Acute hemorrhagic edema of infancy (AHEI) is an uncommon form of cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis that occurs in infants and children younger than 2 years. AHEI is characterized clinically by marked peripheral edema and fever as well as large palpable purpuric and ecchymotic skin lesions in a target-like pattern, mainly on the face, ears and extremities, similar to the skin findings of $Henoch-Sch{\ddot{o}}nlein$ purpura (HSP). The skin lesions heal spontaneously within one to three weeks and internal organs are rarely affected. We report a case of AHEI occurring in a 23-month-old boy who was initially misdiagnosed as HSP, and was later diagnosed according to his clinical symptoms and histochemical characteristics.

Indomethacin is a nonsteroid anti-inflammatory agent that is known to induce severe gastric mucosal lesions. In this study, we investigated the effect of selenium on gastric mucosal lesions in rats. To confirm the curative effect of selenium against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcers, gastric ulcers were induced by oral administration of 25 mg/kg indomethacin, and then different doses (10, 50, and 100 ${\mu}g$/kg of body weight) of selenium or vehicle were treated by oral gavage for 3 days. Oral administration of indomethacin clearly increased the gastric ulcer area in the stomach, whereas selenium applied for 3 days significantly decreased the gastric ulcer area in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, selenium markedly reduced the increase of lipid peroxidation induced by indomethacin in the gastric mucosa and increased activities of radical scavenging enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase in a dose-dependent manner. These results reveal that selenium can heal indomethacin-induced gastric ulcers through elimination of the lipid peroxides and activation of radical scavenging enzymes.

The design and synthesis of protein-like polymers is a fundamental challenge in materials science. A biomimetic approach is to explore the impact of monomer sequence on non-natural polymer structure and function. We present the aqueous self-assembly of two peptoid polymers into extremely thin two-dimensional (2D) crystalline sheets directed by periodic amphiphilicity, electrostatic recognition and aromatic interactions. Peptoids are sequence-specific, oligo-N-substituted glycine polymers designed to mimic the structure and functionality of proteins. Mixing a 1:1 ratio of two oppositely charged peptoid 36 mers of a specific sequence in aqueous solution results in the formation of giant, free-floating sheets with only 2.7 nm thickness. Direct visualization of aligned individual peptoid chains in the sheet structure was achieved using aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy. Specific binding of a protein to ligand-functionalized sheets was also demonstrated. The synthetic flexibility and biocompatibility of peptoids provide a flexible and robust platform for integrating functionality into defined 2D nanostructures. In the later part of my talk, we describe the use of metal ions to construct two-dimensional hybrid films that have the ability to self-heal. Incubation of biomimetic peptoid polymers with specific divalent metal ions results in the spontaneous formation of uniform multilayers at the air-water interface. We anticipate that ease of synthesis and transfer of these two-dimensional materials may have many potential applications in catalysis, gas storage and sensing, optics, nanomaterial synthesis, and environmentally responsive scaffolds.

The present treatment of respiratory failure, using cuffed endotracheal and tracheostomy tube has produced, apparently with increasing frequency, three lesions which have serious ceminical manifestations such as tracheal stenosis, tracheomalasia, and localized tracheal erosion. Extensive resection and reconstruction of the trachea must be necessary because conservative treatment has generally failed in the fully developed stenotic lesion. of the mediastinal trachea following extensive resection is best accomplished by direct anastomosis of the patient`s own tracheobronchial tissue. Any replacement of the mediastinal trachea must be air tight and laterally rigid, and must heal dependably. A variety of materials has been used for substitution following circumferential excision of tracheal segments within the mediastinum. These attempts have often failed because of early leak or late stenosis. We have successfully performed circumferential resection and primary end-to-end anastomosis of the trachea for 4 cases of post-intubation tracheal stenosis located a few centimeter below the tracheostomy stoma in the period of 3 years between 1974 and 1976. The lesion in one patient was found in the upper trachea which was approached anteriorly through a cervicomediastinal incision with division of the upper sternum. Other three located in the lower half of the trachea were operated through a high transthoracic incision with appropriate hilar mobilization in addition to cervical flexion for the development of the cervical trachea into the mediastinum. There were no hospital death, but suture line granulations occurred in two patients were managed by bronchoscopic removal of granulations without difficulties.

In this paper, we introduce smart home service based on ubiquitous environment and context awareness. We define the multi- context environment and the context collision caused by many user that the existing study of smart home is unconcerned with. Heal home is the space where various contexts are created and disappeared in. Smart home appliances are restricted within their service. We divide the home space by main uses of rooms and group smart service by sensory organ. And we introduce the multi-context manager consist with context interpreter, context collision manager and smart service manager.

