The purpose of this article is to provide preliminary findings on the state of digital technology applications of startups in Southeast Asia and to discuss issues related to digital health adoption in the region. This exploratory study is based on an empirical analysis of startups and digital technology applications information from various publicly available website databases. Public and private organizations would benefit from a better understanding of the current state of digital technology applications provided by startups and the challenges faced in digital health adoption. This article contributes to the existing literature by offering an overview of startups and digital technology applications in the digital health space in the fast-growing region of Southeast Asia. It offers advice to organizations intending to pursue healthtech initiatives on the types of health services provided by startups and issues that need to be addressed to increase the adoption rate.

Purpose: This study was to evaluate the quality of online health information related to infants and preschoolers accessible through mobile applications and websites. Methods: Using combinations of the terms 'infant', 'preschooler', and 'health' as the main keyword or categories, the researchers searched relevant mobile applications and websites in Korean application markets and popular search engines. Twelve mobile application and 14 websites were finally selected according to our inclusion criteria and evaluated using DISCERN instrument. Results: The overall quality score of online health information available through mobile applications was 2.00 of 5 points, the reliability score was 2.15, and the quality score was 1.76. The overall quality score of online health information available through websites was 2.29, the reliability score was 2.40, and the quality score was 1.82. Conclusion: The quality of online health information related to young children was found to be low and to have potentially significant drawbacks according to DISCERN criteria. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a system to evaluate and regulate the quality of online health information. Additionally, factors that readers can use to judge the quality of health information, such as references and the benefit versus risks of the information, should be provided.

Objectives: The self-management of chronic diseases is currently receiving much attention. This study applied an extended technology acceptance model (ETAM) to analyze the factors influencing acceptance of a healthcare smartphone application. Methods: Three hundred people living in Seoul and Gyeonggi who used smartphones were quota sampled. A telephone survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire based on ETAM. A path analysis was carried out using the AMOS 17.0 program, and the model was verified. Results: The analysis revealed significant factors of perceived usefulness (.374, p < .001), enjoyment (.210, p < .001), subjective norms (.168, p < .001), perceived costs (.146, p < .001), and innovativeness (.138, p < .001). Cost directly influenced intention to use health applications; self-efficacy and perceived ease of use indirectly affected intention through innovation and perceived usefulness. Conclusions: This study helped to identify the main factors that influence usage intention of smartphone applications. These findings could contribute to promoting the self-management of chronic disease through future health applications using smartphones.

The development of information technology leads to changes in various industries. In particular, the health care industry is more influenced so that it is focused on. With the widening of the health care market, the market of smart device based personal health care also draws attention. Since a variety of fitness applications for smartphone based exercise were introduced, more interest has been in the health care industry. But although an amount of use of mobile fitness applications increase, it fails to lead to a sustained use. It is necessary to find and understand what matters for mobile fitness application users. Therefore, this study analyze the reviews of mobile fitness application users, to draw key factors, and thereby to propose detailed strategies for promoting mobile fitness applications. We utilize text mining techniques - LDA topic modeling, term frequency analysis, and keyword extraction - to draw and analyze the issues related to mobile fitness applications. In particular, the key factors drawn by text mining techniques are explained through the concept of user experience. This study is academically meaningful in the point that the key factors of mobile fitness applications are drawn by the user experience based text mining techniques, and practically this study proposes detailed strategies for promoting mobile fitness applications in the health care area.

Rapid integration of information technology into health care systems has included the use of highly portable systems-in particular, personal digital assistants (PDAs). With their large built-in memories, fast processors, wireless connectivity, multimedia capacity, and large library of applications, PDAs have been widely adopted by physicians and nurses for patient tracking, disease management, medical references and drug information, enhancing quality of health care. Many health-related PDA applications are available to both dietetics professionals and clients. Dietetics professionals can effectively use PDAs for client tracking and support, accessing to hospital database or information, and providing better self-monitoring tools to clients. Internship programs for dietetics professionals should include training in the use of PDAs and their dietetics applications, so that new practitioners can stay abreast of this rapidly evolving technology. Several considerations to keep in mind in selecting a PDA and its applications are discussed.

연구목적: 스마트폰의 편리함은 사람들로 하여금 스마트폰 과의존을 불러 일으켜 일상생활에 여러 가지 문제를 일으킨다. 이에 모바일 헬스케어 앱을 활용하여 이를 관리하는 것은 매우 유용하다. 본 연구는 스마트폰 과의존을 관리하는데 도움이 될 수 있는 모바일 헬스케어 앱에 대한 사용자들의 수용에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 연구방법: 우리는 확장된 통합기술수용모형 모델을 기반으로 확장된 연구모델을 개발하였다. 총 6개의 변수(사용의도, 성과기대, 노력기대, 사회 영향, 인지된 위험, 결과실증성)를 기반으로 6개의 가설을 설정하였다. 온라인 서베이를 실시하여 총 425명의 스마트폰 사용자들의 데이터를 수집하였다. 6개의 가설은 구조방정식 모형을 통해 검증하였다. 또한 최적화된 연구모형 확인을 위해 대안모델을 설정하고 결과를 비교하였다. 결과: 성과기대와 사회 영향력이 앱 사용의도에 가장 직접적으로 영향력이 강하게 나타났다. 결과실증성은 성과기대와 정의 관계를 지니고 있었다. 인지된 위험은 성과기대와 부의 관계를 가지고 있었다. 성과기대와 사회 영향력이 스마트폰 과의존을 관리하는데 유용한 모바일 헬스케어 앱 도입에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 변수로 나타났다. 함의: 우리는 스마트폰 과의존을 관리하는데 필요한 모바일 헬스케어 앱 도입에 필요한 사용자들의 도입 요인을 살펴보았다. 이를 기반으로 보다 효과적인 모바일 헬스케어 앱 개발을 할 수 있을 것이다.

