents with younger children reported higher expectation from the complete hospital service and those who had a longer length of stay reported higher expectation from the nursing service. In addition, the general hospital service and accommodation should not be overlooked for improvement.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of self-help programs which had been conducted at each health center of Seoul using the protocol developed by Korean Rheumatology Health Professionals Society(KRHPS). This program was developed to initially increase self-efficacy, and then to decrease the symptoms and finally to increase the functions of the patients. This study was designed as one group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires for 140 out of 303 program participants, and only 102 subjects were analyzed because of missing values. The subjects were composed of 25.5% of rheumatoid arthritis patients and 60.8% of degenerative arthritis patients. The results showed that arthritis self-help program was effective in increasing self-efficacy and then improving pain, fatigue, depression, and activities of daily living. But the number of pain sites was not decreased. This result explains that degenerative arthritis patients composed of more than half of the participants has less number of pain sites than rheumatoid arthritis, and their pain was not completely relieved. As a result, it was confirmed that arthritis patients' physical and psychological states can be improved by self-help program in the community. These findings emphasize the implication of this program for each institute to promote health of arthritis patients.