Objectives : To see if Clinical study on 1 Case of patient with the foot drop diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy suggest further treatment plan for more effective cure. Methods : To heal foot drop diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy using herbal medicine wooseul-tangkami and electronic acupuncture on the Yangmyung channel(陽明經) selected in The Yellow Emperor's of internal Medicine and on Panggwang channel(膀胱經) considered as painful lesion. Results : we experienced a case of foot drop diagnosed as the peripheral neuropathy the patient was treated by wooseul-tangkami, and electric acupuncture on Yangmyung channel and also Panggwang channel and had a significant improvement in gait ability and the range of motion. Conclusion : Herbal medicine wooseul-tangkami, and electric acupuncture on Yangmyung channel and also Panggwang channel was prescribed in the perpective of oriental medicine when treating foot drop, Wooseul-tangkami is used to remove the wetness-heat evil and had shown significant improvement in gait ability and the range of motion.

The purpose of this study is to present various ways for women to prevent and remedy the climacteric symptoms and to increase the health and quality of life of the women. The reason of this study focuses on this matter is that the conditions of climacteric era is connecter into the health of golden age. After examining the symptoms of the period, the researcher went over the foot heal care even recognized to the public. When the study considered the foot care as a medical service for the climacteric women, the method was expected as a way to improve the symptoms related to the climacteric diseases. This effect is also supported by the results of the clinical experiment and book media materials concerned. The main symptoms of climacteric period such as insomnia, irregular menstruation, stomach chill, stress were able to be decreased by feet bathing, and massage therapy on feet could also decrease pain of arms and legs, menstruation, headache and insomnia. The foot reflexology therapy made strengthen the periphery nerve, capillary vessels, and immune system, and increased the elasticity of blood vessels and the speed of the blood corpuscle, so they could enable to the blood circulation. The study expects the foot care to be positively method for climacteric symptoms with regular breathing, muscle relaxing exercise, acupuncture, exercise and alimentotherapy. The foot care doesn't have any side effects and could ives up to the modern people who want to keep their health and live long.

The pump/motor selection program for optimized selection of regional water supply facilities was developed based on a flowchart compiled from basic operational data, total head requirement, initial pump/motor specification selection etc. This program was developed in Visual Basic. The program accepts, as in the flowchart, operational requirements of pumps and other system requirements, and calculates specific speed based on flow rate, total head and rotational speed. Then the calculated specific speed is used to select pump types and speed prior to determining likelihood of cavitation occurring at the calculated NPSH. Power requirement is then calculated for safe operation of pump to assist final pump selection. Test results of the program match very closely to the design values of Paldang intake pump station(3rd stage) proving that the program can be used as an effective and practical aid for designing new regional water supply systems.

During fuel irradiation tests, all parts of cylindrical structure with multiple holes act as heat sources due to fussion heal and ${\gamma}-flux$. The high temperature is especially generated over $2500^{\circ}C$ in the center of pellet. Due to the high temperature, many problems occur, such as melting of pellet and declining of heat transfer between cladding and coolant. [n this study, it is attempted 10 minimize the temperature of pellet using optimization method about geometric variables. For thermal and optimization analysis or structure. the finite element method code. ANSYS 5.7 is used. In this procedure. subproblem approximation method is used to the optimization methods. Through the optimum design process, the temperature of sealed basket type is reduced from $2537^{\circ}C$ to $2181^{\circ}C$ and the temperature of open basket type is reduced from $2560^{\circ}C$ to $2106^{\circ}C$.

Purpose: This study was designed to identify the factors affecting healing of Stage 2 pressure ulcer in an acute care facility in Korea. Methods: 286 Stage 2 pressure ulcers of 145 patients were examined. Data were collected in the period between October $1^{st}$, 2006 and September $30^{th}$, 2007. Data were analyzed with Kaplan-Meier survival analysis for cumulative recovery rate of Stage 2 pressure ulcers. Cox proportional hazard model was used to examine effects of multiple variables simultaneously. Results: Out of 286 initial Stage 2 pressure ulcers, 204 (71.3%) pressure ulcers healed completely. The median time to heal was 15 days according to Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Cox proportional hazard model showed that the Stage 2 pressure ulcers healed more quickly when pressure redistribution surfaces were used (p<.001, HR=2.184), patients were administered with vitamins (p= .038, HR=1.451), and the size of the pressure ulcers were small (${\leq}3.0cm^2$, p= .006, HR=1.765). Conclusion: The factors contributing to the healing of Stage 2 pressure ulcer in an acute care setting were the application of pressure redistribution surface, small ulcer size (${\leq}3.0cm^2$), and the administration of vitamins.