다양한 생체재료들이 이식용 인공장기나 의료용 장비로 폭넓게 사용되고 있으나 혈액과 접촉하는 경우가 많아짐으로써 발생되는 혈전의 문제로 인해 이식재와 혈액간의 혈액 친화성의 향상이 연구자들에게 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 연잎의 표면구조는 항 오염 특성이라는 측면에서 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔으며, 산업적인 용도로 적용하고자 하는 주된 시도들이 있어 왔다. 대부분 주형법이나 졸-젤 방법, 층 쌓기 방법 등을 포함한 다양한 기법으로 표면처리를 함으로써 인위적인 모사가 가능해 왔다. 최근에 들어 이러한 표면의 초소수성 성질이 의료용 재료의 표면처리 기법으로써 혈관 이식재에서부터 항 박테리아용 표면에까지 널리 적용하려는 시도가 진행되고 있다. 본 리뷰논문에서는 최근 많이 사용되는 연잎 구조로의 표면처리 기법들을 중심으로 요약하였으며, 이들을 이용한 의료분야로의 적용 시도들을 정리하고자 하였다.

The research on microbial fuel cells (MFCs) needs various knowledge of different fields such as electrochemistry, microbiology, environmental engineering, and material engineering. Although electrochemically active bacteria are very diverse, the performance of MFCs is affected primarily by the structure of the reactor system. Thus, the development in the system architecture is critical to lower internal resistance and increase power generation for commercialization. This paper summarizes the principles of MFCs and demonstrates the infinite potential of MFCs in various applications including wastewater treatment, biosensors, biohydrogen production, remote power sources, implantable medical devices, etc.

국가 간의 자유무역협정을 통한 세계 경제는 통합화를 추구하고, 이러한 결과로 국가 또는 기업 간의 경쟁이 점점 가속화되고 있다. 시대적 Paradigm은 세계 경제의 통합과 경쟁 방식의 변화이며, 이러한 가운데 소비자들은 건강과 Wellbeing에 대한 관심이 혁신적으로 증대되고 있다. 특히 U-Health의 필요성 증대, 지속적인 U-Health 시장 수요의 증가의 전망되고 있으며 고령화 사회로 접어들면서 건강관리 비용이 GDP의 7% 상회할 것으로 예측되고 있다. 따라서 국가는 국가 경쟁력을 위해, 지역은 지역 경쟁력을 위해 U-Health 산업의 육성을 간과할 수 없다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 충북 지역의 독자적 생존노력 강화 차원에서 차별적인 U-Health 서비스의 우수 브랜드 개발을 통하여 지역 경제활성화 방안을 연구하고자 한다. 먼저 충북 지역은 U-Health 분야의 Power Brand 제정을 통한 충북 지역의 U-Health분야의 독자적 경쟁력을 구축할 수 있다. 그렇게 하기 위해서는 U-Health 제품에 대한 효율적 마케팅전략 전개 필요하다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 SWOT 분석을 통한 경쟁력 확보 전략, STP 분석을 통한 지역 산업화 전략, Marketing Mix 전략을 통한 산업의 활성화 전략을 연구하였다.

본 연구는 모바일 건강 애플리케이션을 활용하여 건강행위를 변화시키는 건강정보소비자 들이 그 역동적인 단계적 변화에 따라 추구하는 건강정보 탐색행태를 관찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 변화단계모형(Stages of change)을 이론적 틀로 사용하여 각 단계에서 나타나는 건강정보소비자들의 인식, 정보요구 및 탐색행태의 변화를 분석하였다. 본 연구에는 총 30명의 대학생 이용자들이 참여하여 3개월 동안 건강 애플리케이션을 사용하면서 금연, 금주, 및 규칙적 운동 등의 건강행위의 변화를 시도하였으며, 그들의 경험을 바탕으로 서면인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 연구 참여자들은 소셜 미디어와 인터넷을 포함하여 다양한 정보원을 사용할 뿐 아니라 정보요구에 따라 상이한 정보원을 탐색했다. 특히, 실행단계에 접어든 소비자들의 본격적인 건강 앱 활용에서 나타나는 정보요구와 정보탐색행태는 특별히 건강 앱을 통한 건강정보서비스의 함의를 시사한다. 또한, 행위변화를 시행하면서 경험하는 스트레스 관리와 퇴보(relapse), 그리고 행위변화의 긍정적 및 부정적 효과는 건강정보제공자에게 소비자의 건강행위변화를 지원할 수 있는 통찰력을 제공한다.
